On a Mac, install a Safari extension from the App Store, then enable it in Safari > Settings > Extensions. Open the page, choose the extension’s full-page (not visible-area) command, and export in a format it supports. On iPhone, try Safari’s built-in Full Page screenshot first; it saves the entire page as a PDF in Files and may remove the need for an extension.
Full-page capture is not guaranteed on every site. Lazy-loaded sections, embedded charts, sticky elements, very long documents and dynamic content can produce incomplete results, so inspect the saved file before relying on it.
Capture an entire webpage on a Mac
- Check your Safari version. Apple says App Store Safari extensions require Safari 12 or later. Update macOS and Safari where practical.
- Open the extension store. In Safari, choose Safari > Safari Extensions. This opens the App Store’s Safari Extensions page.
- Install an extension. Select Get (or the displayed price), install the companion app if prompted, and complete its setup instructions.
- Turn it on in Safari. Choose Safari > Settings > Extensions, select the extension, and enable its checkbox. Safari profiles can have separate extension settings, so repeat this for each profile you use.
- Allow the access it needs. An extension that captures a page must be able to read that page. Review Safari’s website-access controls and allow only the sites or periods you are comfortable with. Extensions that require website access are off in Private Browsing by default unless you explicitly allow them.
- Capture the page. Open the target URL, click the extension’s toolbar button or popup, and choose Full Page, Entire Page or equivalent—not Visible Area.
- Export and inspect. Save in the available format, then check the beginning, middle and end of the result. Look for missing lazy-loaded images, clipped charts, duplicated sticky headers or an absent final section.
If a section is missing, scroll through the page once to trigger lazy loading, refresh, and capture again. A page-specific problem may remain; no extension can promise identical results on every dynamic site.

Take a full-page screenshot on iPhone without an extension
For a document-like copy of a Safari page, Apple’s iPhone User Guide describes a native route:
- Open the webpage in Safari and take a normal screenshot (the hardware-button shortcut for your iPhone model).
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail, then choose Full Page.
- Review the page preview and tap the share button.
- Choose Save to Files and select a folder. Safari saves the full-page capture as a PDF.
The native option is often the simplest answer when you need an entire article, receipt or reference page as a PDF. It is not a raster PNG or JPEG, and it does not provide every extension’s editing, selector or image-export feature. Interface labels can vary by iOS release; use the controls shown on your device.

Install and enable a Safari extension on iPhone
- In Safari, tap the Page Menu (the button beside the address bar).
- Tap Manage Extensions, then Browse Extensions to open App Store listings.
- Install an extension whose listing explicitly supports your iPhone (and iPad if needed).
- Open Settings > Apps > Safari > Extensions, select the extension, and turn on Allow Extension.
- If you use Safari profiles, enable it for every profile where you need it. Use Safari’s per-website controls in the Page Menu to restrict access on individual sites.
- Return to the page, open the Page Menu or the extension’s control, choose its full-page mode, export, and verify the complete result.
Apple advises checking the extensions you have installed and making sure you are familiar with what they do. Treat an App Store listing as a description of supplied features, not a guarantee that every site will capture perfectly.
What iPad users should expect
Apple documents extension management for iPhone and iPad, but the exact native full-page screenshot sequence can differ between iPadOS versions. Follow the current controls displayed on your iPad, and confirm that an extension’s listing names your iPadOS device. Test the output on the particular site you need before using it for records or publication.
Choose an extension by output and compatibility
App Store availability, prices, privacy labels and compatibility change by storefront and date. The examples below describe what current listings advertise; they are not independent performance tests or endorsements.
| Listing | Advertised capture/export | Questions to check before installing |
|---|---|---|
| FullPage Screenshot for Safari | Full-page and visible-area modes; PNG export. Its Mac listing advertises PDF export and built-in editing. The US listing showed $2.99 at the time of the cited research. | Does the current listing support your device and Safari version? Are the editing tools worth the price? What website access and privacy disclosures are shown? |
| Page Screenshot for Safari | Full-page and visible-area capture; JPEG export. The Mac listing describes PNG, JPEG and PDF output, Preview handoff and a maximum-height setting. | Will JPEG quality meet your needs? Does the height control create one image or multiple images? Is the current compatibility statement adequate? |
Pick PNG when you need lossless text and diagrams, JPEG when a smaller photographic image is acceptable, and PDF when the deliverable is a document rather than an image. A JPEG listing warns that images may pixelate when scaled or previewed on a computer.
Why full-page captures can be incomplete
- Lazy loading: images or sections are requested only after they enter the viewport. Scroll through the page first, then capture.
- Dynamic graphs: a chart may render after the extension starts or may be replaced with a blank area.
- Sticky elements: fixed navigation, cookie notices or chat controls can be repeated on every stitched segment.
- Unusually long pages: the extension or image format may impose a maximum height. A height setting, separate images or PDF output can be more practical.
- Zoom and layout: individual users have reported that changing page zoom altered whether a final section appeared. Treat that as a page-specific troubleshooting clue, not a measured success rate.
Current listing reviews include reports of omitted sections and blanked graphs for one extension. Those anecdotal reports do not establish a general failure percentage. Always open the saved file and compare it with the live page.
Permissions, profiles and privacy
Safari extensions may access webpage content to provide their features. On Mac, review the extension in Safari > Settings > Extensions, limit website access where possible, and separately decide whether to allow it in Private Browsing. On iPhone, use the global Allow Extension switch, profile-specific settings and per-site controls.
Recommended Free Tools
- Install extensions from developers you recognize.
- Read the listing’s stated data practices and requested permissions before enabling access.
- Use per-site access for sensitive pages rather than granting access to every website.
- Disable or remove the extension when you no longer need it.
App Store availability or reviews are not a substitute for reading the permission and privacy details.
Troubleshoot a missing or blank section
The extension does not appear
Confirm installation completed, then check Safari > Settings > Extensions on Mac or Settings > Apps > Safari > Extensions on iPhone. Verify the correct Safari profile is active and that the extension is allowed for the current site.
The result contains only the visible viewport
Reopen the extension and select its full-page mode. Some tools expose separate buttons for visible-area and full-page capture.
Images or lower sections are absent
Scroll through the page to load deferred content, wait for animations or graphs to finish, refresh, and capture again. If the site remains incomplete, try its print/PDF route or the iPhone native PDF method when appropriate.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The last section is clipped
Check whether the extension offers a maximum-height setting. Try a different zoom level and recapture, then inspect the bottom edge. This is a practical workaround, not a guarantee.
Private Browsing capture fails
Website-reading extensions are commonly disabled there by default. Open the extension settings and explicitly allow Private Browsing only if you trust the extension and need it.
The export is too large or pixelated
Choose PNG for text-heavy images, JPEG for smaller photographic output, or PDF for a long document. Avoid enlarging a JPEG substantially after export.

If your goal is an automated screenshot rather than a one-off Safari capture, ScreenshotNeo returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF from one request. Before capture it accepts cookie/consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and whether it was billed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Safari save a full-page screenshot as an image on iPhone?
Safari’s built-in Full Page capture saves a PDF in Files. Use an extension when you specifically need PNG or JPEG output.
Do Safari extensions work in Private Browsing?
Not automatically when they require website access. Enable Private Browsing access in the extension settings only after reviewing its permissions.
Quick Recap
Is an App Store screenshot extension guaranteed to capture every webpage?
No. Dynamic graphs, lazy-loaded content, page height and sticky elements can affect individual pages, so inspect each exported file.
