If Chrome’s autofill suggestion looks larger or smaller when you hover over it, a SitePoint forum user reported success with a CSS ::first-line workaround. It is not a guaranteed browser-wide fix: try it with the font size you want and check the result in your target browser.
Try the reported CSS workaround
The 2021 SitePoint discussion concerned Chrome’s built-in autofill suggestions, not an extension. The original poster wanted the text to remain 18px both while hovering over a suggestion and after selecting it. Their regular rules for input:-webkit-autofill states did not change the hovered suggestion’s appearance.
PaulOB suggested this rule:
input:-webkit-autofill::first-line {
font-size: 24px;
}The original poster said it worked for them. The example uses 24px, so replace that value with your desired size, such as 18px, and test it in the browser and version you need to support. PaulOB cautioned, “It’s not guaranteed to work everywhere.” Read the SitePoint discussion.

A browser’s suggestion menu and the input’s autofilled value are different presentation states. MDN describes :autofill as matching an input after the browser fills its value; it stops matching when the user edits that field. MDN also identifies :-webkit-autofill as an alias. A rule targeting the autofilled input therefore does not necessarily control the appearance of a suggestion while it is hovered.

Support for :autofill is limited, and browser user-agent styles may mark some autofill properties !important. That can prevent page CSS from overriding them. The selector and the forum workaround should not be treated as a promise that every aspect of the browser’s autofill interface is customizable. See MDN’s :autofill reference.

Test Chrome’s built-in autofill suggestion while hovering, then select it and check the text in the field.

Repeat in the browsers and versions your site supports. If the hover appearance does not change, the forum report does not establish another reliable CSS control for that browser.
