You can’t change the country or region—or the Store currency—of an existing PlayStation account on PS5. PlayStation Support says an account’s country/region “can’t be changed” after creation. The Store region is tied to the account, not a setting on the console. If the Store shows an unexpected currency or a payment fails, first check the account’s registered region.
Can you change your PlayStation Store region on PS5?
No. Sony’s support guidance says an account’s country/region cannot be changed after the account is created. Its US terms state the same restriction. There is no PS5 setting that converts an existing account to another country, Store, or currency. Store content and services vary by region, and Sony says the account region should match billing information. How to check the region on your account
Check the account record rather than relying on your PS5’s location. Sony provides these paths:
- Account Management: Sign in, open Your Information, then select Edit your Residential Address. The country/region appears at the bottom of the page.
- PlayStation App: Open Settings > Account Information, then select Edit under Residential Address.

If you’re trying to fix a payment problem
A payment issue does not mean you need a console region switch. Sony notes that a card registered in a different country from the Store region may not link. Payment methods differ by country or region, so use an option supported for the account’s Store region where possible. See PlayStation Store payment-card guidance and wallet top-up information.
- Try a payment method supported for the account’s Store region.
- If you use a wallet top-up code or gift card, make sure it is for the account’s region. Check the specific listing before buying.
- If the account appears to be registered incorrectly, contact PlayStation Support for account-specific help. The cited guidance does not describe a region-migration exception, so do not assume Support can change the account region.
A matching PlayStation Store wallet top-up code can add funds to the existing regional wallet; it does not change the account’s country, Store, or currency. Sony’s voucher-code guidance explains that voucher and account regions must match.
