On iOS 26, you can change text size and weight for supported apps, but the standard display settings do not provide a system-wide control for replacing the iPhone’s typeface. For most people, the setting to start with is Settings > Display & Brightness > Text Size.
Change text size across supported apps
- Open Settings.
- Tap Display & Brightness, then Text Size.
- Drag the slider to make text smaller or larger.
The setting changes text size in apps that support it; it does not change the typeface. Apple notes that a preferred text size can apply across supported apps, including Calendar, Mail, Messages, Notes, and Settings. Apple’s iOS 26 display and text settings explain the standard controls, and its text accessibility guide describes supported-app behavior.

Make text larger than the standard slider allows
- Go to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Larger Text.
- Turn on Larger Accessibility Sizes.
- Move the slider to choose a larger size.
This exposes additional size options. Text set very large can make some buttons or other app functions difficult to tap, so choose a size that remains usable. Apple’s font-size guidance includes this usability warning.

If the text is readable at its current size but looks too thin, enable Bold Text. You can find the control in Settings > Display & Brightness or in Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size. Bold Text changes the lettering’s weight, not its size or typeface. See Apple’s display settings guide and accessibility instructions.

Adjust text size quickly from Control Center
While using an app, open Control Center and use the Text Size control to adjust text. If you do not see it, use Control Center’s add-control option to add it. The control is a shortcut for text sizing, not a system typeface selector. Apple outlines this option in its guide to making text easier to read.
Change text size for one app
- Open Settings > Accessibility > Per-App Settings.
- Tap Add App, then choose an app or Home Screen & App Library.
- Tap the app or entry you added and adjust its available visual settings, including text size.
Per-App Settings let you customize selected apps separately from the general preferred text size. An app must support the relevant setting for it to take effect. Apple documents the feature in its per-app visual accessibility guide.

What “change font” means on iPhone

The Lock Screen clock and Call Poster have their own personalization options. They do not replace the font used throughout apps. Apple describes these element-specific options in Make your iPhone your own.
Fix common text-size problems
Text is still too small
Enable Larger Accessibility Sizes under Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Larger Text. If only one app needs adjustment, add it under Per-App Settings instead of making text larger everywhere.

One app does not match the others
Check that app’s Per-App Settings and remember that the general preferred size affects supported apps; an app may not respond to the setting in the same way as Apple’s built-in apps. Apple explains these distinctions in its supported-app text guidance and per-app settings guide.
Buttons are difficult to tap
Reduce the text size until the app’s controls are usable. Very large text can interfere with tapping buttons or using some app functions, as Apple cautions in its font-size support article.

You want a different look, not larger text
Turn on Bold Text if heavier lettering is the goal. If you mean a different typeface throughout iOS, the cited iOS 26 settings describe size and weight options rather than a system-wide font-family selector.
These paths and labels are for iOS 26; settings names may differ in later releases.
