Yes—you can use your PlayStation wallet balance and a payment card for one PS5 game purchase. PlayStation Store uses wallet funds first, then lets you pay any remaining amount with another eligible payment method. The card must be supported in the country or region of your PlayStation account.

Can I use wallet funds and a card together on PS5?

Yes. PlayStation Support says wallet funds are applied first; if they do not cover the full purchase balance, the remainder can be settled with another payment method. Sony’s US terms also say it may automatically charge an approved payment method for the amount needed when the wallet balance is insufficient.

How to pay the rest with your card

  1. Add a payment method if needed. On PS5, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Payment Methods. Menu labels or availability can vary by region or software version. See PlayStation’s payment-method instructions.

  2. Check your wallet balance. Open PlayStation Store, press triangle, select … (More), and look for the balance beside your profile icon. See PlayStation’s PS5 Store instructions.

  3. Select the game and go to checkout. Wallet funds are used first. If the balance is short, the remaining amount can be charged to an eligible saved payment method.

  4. Check the total and payment method before confirming. Confirm that the displayed shortfall and payment method are what you expect.

Should you pay the shortfall at checkout or add wallet funds first?

Pay the shortfall at checkout Use the existing wallet balance first; charge the remainder to a saved, supported method. Convenient if the method is accepted for your account’s country or region.
Add wallet funds in advance Use the PS5 Add Funds menu to top up the wallet with a payment method, or redeem a PlayStation Store gift card. Added wallet funds cannot be refunded. A gift card is optional, not required to combine wallet funds and a card.

How to add money to your PS5 wallet

  1. On PS5, open Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Add Funds.

  2. Choose a payment method and amount, then continue through the prompts.

  3. Review the details and confirm. You can also fund the wallet with a PlayStation Store gift card; make sure the code matches your account’s country or region.

PlayStation says each adult account has its own wallet, which can be funded with a valid payment method or a gift card. Wallet funds added to the account cannot be refunded. See PlayStation’s wallet-funding guide.

Payment and account limits to know

  • Payment methods vary by region. For example, the US support page lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, and Cash App Pay. That list is specific to the US page, not a universal list.

  • Saved-method limits: Sony’s US support information allows up to three credit or debit cards and one payment service saved to an account.

  • Child accounts have no separate wallet. They cannot add funds themselves. A child can buy eligible content using the family manager’s wallet, subject to the child’s spending limit; Sony says the default monthly limit is zero. Details are in PlayStation’s wallet-funding guide.
