You can change a known UPI PIN in the settings for the relevant bank account in your UPI app. If you have forgotten it, use the app’s reset flow and complete the bank’s verification. Changing the linked bank account is a separate process, and a daily payment ceiling usually cannot be freely edited in the app: your bank and the payment type can determine the limit.

How do I change my UPI PIN?

In Google Pay, you need to know the current PIN to change it. The PIN is associated with the bank account, not simply with the app; Google Pay describes UPI PINs as four or six digits and says you can use an existing PIN for that account.

  1. Open Google Pay and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap Bank account, then select the account whose PIN you want to change.
  3. Tap More > Change UPI PIN.
  4. Enter the current PIN, enter the new PIN, then enter it again to confirm.

These are Google Pay’s published steps. Other UPI apps may use different menu names or steps. Google Pay: Reset or change UPI PIN; Google Pay: Set up a UPI PIN.

How do I reset my UPI PIN if I forgot it?

In Google Pay, open Profile picture > Bank account > [account] > Forgot UPI PIN and follow the verification prompts. The reset flow requires debit-card or Aadhaar details. Aadhaar verification is available only if your bank supports it; do not assume you can reset the PIN without completing the method the bank offers.

Google Pay’s help page says to wait 24 hours before trying another transaction after more than three incorrect PIN attempts, or to reset the PIN to transact sooner. Further attempts may be temporarily blocked after three wrong entries within 24 hours. Follow the specific message shown in the app, since the block and recovery options may depend on the app or bank. Google Pay: Reset or change UPI PIN; Google Pay: Set up a UPI PIN.

How do I change the bank account linked to Google Pay?

Google Pay’s documented method is to remove the account and add it again. First unlink any active autopay or UPI Lite associations connected to it; then:

PhonePe’s published add-account instructions are a separate app flow: select the bank, provide card details, and verify with an OTP sent to the registered number. This is not a universal procedure for all UPI apps. PhonePe Help.

What is my UPI daily limit?

There is no single daily ceiling that applies to every bank account and payment type, and you should not assume the app lets you raise it. Google Pay’s help page, accessed October 4, 2026, lists these standard person-to-person (P2P) limits:

Limit listed by Google Pay Published threshold Qualification
Amount from one bank account Up to ₹1 lakh in the last 24 hours The page describes this as a bank-set limit across UPI apps; a bank may set a lower ceiling.
Successful P2P payments 20 in the last 24 hours Standard P2P transaction-count limit listed by Google Pay.
Successful P2P payments 150 in the last 30 days Standard P2P transaction-count limit listed by Google Pay.

Google Pay also describes higher caps for specified verified merchant categories. Those do not mean that every merchant payment has a higher ceiling: the applicable payment type and your bank’s rules matter. These are figures on Google Pay’s help page as accessed October 4, 2026, not a guarantee for every bank, user, transaction, or future date. Google Pay: Standard UPI transaction limits.

Google Pay’s issuing-bank table illustrates how amounts can differ. The values below are the table’s displayed UPI transaction and daily limits, respectively, as accessed October 4, 2026:

What should I check if a UPI payment is declined?

  • Read the exact reason shown in the app; it may identify a PIN, verification, or limit issue.
  • Check your bank’s current amount and transaction-count limits for the payment type, and whether the bank is allowing transactions.
  • Consider how many successful payments you have made recently, since transaction-count limits may apply as well as an amount ceiling.
  • Check whether the payment is P2P or to an eligible verified merchant; different rules may apply.
  • A different linked account may have a different bank limit, but switching accounts is not guaranteed to resolve a decline.

Google Pay’s limit guidance and bank table are useful starting points, but your bank is the authority on its current limit for your account. Google Pay: Standard UPI transaction limits; Google Pay: UPI issuing bank wise limits.
