Canceling PlayStation Plus stops its next renewal; it does not normally end access immediately. Your benefits continue until the end date shown for your account. After that, monthly games claimed through Plus and other subscription benefits become unavailable, while games you bought—even at a Plus discount—and redeemed Plus packs or avatars remain yours.
Cancel PS Plus renewal
Use the route for your device or account. Sony notes that services and menu labels can vary by country or region, and console paths may differ with software versions. If a label does not match, use the current PlayStation support page for your region.
On the web
- Sign in to Account Management.
- Select Subscription from the left menu.
- Choose Cancel Subscription next to PlayStation Plus.
On PS5
- Open Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Subscriptions.
- Select PlayStation Plus, then choose Cancel Subscription.
On PS4
Sony’s cancellation guide lists PlayStation Plus > Manage Membership > Subscription > Cancel Subscription. Sony’s US usage terms give a different route: Settings > Account Management > Account Information > PlayStation Subscriptions. If neither path matches your console, check the local support page linked above.
Find when your benefits end
After canceling, open Subscription in Account Management and check the next payment or expiration date shown for your account. Sony says benefits continue through the end of the subscription period already paid for; its US terms state, “You can continue to use the benefits until your subscription or trial period expires.” (Sony Interactive Entertainment, PS Plus Usage Terms, accessed October 4, 2026.)

- Model Number CFI-2000
- Includes DualSense Wireless Controller, 1TB SSD, 2 Horizontal Stand Feet, HDMI Cable, AC power cord, USB cable, printed materials, ASTRO’s PLAYROOM (Pre-installed game)
- Vertical Stand sold seperately
If you change your mind, Sony says you can choose Reactivate Subscription before the next payment date. In the US, Sony’s terms say recurring charges continue at the current regular Store price until canceled. A trial may roll into a paid subscription, but canceling before it ends still allows benefits through the trial’s last day. Canceling renewal stops future charges; it does not itself refund payments already made under those US terms. Local purchase-cancellation rights may apply, so consult your region’s refund policy or support route for a refund question.
What you can still play after Plus ends
The key is how you obtained the game. “Downloaded” does not mean “owned”: monthly claims and catalog access are subscription entitlements, whereas a discounted checkout purchase is a purchase.

| Content or benefit | After membership ends | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly games claimed through Plus at no additional cost | Unavailable; an active membership is required to play them. | Adding a game to your library or downloading it does not make it a permanent purchase. See PlayStation Plus games and catalog information. |
| Game Catalog and Classics Catalog titles | Access requires a tier that includes the relevant catalog, and a title may leave the service. Sony’s US terms say downloaded games require both a valid subscription and continued availability in the service. | Check both your membership end date and the title’s catalog status or removal date. |
| Games bought at a Plus discount | Retained as purchases. | These are different from monthly games claimed at no additional cost. See Sony’s cancellation guidance. |
| Redeemed Plus packs and avatars | Retained. | Sony explicitly identifies these as exceptions in its cancellation guidance. |
| Online storage, multiplayer, and other Plus benefits | Subscription benefits end with the membership. | Check a game’s Store listing for its online requirement: most PS4 and PS5 multiplayer requires Plus, but some games do not. See PlayStation Plus support. |
Check region-specific account details
Use the date and subscription status shown in your own account rather than assuming a universal expiry date or menu path. Sony warns that PlayStation services may vary by country or region; its Spain subscription-management guidance is one example of region-specific support.
