To check an Indian IPO result, use the allotment channel named in that issue’s official materials. Do not treat a bank debit alert or a UPI mandate status as proof that shares were allotted. With ASBA, application money is blocked in your account; the amount due for shares allotted is debited, while money for shares not allotted is released rather than refunded.
How to check an IPO allotment result
- Find the issue’s official allotment channel. Check the IPO’s official materials for the result announcement or lookup channel. There is no single allotment URL established for every issue.
- Check the result through that channel. Use the application details requested by the issue’s official lookup, such as the identifiers shown in the application. SEBI notes that allotment communication is separate from a UPI bank-debit notification; see its FAQ on UPI in ASBA and IPO applications.
- Check your payment status separately. If you applied through UPI, review the mandate in your UPI app or bank account, but read it as payment status—not as the allotment result.
- Compare the result with your account activity. Check the value of any shares allotted, the amount debited, and any amount still blocked.
What the different statuses mean
| Status or outcome | What it tells you | What it does not tell you |
|---|---|---|
| UPI mandate accepted; amount blocked | The mandate was accepted and application funds were blocked. NSE identifies status RC100 as “Mandate Accepted by Investor and amount Blocked” for the issue shown on its Issue Information page. | It does not establish that shares were allotted. |
| Shares allotted | The official issue result shows an allotment. The amount corresponding to the allotted shares is due to be debited under ASBA. | A bank debit notification alone is not the allotment communication. |
| No shares allotted | The blocked application amount is to be released; it was not a payment requiring a refund. | It does not mean a refund transfer must appear in your account. |
| Partial allotment | The amount for allotted shares is debited and the surplus block is to be released. | The UPI mandate acceptance status does not show the final amount allotted. |
Why an IPO “refund” may not arrive as a payment
In ASBA, the application amount is blocked in the investor’s bank account rather than transferred away when applying. SEBI says the blocked amount continues to earn interest and that no refund is required in case of non-allotment. In that case, the funds are released from the block. If some shares are allotted, only the amount required for those shares is debited and the excess is released. See SEBI’s guidance, Apply in IPO Through ASBA.
That is why people often use “refund” as shorthand even when no money left the account: the practical issue is when the bank removes the block and makes the balance available again.

When blocked money should become available
Release timing can depend on the payment mechanism and issue rules, so do not assume one deadline applies to every IPO. A SEBI master-circular excerpt from November 2024 says the unblock process for non-allotted or partially allotted UPI applications is to be completed by the close of one working day after the basis of allotment is finalised. That statement is specific to the UPI mechanism; check the current issue terms and applicable rules for your application. Read the SEBI master circular excerpt on IPO UPI unblocking.

What to do if more money was debited than the allotment value
Compare the debit with the value of the shares shown in the official result. SEBI says investors can raise a complaint if the debit exceeds the allotment value. Contact an appropriate route listed by SEBI, such as the lead manager, bank, registrar and transfer agent (RTA), UPI app, or another relevant channel. Include your Unique Mandate Number and application details so the issue can be traced. The complaint guidance is in the SEBI FAQ.
