Before buying a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, verify the seller through Samsung’s local official or authorized channels, confirm the phone’s exact model, region, and condition, and get the warranty and return terms in writing. An IMEI check can flag some local registration problems, but it cannot prove by itself that a phone is genuine or risk-free.
Start with the seller, not the discount
Look up the seller’s business details independently, then check the local Samsung website or contact Samsung support to see whether the seller is authorized. A marketplace account, polished listing, or seller’s own assurance is not proof of authorization. Samsung Australia has warned about counterfeit phone offers on marketplaces such as Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree, while Samsung regional guidance recommends buying from official stores or authorized distributors (Samsung Australia’s counterfeit-product alert; Samsung Newsroom Perú).
That warning is a reason to check an individual seller, not evidence that every marketplace listing or low-priced offer is fraudulent.
Confirm exactly which phone is being offered
Ask for the model code, storage capacity, country or regional version, carrier-lock status, and condition. Make sure the answers match the listing and the invoice you will receive. These details matter because a phone intended for another market may not receive the same local service or warranty support.

- Durable, premium build: Titanium‑frame body, protected by Corning Gorilla Armor 2 glass, with IP68 dust/water resistance, ultrasonic in‑display fingerprint sensor, modern connectivity (5G, Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth, UWB, USB‑C), and long‑term software support (Android 15 / One UI 7, promised 7 major OS/security updates).
For used or refurbished devices, also ask whether the phone has already been activated or registered, when its warranty began, who provides the warranty, what it excludes, and who pays return shipping. Warranty start dates and coverage depend on the device and local policy; ask Samsung or the seller to confirm the terms for that specific phone.
Check local warranty and service before paying
Do not assume that a genuine Samsung phone bought abroad will be serviced like one sold in your country. Samsung US says smartphone service can be limited to the country where the product was first sold; service for a foreign-market phone may be unavailable locally, delayed, or chargeable. Ask Samsung support or an authorized service center in your country whether it can service the exact model and what coverage applies. Samsung’s US warranty information explains the cross-border limitation.

Use an IMEI check as one signal—not proof
Where available, use the national regulator’s or Samsung’s local IMEI-checking service, and compare the phone’s identifiers with its box and paperwork. A clean result can help identify certain local registration or restriction issues, but it does not establish that the phone is authentic or rule out every problem.

Samsung Russia Support’s article, updated June 3, 2026, says there is no reliable way to verify a Galaxy’s originality with certainty and presents an IMEI check only as a precaution (Samsung Russia Support). Brazil’s Anatel offers guidance for checking local irregularities, including whether a device is reported stolen or missing; that check applies to Brazil and is not a universal authenticity test (Anatel: Antes de comprar).

Know what “refurbished” means in this offer
“Refurbished” can describe different arrangements. Samsung’s Certified Re-Newed program is distinct from a generic refurbisher’s or seller’s promise. Samsung announced on January 13, 2026, that the Galaxy S25 Ultra was included in the program in select markets, sold through Samsung.com. The announcement describes replacing specified malfunctioning or appearance-damaged parts with genuine Samsung parts and notes that warranty terms vary by country. Availability can change, so check the local Samsung site and its current terms before relying on the program (Samsung Global Newsroom).
If the offer is not through Samsung’s local program, ask who refurbished the phone, what work was done, what parts were used, and who is responsible if it fails. Do not treat a seller’s use of “certified” as proof of Samsung certification.

Check country-specific signs only in the country they apply to
Some markets have local compliance or distribution indicators that can help distinguish official-market stock from gray-market imports. For example, Samsung México points to local compliance markings, importer information, and regulatory labels as clues for official Mexican distribution (Samsung Newsroom México). These are Mexico-specific checks; do not apply them as a universal test for phones sold elsewhere.
Before you complete the purchase
- Verify the seller through Samsung’s local official store, authorized-seller information, or support channel.
- Get the exact model code, storage, regional version, carrier-lock status, and new/used/refurbished condition in writing.
- Ask Samsung or an authorized local service center about warranty and service for that model and market.
- Use the relevant local IMEI checker if one exists, compare identifiers with the paperwork, and treat the result as limited.
- Save the listing, seller identity, invoice, stated condition, warranty terms, and return window. Check the payment method and checkout process for the buyer protections available in your country.
- Pause if the seller will not provide basic model, condition, warranty, or return details; ask Samsung or the local authorized service channel before paying.
Return rights and payment protections vary by country, and the cited sources do not establish a universal rule. Check the terms that apply to your own transaction before checkout.
