In Ghost of Yōtei, equip the armor or outfit whose gameplay effects you want, then use the appearance/stat option added in patch v2.0 to show a different armor set. PlayStation announced the patch for October 1, 2026 globally, with October 2 in some territories; those dates have passed as of October 4, 2026. Official information confirms the feature but does not specify its menu path or button inputs.
How armor and outfit equipment works
Armor and outfits are more than visual choices: each has special features that combine with charm effects. The game’s builds system lets you save combinations of equipment and charms. You start with three saved builds and can later have up to five, which is useful when you want to switch between different gameplay setups.

For a build, first equip the armor or outfit whose effects you want. Andrew Goldfarb, Senior Communications Manager at Sucker Punch Productions, describes the system as allowing players to combine “the special features of armour and outfits with the boons offered by the charms found throughout the world.” PlayStation.Blog’s builds guide was published October 15, 2025.
How to use a different armor appearance
Patch v2.0 adds an option to keep one armor set’s appearance while using another set’s stats, according to PlayStation’s patch announcement. The announced rollout was October 1, 2026 globally and October 2 in some territories.

The announcement does not document the exact menu labels or controller inputs, so a button-by-button sequence cannot be confirmed from the available official information. Look for the appearance/stat option in the game’s armor interface after installing the update. The confirmed feature applies to an armor set’s appearance and stats; it does not establish that every individual garment or cosmetic piece can be freely mixed.

More cosmetics in New Game+
New Game+ unlocks after the main story. PlayStation says it carries over gear, upgrades, cosmetics, resources, and collectibles. Repeating objectives completed in the first playthrough can award Ghost Flowers, which can be exchanged with a new vendor for additional cosmetics, charms, and two new upgradeable armor sets.
