In the United States, the listed Zcash fund identified in SEC filings is The Zcash ETF (ticker ZCSH), listed on NYSE Arca. To buy it, search for ZCSH in a brokerage account that supports the security, verify the fund and exchange, review the latest prospectus and order costs, then place an order for shares. You buy fund shares—not ZEC directly—and broker access is not guaranteed.
Steps to buy ZCSH in a brokerage account
-
Check whether your broker offers the security
Sign in to a brokerage account permitted to trade exchange-listed securities and search its order-entry screen for ZCSH. Availability and account restrictions vary by broker. If the symbol does not appear, ask the broker about access; do not substitute a similarly named cryptocurrency product.
-
Verify the fund and listing
Confirm that the result is The Zcash ETF and that the exchange is NYSE Arca. The fund was previously named Grayscale Zcash Trust (ZEC). Its SEC-filed listing certification and Form 8-A support the listing identification: SEC filing.

Review the latest prospectus
Before buying, read the current prospectus, especially its sponsor fee, valuation method, custody arrangements, and risk factors. Filings can change, so use the latest version available through the issuer or SEC rather than relying on a fee or other term quoted elsewhere.

Check the order preview and place your order
Review the quoted share price, quantity, order type, estimated charges, and any broker restrictions before submitting. A market order prioritizes execution but does not guarantee a particular price; a limit order sets the maximum price you will pay but may not execute. The prospectus says customary brokerage commissions and charges may apply in addition to fund expenses.
-
Monitor the holding
Your broker routes a securities order, and a completed purchase gives you fund shares representing a beneficial interest in the trust. It does not give you direct ownership of ZEC or require a Zcash wallet. The market price of shares can move with ZEC and can differ from the fund’s net asset value (NAV).
What ZCSH owns—and what a retail buyer owns
The trust holds ZEC and issues shares that represent beneficial interests in the trust. Retail investors buy and sell those shares through the exchange via a broker. Large-block creation and redemption are handled by authorized participants; an ordinary retail buyer does not create or redeem shares directly with the trust.
Fees and valuation to check before investing
The prospectus states an annual Sponsor’s Fee rate of 2.5% of the NAV Fee Basis Amount. This is a fund fee, not necessarily your full trading cost: brokerage commissions or other broker charges may be separate. The filing also explains that the amount of ZEC represented by each share declines over time as ZEC is used to pay fees and expenses. Confirm current terms in the latest prospectus and your order preview.
Rank #3
The prospectus describes an index price based on the CoinDesk Zcash Benchmark Rate as of April 1, 2026, with valuation described at 4:00 p.m. New York time on business days. Index methodology affects calculated NAV, while exchange trading supply and demand can cause the share price to trade above or below NAV.
Risks specific to the fund
- ZEC volatility: ZEC price moves can cause substantial changes in the value of the shares.
- Premiums and discounts: A share’s exchange price may differ from NAV. The prospectus reports that the trust’s pre-listing OTC shares traded at a discount to NAV on 700 days between October 18, 2021 and June 30, 2026, and reported a 17% discount as of June 30, 2026. Those figures describe historical OTC trading, not the current NYSE Arca price.
- Custody and loss: The prospectus warns that trust-held ZEC is not fully insured and that investors may have limited recourse if ZEC is lost and no person or entity is liable.
- Expenses: Sponsor fees and other expenses reduce the ZEC represented by each share over time.
Do not confuse a proposed fund with a listed one
A preliminary Winklevoss Zcash ETF registration statement filed October 6, 2026 anticipates Nasdaq trading under the ticker WINK, subject to issuance. Its filing says the prospectus is incomplete and the securities may not be sold before the registration statement becomes effective. That filing alone does not establish WINK as an available alternative. As of the filing information cited here, ZCSH is the listed product identified.
