Japan residents who meet Sony’s account and gameplay requirements can apply for a PS5 Pro through Sony Store by October 7, 2026, at 23:59 JST. If eligible applications outnumber the planned units, Sony will choose buyers by lottery. Selected applicants must complete online checkout by November 2, 2026, at 11:59 JST. This is a Japan-only route, not an open sale for visitors or nonresidents.

Check that you meet every eligibility requirement
Sony checks eligibility after applications close. You need to satisfy all of these conditions:
#1 Best Overall
- Ray Tracing - Immerse yourself in worlds with a new level of realism as rays of light are individually simulated, creating true-to-life shadows and reflections in supported PS5 games.
- Faster Loading - Fast-travel across the map and get back into the game almost instantly with the PlayStation 5 console’s ultra-high-speed SSD and fast load times.
- Stunning Visuals - Experience the vast world in stunning 4K and HDR at 120 FPS (with a 4K and HDR compatible TV or display)
- Breathtaking Immersion - Discover a deeper gaming experience with support for haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and 3D Audio technology.
- Backwards Compatibility - Play over 4,000 PS4 games on PS5. Enjoy faster and smoother frame rates in some of the PS4 console's greatest games.
- You reside in Japan and use PlayStation online services with a Sony account registered in Japan.
- Your account recorded at least 60 total hours of PS5 and/or PS4 gameplay between September 27, 2024, and September 27, 2026, at 23:59 JST. That measurement window has ended; playtime accumulated after it does not count.
- Your Sony account sign-in ID is linked to your My Sony ID. Sony says My Sony IDs newly registered from January 19, 2022, are already unified with the account. Older accounts or people without a My Sony ID may need to link them.
Sony permits one console per Sony account. If you do not meet the residence, account, or past-playtime conditions, this application is not a route to buy one.
Track the notice and checkout deadlines
| Stage | Sony’s stated timing or rule |
|---|---|
| Application deadline | October 7, 2026, 23:59 JST |
| Selected-applicant notices begin | From October 26, 2026 |
| Winner checkout deadline | November 2, 2026, 11:59 JST |
| Checkout | Dedicated online Sony Store page; a physical Sony Store cannot process the order |
| Payment methods listed | Credit card, Rakuten Pay, PayPay, and Merpay |
| Delivery | Within Japan only |
Use an email address you can access and check your spam folder. Sony warns that carrier email addresses and iCloud addresses may not receive its email successfully. Sony also says linking LINE after applying can enable winner notices through LINE; do not rely on that as a reason to overlook email or the checkout deadline.
After ordering, Sony does not allow an address change, forwarding request, or pickup at a delivery center. Applications and purchases for resale are prohibited, winner rights cannot be transferred, and Sony may invalidate an order for a missed deadline, false registration details, apparent resale intent, or prohibited delivery changes.

Sony’s application is limited to Japan residents with a Japan-registered account, and the offer ships only within Japan. If you do not qualify, check PlayStation Japan’s buying page and individual authorized retailers directly for live availability. The sources cited here do not establish current stock at any named third-party seller, so treat a retailer’s own current listing or stock page as the relevant confirmation.
Sony’s PlayStation buying guide recommends buying new products from authorized retailers, warning that unauthorized sellers may offer stolen or fraudulent goods. For a used console, Sony warns that warranty coverage may not apply. It advises checking seller reputation, asking for evidence that the ports, buttons, and console operation have been tested, inspecting the item, confirming it can connect to PlayStation services, and being cautious of unusually attractive offers.
