Open YouTube Home, arrange the feed exactly as you want it, and use your device’s built-in screenshot control. On Windows, press Windows + Shift + S for a selected area or use Print Screen for the whole display. On a Mac, press Shift + Command + 3 for the full screen or Shift + Command + 4 for a selection. On Android, press Power + Volume Down; on an iPhone, press Side + Volume Up, or Home + Side on models with a Home button.
Prepare the YouTube homepage before capturing
Open Home and wait for the feed
- Open YouTube in your browser or the YouTube app.
- Go to Home. On mobile web, YouTube normally opens on Home, although the site can be set to a mobile or desktop layout.
- Wait for thumbnails, titles and images to finish loading.
- Scroll to the exact position you want. Close menus, search suggestions, cookie notices, chat bubbles and other overlays that should not appear.
- Choose whether you need the entire visible screen, just the YouTube window, or a selected rectangle.
The Home feed is personalized. Your watch history, subscriptions and other preferences can change the recommendations, so two accounts can show different pages at the same time. If you need a reproducible record, note the account, date and time, and whether you were signed in.
Choose the capture scope

Windows 10 and Windows 11
Capture a selected part with Snipping Tool
- Display the YouTube Home section you want.
- Press Windows + Shift + S. The Snipping Tool overlay appears.
- Choose rectangular, window or full-screen mode from the toolbar.
- For a clean feed image, choose rectangular mode and drag around the YouTube content. Release the pointer to capture it.
- Select the notification that appears to open the result in Snipping Tool. Use its crop, pen or highlighter controls if needed.
- Select Save, choose a folder and image format, and confirm the filename.
The shortcut copies the capture to the clipboard as well as opening the Snipping Tool notification. You can paste it directly into an email, document or image editor with Ctrl + V.

Capture the whole screen with Print Screen
Press Print Screen (sometimes labeled PrtSc) to copy the full screen to the clipboard. Open Paint, Photos or another editor, press Ctrl + V, crop out browser tabs if necessary, and save the image. This method is useful when you want everything visible, but it can include notifications, other windows or a second monitor.

Capture only the YouTube window
Use Windows + Shift + S and select window mode, then click the browser window. If the browser is maximized, crop the address bar and tabs afterward when the screenshot is intended for publication.
Mac (macOS)
Capture the entire display
- Bring the YouTube Home page to the front.
- Press Shift + Command + 3.
- macOS saves the screenshot to the desktop by default unless you have changed the destination. Click its thumbnail to mark up or crop it.
Capture a selected region
- Press Shift + Command + 4. The pointer changes to crosshairs.
- Drag around the YouTube feed or the specific card you need, then release.
- Open the resulting file from the desktop and crop or annotate it if required.
Use the Screenshot app for window and timer options
Press Shift + Command + 5 on macOS Mojave 10.14 or later. The Screenshot toolbar lets you choose full-screen, window or selection capture, set a timer and change the save location. Choose the window option if you want the browser frame included without manually dragging a rectangle.
Android phones and tablets
Take a standard screenshot
- Open YouTube Home and position the feed.
- Press Power + Volume Down together, then release quickly.
- Tap the preview to crop, draw or share, or open the result later in Google Photos or your device’s Gallery.
Android manufacturers can change the buttons or on-screen controls. If the combination does not work, hold the Power button briefly and tap Screenshot. Consult the phone maker’s support instructions if neither method is available.
Capture more of a scrolling page
Android 12 and later offer Capture more on most screens that permit scrolling. Take a normal screenshot, tap Capture more in the preview, extend the selection downward, and save. The control is conditional: it may not appear in the YouTube app or mobile browser if that screen does not expose a supported scrolling surface. Review the long image for repeated or missing sections before sharing it.

iPhone and iPad
Face ID models
- Open YouTube Home and place the desired content on screen.
- Quickly press and release Side + Volume Up together.
- Tap the thumbnail in the lower-left corner to crop, draw, add text or share. Swipe the thumbnail away to save without editing.
Models with a Home button
Quickly press and release Home + Side together, then use the thumbnail editor or open the image in Photos.
Use Full Page when it is offered
For supported material, iOS may show a Full Page tab in the screenshot editor. Apple’s documented example is a webpage in Safari. Select it, review the page-length preview, then save or share the resulting PDF. Do not assume that Full Page is available inside every version of the YouTube app or mobile website; if the tab is absent, use several normal screenshots or a supported scrolling tool instead.
Making a clean, useful homepage screenshot
Remove accidental clutter
- Dismiss consent dialogs and notification prompts before capturing.
- Close the YouTube side menu, account menu and browser find bar.
- Hide unrelated windows and pause cursor movement over a thumbnail.
- Crop browser chrome when the reader needs to see the feed rather than the address bar.
Preserve context when it matters
Keep the YouTube logo, Home label or address bar when you need to prove which page was captured. For documentation, include the date in the filename, such as youtube-home-2026-09-30.png. If the image contains profile information, subscriptions or private recommendations, crop or blur those areas before publication.
Understand what a normal screenshot cannot do
A standard screenshot records only pixels currently rendered on the display. It does not automatically include videos or feed cards below the fold, and it will not preserve an interactive link. A scrolling or full-page result can also differ from the initial view because more recommendations load as you move down.

The shortcut does nothing
Press the keys simultaneously and release them quickly. On Windows, a compact keyboard may label Print Screen differently; use Windows + Shift + S instead. On Android, try the Power-button menu. On iPhone, verify that both buttons are being pressed on the same side or edge combination for your model.
The screenshot is black, blank or incomplete
Wait for the Home feed to finish loading, close overlays, and capture again. If only lower cards are missing, scroll farther and take another image; a standard screenshot cannot include content that was never rendered. In an API request, use a selector, delay or network-idle wait and inspect the X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers.

Check which account is signed in and whether you are on the mobile or desktop version. Recommendations depend on activity and preferences. Sign out or use an authorized test account only when that matches your documentation goal; otherwise crop sensitive cards before sharing.
Scrolling capture is unavailable
Capture more on Android and Full Page on iPhone are conditional features, not universal YouTube commands. If the control is missing, use several ordinary screenshots and label their order, or capture the visible page through a desktop selection workflow.

The result includes browser tabs or notifications
Use a selected-region or window capture instead of full screen, turn on Do Not Disturb, and crop the saved image. Re-capturing is safer than trying to erase text that overlaps the feed.
The API returns an error or an unexpected page
Check the access key, URL encoding and network timeout first. Confirm that the target URL is publicly reachable, then add the required wait, viewport, cookies or user-agent options. A bot check, timeout, blank page or failed load is reported as a non-clean result and is not billed as a clean shot.

Can I capture the YouTube homepage while signed out?
Yes. Open a private or signed-out session if you need the public Home experience, but expect the visible recommendations and layout to differ from a signed-in account.
Which file format should I choose?
PNG is a good choice for text and interface screenshots; JPEG is smaller for photographic thumbnails. Keep the original capture until you have finished cropping or annotating.
Can a screenshot prove when the page was captured?
It can show what was visible, but the image itself is not a cryptographic timestamp. Record the capture date, time zone, account state and URL alongside the file when an audit trail matters.
