To capture an entire webpage, use your browser’s full-page command—not the ordinary Print Screen or device shortcut. Firefox calls it Save full page, Chrome DevTools calls it Capture a full size screenshot, Microsoft Edge offers Capture full page, and Safari on iPhone exposes Full Page after you take a screenshot. These commands include content below the current viewport.
What makes a full-page screenshot different?
A normal screen capture records the pixels currently visible in the browser window. A full-page capture renders the webpage from its top to its bottom, including content that would require scrolling. That distinction matters for documenting a long article, reviewing a landing page, sharing a design, or keeping a visual record of a page state.
Use the browser’s built-in command first. It avoids installing an extension and gives you a workflow maintained with the browser. The exact label and location depend on your platform.

Firefox desktop: use “Save full page”
Firefox has a user-facing full-page capture option in its page context menu.

- INCREDIBLE CONTRAST: The VA panel produces brighter whites and deeper blacks. You get true-to-life images and more gradients with 16.7 million colors
- THE PERFECT VIEW: The 178/178 degree extra wide viewing angle prevents the shifting of colors when viewed from an offset angle, so you always get consistent colors

- A BETTER READING EXPERIENCE: For busy office workers, EasyRead mode provides a more paper-like experience for when viewing lengthy documents
- Open the webpage you want to capture and let it finish loading.
- Right-click an empty area of the page. (Use the equivalent context-menu gesture if you are on a device without a right mouse button.)
- Select Take Screenshot.
- Select Save full page.
- Save the result, or copy it if that is what you need.
Mozilla documents this workflow in Take screenshots in Firefox. Developers can also use Firefox Developer Tools. Its screenshot command supports the --fullpage option; the syntax and related options are documented in Firefox Developer Tools screenshot documentation.
When Firefox is the easiest choice
Firefox exposes the whole-page action directly in the capture menu, so you do not need to open a developer panel. It is a practical choice when you want a one-off image and do not need device emulation or scripting.
Chrome desktop: capture the full-size page from DevTools
Chrome’s documented route uses DevTools and Device mode. Device mode changes the emulated viewport; it is not proof that the page was captured on a physical phone.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Open the page in Chrome.
- Open DevTools with F12, Ctrl+Shift+I on Windows/Linux, or Command+Option+I on macOS.
- Turn on the device toolbar by selecting the phone/tablet icon, or press Ctrl+Shift+M (Windows/Linux) or Command+Shift+M (macOS).
- Open the DevTools More options menu.
- Choose Capture a full size screenshot.
Google documents the command in Simulate mobile devices with device mode. The resulting image covers the full page represented by the emulated viewport, including content outside the visible area.
Important Chrome limitation
Device mode is an approximation of a mobile device. A capture made with a desktop copy of Chrome in Device mode should not be described as a screenshot from a real handset. If you need a genuine iPhone capture, use the iPhone workflow below.

Microsoft Edge desktop: “Capture full page”
Edge includes a dedicated Screenshot tool.
- Open the webpage.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- In the Screenshot tool, choose Capture full page.
- Use the available markup controls if you want to annotate the result, then copy or save it.
Microsoft describes this feature at Screenshot Tool in Microsoft Edge | Capture Full Webpages. Shortcut and menu names can vary by Edge version or operating system. If the shortcut does not open the tool, find Screenshot in Edge’s browser menu and select the full-page option there.
iPhone Safari: choose “Full Page” after taking the screenshot
On an iPhone, the full-page choice appears in the screenshot preview rather than as a separate browser command.
- Open the webpage in Safari.
- Take a normal screenshot with the iPhone’s hardware buttons for your model.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail when it appears.
- At the top of the preview, select Full Page.
- Review the long capture, crop it if necessary, and use the save controls shown in the preview.
Apple’s current instructions, including the Safari webpage example, are at Take a screenshot on iPhone.
What “Full Page” means on iPhone
The option extends the capture beyond the screen so you can inspect an entire webpage. It is available in the screenshot editor after the initial screenshot; if you only see the visible image, tap the thumbnail and check the tabs at the top of the preview.
Which built-in method should you use?
| Platform | Documented action | Where it appears | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Firefox desktop | Save full page | Right-click page → Take Screenshot | Least technical desktop workflow |
| Chrome desktop | Capture a full size screenshot | DevTools → Device mode → More options | Developers who already use DevTools |
| Microsoft Edge desktop | Capture full page | Screenshot tool; Ctrl+Shift+S is documented | Quick capture with optional markup |
| iPhone Safari | Full Page | Screenshot thumbnail → Full Page | A genuine iPhone webpage capture |
This is a workflow comparison, not a claim that one browser produces a universally sharper or faster image. Choose the path that matches the device on which you need the page represented.

How to get a complete result on long or dynamic pages
Wait for the page to finish loading
Start the capture only after the main text, images, and embedded components have appeared. A capture started during navigation can preserve an incomplete state.

Some pages load images only as you approach them. Scroll through the page once, wait for visible sections to populate, then return to the top and run the full-page command again. This is practical advice rather than a guarantee: a page can still change while it is being captured.
Watch for infinite scrolling
An infinite-scroll feed has no fixed bottom. A browser command may capture only the content that exists when the capture runs, or it may stop at a loaded boundary. For a reproducible record, load the amount you need first and note that the page is dynamically generated.
Check nested scroll areas
A page can contain an inner panel with its own scrollbar. Full-page commands generally target the document, not every separately scrolling element. If information is trapped inside a panel, capture that element separately or use a tool that supports element selection.
Inspect the saved image
Open the result at its full dimensions. Look for cut-off sections, repeated fixed headers, missing images, or content that changed between the top and bottom of the capture. The official browser guides do not promise correct rendering for every page structure.

When the browser command fails: symptoms and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| The image ends at the viewport | You used the operating system’s ordinary screenshot shortcut. | Use the browser’s named full-page action: Save full page, Capture a full size screenshot, Capture full page, or Full Page. |
| Images are blank or missing | Lazy loading or unfinished network requests. | Wait, scroll through the page once, confirm images appear, and capture again. |
| The page stops partway down | Infinite scrolling, a nested scroll container, or a changing application state. | Load the required content first; capture the inner panel separately if needed; verify the saved result. |
| Chrome’s command is hard to find | Device mode or the DevTools menu is not open. | Enable the device toolbar, open More options, then choose Capture a full size screenshot. |
| Edge’s shortcut does nothing | Shortcut differences by version or platform. | Open Edge’s browser menu, select Screenshot, and choose Capture full page. |
| iPhone shows only the visible screenshot | The preview editor was not opened or Full Page was not selected. | Tap the screenshot thumbnail and choose Full Page at the top of the editor. |
| The capture contains a cookie banner, chat bubble, or popup | Those elements are part of the page state at capture time. | Dismiss them before capturing, or use an automated service that can remove common overlays. |

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. One GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF capture, so you can automate full-page screenshots without driving a desktop browser. The API documentation is at screenshotneo.com/docs/.
cURL
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Python
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
Node.js
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
Replace the example URL with the page you need and keep your access key private. ScreenshotNeo supports full-page capture with lazy images loaded, a CSS-selector element capture, dark mode, 12 device presets or any viewport, retina scale, image resizing, transparent backgrounds, custom CSS and JavaScript, click-before-capture actions, hidden selectors, waits for a selector, delay or network idle, and PDF settings such as paper size, margins, landscape mode and page ranges.
For pages that need controlled access or repeatable automation, it also supports custom headers, cookies, user agents and Authorization values; timezone and geolocation; blocking ads, trackers, requests or resource types; caching with a TTL you choose; signed links for public <img> tags; asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks; bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call; a usage API; and an OpenAPI specification. Parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work, which can simplify migration.
Before the capture, ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be turned off. Only clean shots are billed: bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits cost nothing. Responses identify the outcome with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
The Free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card. Paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots; yearly billing gives two months free, and every feature is included on every plan. Sign up for the free 1,000-screenshot plan.

Browser captures
A local browser capture costs nothing beyond the device and browser you already use, but it is tied to the page state, your connection, and the amount of content loaded. Long pages can be large images, and dynamic pages can change while the browser assembles the result. Recheck important captures rather than assuming a successful save means every section rendered.

Automated captures
An API is more suitable when you need the same operation repeatedly, from a build or script, across many URLs, or without a person present. Set an explicit wait strategy for pages that render client-side content, use caching when an unchanged result is acceptable, and inspect the response verdict and billing headers. For archival documents, choose PDF output when a document rather than a single tall image is the useful artifact.
FAQ
Can I use the ordinary Print Screen key for a full webpage?
No. That key normally captures the current display area. Use the browser-specific full-page command described for your platform.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Will a full-page screenshot include content hidden behind a click?
Not automatically. Content that appears only after an interaction may need to be expanded first. An automated workflow can click an element before capture when the tool supports that action.
Is a full-page screenshot the same as a PDF?
No. A full-page screenshot is an image of the rendered page. A PDF is a document representation with its own pagination and layout rules. Choose the format based on how the result will be reviewed or distributed.
