To capture a long, scrolling screenshot on a Samsung Galaxy: open the scrollable content, press Power/Side + Volume Down together, then tap the Scroll capture button (the icon with two downward arrows) in the screenshot toolbar. Tap the icon again to extend the image, and tap outside the toolbar when you have captured enough. Samsung saves the finished image in Gallery.
The control appears only when Samsung detects more content below the current screen. Some apps and protected pages disable screenshots, and menu labels can differ by Galaxy model and software version.
Use Scroll capture on a Samsung Galaxy
- Open the content. Navigate to the webpage, article, document or other screen that continues below the visible display. Scroll capture works with content that can actually scroll.
- Take a normal screenshot. Press the Power/Side button and Volume Down button at the same time, then release them. The screen flashes when the screenshot is taken. Samsung notes that button names or placement can vary by device. Samsung’s screenshot guide documents the button method.
- Start the long capture. When the screenshot toolbar appears, tap Scroll capture, shown as two downward arrows. The phone captures an additional section below the first screenshot.
- Extend it. Tap the Scroll capture icon again for each additional section you need. Samsung’s Saudi support instructions also say you can press and hold the icon to continue scrolling farther.
- Finish and save. Tap outside the toolbar when the image reaches the required length. Samsung says the completed image is saved automatically in Gallery.
The resulting file is one tall image rather than a series of separate screenshots. Samsung says the image is automatically resized, and the final length can vary with the content being captured.

If you take a screenshot but do not see the toolbar or the two-arrow icon, first enable the post-capture toolbar:

- Open Settings.
- Tap Advanced features.
- Choose Screenshots and screen recorder.
- Turn on Show toolbar after capturing.
This is the settings path listed in Samsung’s Saudi Scroll Capture guide. On a model without a screen-recording option, that guide says to select Screen capture instead. Exact labels and locations may differ by Galaxy phone, tablet and software version, so use the closest matching screenshot setting on your device.
Why the Scroll capture button is unavailable
The page does not have more content
Scroll capture is contextual. Samsung shows the control when scrolling is possible; a short page, dialog or screen that already fits the display may not trigger it. Open a longer page and try the screenshot again.
The app or website blocks screenshots
Samsung Canada notes that the icon may be unavailable on certain websites or apps. Privacy and security controls can prevent screenshots altogether. Samsung’s US support article states: “Not all screens or apps allow recordings or screenshots.” A missing control in a banking, streaming, secure-work or other protected app may therefore be intentional rather than a phone fault. The toolbar is disabled or disappears too quickly
Turn on Show toolbar after capturing using the settings path above, then repeat the Power/Side plus Volume Down screenshot. Release both buttons promptly; holding them can invoke other device actions instead of producing the screenshot toolbar.

The wrong buttons are being used
Use the physical Power/Side and Volume Down controls simultaneously. Samsung uses different wording for the power key on different generations, and button placement varies between phones and tablets. Consult your model’s on-device labels if the combination does not work.
Control how much of the page is included
Scroll capture is incremental rather than an all-at-once command. After the initial screenshot, each tap on the two-arrow icon adds more content. Stop when the required heading, instructions, receipt or article section is included. If you go too far, retake the screenshot and stop earlier; the feature does not provide a universal crop length that is independent of the page.
Samsung says capture length depends on the content and that the image is resized. Very long pages can therefore produce a tall, scaled image whose text is smaller than on screen. Open the saved file in Gallery to verify that the beginning, middle and end are present before sharing it.
Where to find and share the result
Open Gallery and look for the newest image. Samsung’s instructions say Scroll capture saves the image there automatically. From Gallery you can review the complete page, crop it, annotate it or share it using the normal Android sharing controls available on your device. If the image is not visible immediately, wait for Gallery to finish indexing and check the most recent screenshots location.

Practical capture checklist
- Place the page at the point where the screenshot should begin before pressing the buttons.
- Confirm that the page visibly continues below the display.
- Press Power/Side and Volume Down together, then release.
- Tap the two-downward-arrows Scroll capture control.
- Tap repeatedly, or press and hold where supported, until the required end point.
- Tap outside the toolbar and verify the image in Gallery.
- If the icon is absent, enable Settings > Advanced features > Screenshots and screen recorder > Show toolbar after capturing, recognizing that labels vary by model.

Troubleshooting by symptom
Nothing happens when the buttons are pressed
Press the two keys at exactly the same time and release quickly. Check that each physical button works independently. If the phone still does not capture, use your model’s current screenshot controls in Settings and confirm that screenshots are not restricted by the app.

A normal screenshot is saved but there is no toolbar
Enable Show toolbar after capturing under Settings > Advanced features > Screenshots and screen recorder. Then capture again. Samsung documents this toolbar setting, while warning that the wording can vary by software version.
The toolbar appears but Scroll capture is greyed out or absent
Move to a genuinely scrollable page rather than a fixed dialog, and try again. If the page still scrolls but the control is unavailable, the app or site may prohibit screenshots. Samsung’s support pages do not promise capture for every app or website.

Tap the two-arrow icon additional times before finishing. On supported models, pressing and holding the icon can continue the scroll. Capture length is content-dependent, so a very long page may require multiple extensions.
The saved image looks smaller than expected
Samsung says Scroll capture automatically resizes the image. Open it at full size in Gallery rather than judging the thumbnail, and crop or annotate a copy if you need a focused excerpt.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I start Scroll capture without first taking a screenshot?
No. Samsung’s workflow starts with the regular Power/Side plus Volume Down screenshot; Scroll capture is then selected from the toolbar.
Does Scroll capture create a PDF?
Samsung’s documented feature produces a tall image saved in Gallery. The support guidance does not describe a PDF export from Scroll capture.
