You generally cannot change the date of birth on an adult PlayStation Network account. PlayStation’s account-creation guidance says the birth date you enter cannot be changed later, and the sources reviewed for this guide document no self-service birthday edit for adult accounts. There is one documented exception: in the UK and Ireland, a parent or guardian can add an existing child account to their family, and the child then enters their date of birth as part of that process. If you are locked out because you cannot remember the date, that is a separate recovery problem.
Why an adult account’s birthday is fixed
PlayStation treats the date of birth as security information. Its guidance for the UK says the field is required for security measures, and it asks users to make sure to enter your date of birth correctly. This can’t be changed later. (How to create an account on PlayStation, UK). The Canadian version of the same help page carries the same restriction (How to create an account on PlayStation, Canada).
In practice, this means there is no Account Management setting or console menu that lets an adult replace a wrong birthday with a new one. If you search for one, you will not find a documented path, and any third-party tool or site claiming to change it should be treated with caution.

The child-account exception (UK and Ireland only)
PlayStation documents a narrow process for a parent or guardian to bring an existing child account into their family. It is not a general birthday editor for adult accounts. According to PlayStation’s guide to sending a family request to your child’s account (UK/Ireland), the feature is currently available only in the UK and Ireland, and both accounts must belong to the same country.

Before starting, confirm that:
- The child already has a PlayStation account and you know their sign-in ID and date of birth.
- You are an adult who will act as parent or guardian, signed in to your own account in the UK or Ireland.
- You understand that the account will become a child account managed through the PlayStation Family app once the request is accepted.
Step 1: Send the family request (parent or guardian)
- Sign in to Account Management on your PlayStation account.
- Open Family Management, then choose Add Family Member.
- Confirm that the child already has an account.
- Enter the child’s sign-in ID and date of birth.
- Read the notice describing what changes when the account is converted, then agree and send the family request.
Step 2: Accept the request (child)
- The child signs in to Account Management on their own account.
- Open Family Management and select the request you received.
- Choose to continue.
- When prompted, enter your date of birth.
If a game still shows the old date
PlayStation’s support page notes that if the updated birth date is not reflected in a game, you should restart the console and try again. This applies to the child-account update above. It is not evidence that an adult account’s birthday can be edited.
If you forgot the date of birth and cannot sign in
A forgotten birth date is usually a sign-in problem rather than a request to change the stored birthday. PlayStation’s sign-in troubleshooting guide lists forgotten account verification information as a reason to use its account recovery guidance or contact Support. Recovery is aimed at getting you back into the account. It does not guarantee that the birthday on record will be changed, so do not rely on it as a correction route.

Enter the right date when you create the account
PlayStation’s Rules (US) ask users to provide truthful account information, including their birthday, and not to pretend to be older than they are. Because the date cannot be changed later, check it before you submit the account-creation form. If you are setting up an account for a child, it is worth doing this carefully, since the family route above depends on the child’s sign-in ID and correct date of birth.
