To see the Android security patch installed on your phone, open Settings > About phone > Android version and check the “Android security update” date. To find how long your exact TECNO, Infinix, or itel model is promised updates, check an official statement for that model and your country or region; there is no confirmed support period that applies to every phone from these brands.
Check the security patch installed on your phone
On most Android phones, go to Settings > About phone > Android version. Google says this screen shows the Android version number, security update status, Google Play system status, and build number. Menu names can vary by phone software, so search Settings for “Android version” or check the manufacturer’s support instructions if the path differs. Google’s Android version and update instructions describe the general path.
Use the field labeled Android security update to report the phone’s Android security patch date. The separate Google Play system update field is not the Android security patch date; Google lists these as distinct statuses.

Check whether an update is available
Google’s general path is Settings > System > Software updates. Follow the on-screen prompts to check for available software and security updates. Some TECNO, Infinix, and itel versions may use different menu labels or locations. Google notes that update schedules vary by device, manufacturer, and carrier, so seeing no available update does not by itself establish that a phone has reached the end of its support period. For a non-Pixel device, Google advises contacting the manufacturer or carrier for schedule information.

Find the support commitment for your exact model
- Record the full model and region. Check the model name or number in Settings or on the device documentation, and note the country or regional variant. Similar product names can have different product pages or terms.
- Look for an official, model-specific statement. Check the manufacturer’s product page, launch announcement, or support page for your exact model and market.
- Separate the two kinds of support. Record the promised number of major Android version upgrades separately from the duration of security patch updates. One does not establish the other.
- Check the wording and date. Note when the statement was published or when the product page was accessed, and preserve any conditions or regional limits.
- Distinguish a commitment from delivery. A promised update period is not proof that an update has already reached every device. Check for an OTA rollout or available update on the phone itself.
- Ask if no term is published. If you cannot verify a support period for that model and market, contact the manufacturer or carrier rather than applying another model’s promise.
Official examples show why model and region matter
The examples below are specific product claims, not a brand-wide policy. Android version upgrades and security patch support are separate commitments; the source pages also differ in region and date information.

These claims should not be transferred to other models or regions. In particular, an Infinix page for one country does not confirm the terms for a similarly named phone sold elsewhere.

What is known about itel and brand-wide support
No usable official itel support-period statement or model-specific itel page was established in the sources available for this article. That does not prove that a particular itel phone receives no updates; it means its promised duration cannot be confirmed here. Ask itel or your carrier for the term for your exact model and market. The available TECNO and Infinix examples likewise do not establish a universal support duration for either brand.
