Google Wallet keeps privacy controls and notification controls in different places. In the app, tap your profile picture or account icon: choose Your data in Wallet for data controls, or Wallet settings for alerts. You can also open wallet.google.com and select Settings for available data, privacy, and email options.
If you are trying to change one specific thing, identify it first: saving Wallet activity, personalizing Wallet, sharing pass data across Google, ad personalization, purchase alerts, and other Wallet notifications are separate choices. Changing one does not automatically change the others.
Change Google Wallet data and privacy settings in the app

These controls are separate choices, not one master privacy switch. Depending on the option, the information involved can include passes, purchase activity, saved addresses, and accounts linked to Wallet. The available controls can vary as Google rolls them out.

Take a moment to read the description beside each control before changing it. The options cover different purposes: some affect how Wallet is personalized, one concerns saving activity, another concerns using Wallet and payments information in other Google experiences, and ad personalization has its own route. If your goal is narrow—for example, to change whether activity is saved—adjust that control rather than assuming a general privacy setting covers every use of data.
After you open the page, the labels and options you see are the guide to what is available for your account. If a control mentioned in Google’s instructions is not shown, do not assume that another switch has the same effect. Some newer controls are being rolled out gradually, and Google’s guidance is to check back later if they have not appeared yet.
Personalization in Wallet
This option relates to personalizing the Wallet experience. It is distinct from choices about using Wallet information elsewhere in Google or saving activity in Wallet history. Change it if your goal is to limit personalization within Wallet, rather than to stop every kind of data use.

Think of this as a Wallet-specific choice. It is not the same as turning off ad personalization, and it does not by itself represent a request to remove passes or payment methods from the app. If you want to understand exactly which data is involved, review the text displayed with the option; Google says Wallet-related information can include passes, purchase activity, saved addresses, and accounts linked to Wallet, depending on the control.
Someone who wants Wallet to use less information to tailor its own experience should review this option first. Someone whose concern is information used in other Google experiences should look for the separate cross-Google choice instead. Keeping those aims distinct helps avoid changing a setting that does not address the issue you had in mind.
Using Wallet and payments information across Google
A separate control governs whether information from Wallet and payments services is used to personalize other Google experiences. This is broader than personalization inside the Wallet app. Review the description beside the control before changing it so you select the scope you intend.
This distinction matters because an adjustment to personalization inside Wallet does not necessarily change how information is used to personalize other Google experiences. Likewise, changing the cross-Google option should not be described as deleting Wallet history or removing an item from the app. These settings are about different uses of information, not a single on/off switch for Wallet.

If you are comparing options, ask where you want the change to apply: within Wallet, across other Google experiences, or to advertising. Then choose the matching control and read its on-screen explanation. The setting’s wording is more useful than a broad label such as “privacy,” which can hide the fact that these choices have distinct scopes.
Wallet history
Wallet history concerns saving activity from Wallet and payments services. Google gives using a transit pass by tapping an Android device to a reader as an example of activity that may be recorded. Changing this history setting does not remove a pass, cancel a payment card, or disable Wallet.
This is the setting to examine if your question is whether Wallet and payments services activity is saved. It is not a substitute for managing a particular pass or changing the card or account you use. For instance, the transit-pass example describes activity that may be recorded; the history setting concerns saving that activity, not whether the transit pass itself remains in Wallet.
Keep this separate from notifications as well. A history preference concerns saving activity, while purchase notifications and other push notifications determine whether certain alerts appear. Turning off a notification is not the same as changing the history choice, and changing history is not the same as silencing alerts.

Ad personalization is another distinct choice. Its control may take you to My Ad Center, where Google provides the related ad settings. Changing this option is not the same as changing Wallet history or personalization within Wallet.

If the Wallet control opens My Ad Center, that is the relevant route for the advertising choice. It does not mean that the Wallet-specific personalization and history options have also been changed. Review the setting there, and return to Wallet’s data and privacy page if you also want to consider those separate choices.
Manage pass data separately from payment methods
Passes and payment methods are different kinds of Wallet items. Passes include gift cards, travel cards, boarding passes, event tickets, loyalty cards, digital car keys, campus IDs, and digital receipts. Debit and credit payment methods are not included in that pass category.
Google provides controls for personalization within Wallet using pass data and for using passes across Google. You can also control sharing for an individual pass in the app. Private passes, such as insurance cards and IDs, are handled differently from ordinary passes, so do not assume that a general pass setting applies to them in the same way.

If it is a payment card, a pass-data control is not the control for that card. If it is a boarding pass, loyalty card, or another pass, the pass-related options may be relevant. The fact that both types of item appear in Wallet does not make their data controls interchangeable.
There are also two different scopes to consider for pass information: personalization using pass data within Wallet, and use of passes across Google. Those are separate from sharing controls for an individual pass. If your goal concerns one item, check that item’s own sharing control rather than changing a broader pass-data choice without confirming its scope.
Change sharing for one pass
If your concern is a particular pass rather than pass data generally, open that pass in Wallet and look for its sharing controls. This lets you address that item without treating the setting as a change to payment methods or every pass in your account.
Use the individual-pass route when you want to review sharing for that item. A general pass setting and an item’s sharing control answer different questions: one concerns use of pass data more broadly, while the other applies to a particular pass. Private passes, including insurance cards and IDs, are handled differently, so follow the controls shown for the individual item rather than assuming that ordinary-pass behavior applies.
Turn purchase notifications on or off

Turn the setting on or off according to whether you want those alerts.
Purchase notifications are a specific alert control. Google says users may receive a notification after a Wallet transaction. This setting is separate from the broader Wallet push-notification controls.
If you want to turn off purchase alerts, start with this named setting. Do not assume that switching off a different Wallet notification category—or changing a data and privacy option—will have the same result. If you are uncertain whether an alert is a purchase notification or another Wallet alert, compare it with the categories listed under Manage Wallet notifications as well.

This feature is optional. Location access is not a requirement for making Wallet payments, and it should not be treated as a master switch for all transaction notifications. If your concern is location information in transaction details, consider that permission separately from the purchase-notification control.

Manage other Wallet push notifications

In the Wallet app, tap your profile picture or account icon.

Open Wallet settings.

Select Manage Wallet notifications.

Adjust the notification categories displayed on that screen.
This screen covers Wallet push notifications about transactions, passes, and more. The categories shown can vary with the app and account. If you want to stop only purchase alerts, use purchase notifications; if you want to manage other Wallet alerts too, review Manage Wallet notifications.
The two routes are worth checking separately if you are trying to silence a particular kind of alert. The purchase-notification switch is a named control for purchase alerts. The management screen is the place to review other Wallet push categories that are available to you. Since categories can vary, use the entries actually shown on your screen rather than expecting every account to display an identical list.
These are app settings. If you have changed the relevant in-app preference and an alert still appears, first confirm which kind of alert it was and whether you changed the matching control. If it appears to be a Wallet alert but the in-app setting is already correct, you can also review your Android device’s notification settings for Wallet. Android menu names and paths vary by manufacturer and OS version, so consult your phone maker’s current instructions rather than relying on a single path.
Location and transaction details
Location permission can enable location data to appear in details for new tap-to-pay transactions. It is an optional transaction-detail feature, not a requirement for making Wallet payments or receiving all transaction notifications. Consider location permission separately from the notification switches if your goal is to limit location information.
In practical terms, decide whether the issue is an alert arriving or location appearing in transaction details. The first is addressed through notification preferences; the second relates to location permission and transaction details. Changing one does not necessarily address the other. This separation can help you avoid disabling a feature you still want while trying to manage a different kind of information.
Use Google Wallet settings on the web

Go to wallet.google.com and sign in to the relevant Google Account.

Review the available data and privacy and email settings.
The website offers another route to available data and privacy options. Its email settings include categories for help and troubleshooting messages and for updates or promotions. These are email preferences, not controls for Wallet push notifications on your phone. Web availability and the options displayed can vary.
The website can be useful if you are looking for data, privacy, or email options outside the app. It is not a replacement for the in-app route to purchase notifications or the Wallet push notification categories. If your goal is to stop an email, review the relevant email category in website Settings; if your goal is to stop a phone alert, use the matching Wallet setting in the app.

Sign in to the Google Account associated with the Wallet settings you intend to review. Then check what is actually available in Settings. The website help page identifies data and privacy and email preferences there, but availability and displayed options may vary by region or account. If a control is not present, the website is an alternate route for available settings, not a guarantee that every rollout option will appear.

If a setting is missing or an alert still arrives
Check for a gradual rollout
Some newer data and privacy controls are being introduced gradually. Google Wallet Help says: “Important: These settings are rolling out gradually to users. If you do not find these options yet, check back later.” If a specific control is absent from both the app and the website, it may not yet be available to your account.
Missing controls do not necessarily mean you opened the wrong menu. Start by checking the app path under Your data in Wallet and the website’s Settings page. If the particular newer option still does not appear, Google’s advice is to check back later. Do not substitute a similarly named control unless its description matches the choice you mean to change.
Rollout status can change, so a setting that is absent now may become available later. There is no single user-specific availability schedule in the help guidance; checking again is the appropriate next step when the option is not shown.
Update the app
If the labels or settings in your app differ from Google’s instructions, update Google Wallet and check again. Google’s help guidance recommends updating the app when settings differ.
After updating, return to the same menu branch and look for the named setting. Updating is especially relevant when the screen labels differ, but it does not guarantee that a control in a gradual rollout will immediately be available to every account. If the option remains absent, use the web route for available data and privacy settings and check again later for the newer control.
Check which alert control you changed
If a notification continues, first identify whether it is a purchase alert or another Wallet push notification. Purchase alerts use their own switch; other categories are managed on the Manage Wallet notifications screen. Changing one does not necessarily turn off the other.
It can help to revisit both places and confirm the state of the setting that corresponds to the alert. A purchase alert points you to purchase notifications; an alert about a pass or another Wallet activity points you to the categories available in Manage Wallet notifications. The category list varies, so base the choice on the items shown in your app.
Review Android notification settings if needed
If in-app preferences are set as intended but alerts still appear, you can also check your phone’s system notification settings for Google Wallet. Android menu names and paths differ among manufacturers and OS versions, so use your phone maker’s current instructions rather than expecting one universal sequence.
This is general device guidance, not a single Google Wallet path that applies to every Android phone. Check your manufacturer’s current documentation for the system-level notification controls on your device. Keep the distinction in mind: Wallet’s in-app settings identify Wallet alert categories, while Android’s system settings are another place to review app notifications if needed.

To address one pass, use that pass’s sharing control rather than changing payment methods or assuming a general setting removes it.
A useful way to choose is to match the setting to the kind of information or alert involved, then match it to the correct location. Data and privacy controls are under Your data in Wallet; notification controls are under Wallet settings; some ad personalization options lead to My Ad Center; and website email preferences are under wallet.google.com > Settings. For pass information, also decide whether you mean all pass data or sharing for one particular pass.
