To turn simultaneous resizing on or off in Windows 11, open Settings > System > Multitasking, expand Snap windows, then select or clear When I resize a snapped window, simultaneously resize any adjacent snapped window. Select the checkbox to enable the feature; clear it to disable it.
Change the adjacent-window resizing setting
- Open Settings.
- Select System, then Multitasking.
- Expand Snap windows.
- Find When I resize a snapped window, simultaneously resize any adjacent snapped window.
- Select the checkbox to enable simultaneous resizing, or clear it to disable the behavior.
The option controls whether an adjacent snapped window adjusts when you resize another snapped window. It does not turn Snap windows itself on or off.
Resize adjacent snapped windows
After enabling the option, arrange windows with Snap, then select and drag the divider between two adjacent snapped windows. Microsoft describes the adjoining window resizing to fit alongside the one being adjusted.

Do not confuse this with other Snap options
Snap windows includes separate controls for suggested windows after snapping (Snap Assist), showing layouts when hovering over the maximize button or dragging a window to the top, showing snapped windows in taskbar hover, Task View, and Alt+Tab (Snap groups), and allowing snapping before dragging a window all the way to the screen edge. Those settings are separate; you do not need to change them to control simultaneous resizing.

Snap layouts are also distinct from this checkbox. Microsoft notes that available predefined layouts can depend on display size, but its support information does not establish a build-by-build availability matrix for the simultaneous-resize setting. For keyboard snapping, Microsoft documents using the Windows key with the arrow keys.
