If a PS5 game is still available in the PlayStation Store for your account region, buy it there before its listing is removed. If it is already gone, check for a physical PS4 or PS5 edition that works with your console, or use a valid, unused voucher that matches your account region. Availability depends on the exact game, edition, country, and console model—so verify those details before paying.

1. Check the listing in your own PlayStation Store region

Search the exact game title while signed in to the PlayStation account you plan to use. PlayStation Store catalogs differ by country or region, so a listing visible in another country’s Store does not establish that you can buy or redeem it with your account. PlayStation says an account’s country or region cannot be changed after creation. Check your PlayStation account country or region.

Open the PlayStation Store on your PS5 or use the Store associated with your account.
Search the exact game name and inspect the product page for the platform and edition.
Confirm that the listing is the base game or the bundle you want. Check whether add-ons are sold separately.
Review the final checkout details before purchasing. Do not assume that a result from a different region, a bundle, or an add-on is the same product.

If the intended product is listed and checkout is available, complete the purchase through that regional Store. No particular title, region, or current listing is specified here, so availability and price must be checked on the product page.

2. If the digital listing is gone, check for a disc edition

A Store delisting can remove the option to make a new digital purchase; it does not, by itself, establish that a game already in your library has become unplayable. If the game is no longer listed for purchase, look for a physical edition only after confirming that the exact title was released on disc. Check whether the edition is for PS4 or PS5 and whether your console can use that disc.

PS5 disc edition

A PS5 disc requires a PS5 model with a compatible disc drive. PlayStation’s disc instructions require the game disc to remain inserted while playing. PlayStation’s guide to playing games on disc.

PS4 disc edition on PS5

PlayStation says the PS5 plays the overwhelming majority of PS4 games, but lists exceptions and warns that some titles may behave unexpectedly. A PS4 game disc cannot be used with a PS5 Digital Edition. If you intend to play a PS4 disc on a PS5, the disc must stay inserted during play. Confirm the exact game against PlayStation’s PS4-to-PS5 compatibility information.

Compare the listing’s edition and condition with what you need, and confirm that the seller has the actual disc. A console’s disc drive does not supply a copy of the game.

3. Consider a voucher only if it is valid for your account

A voucher may be another purchase route if an authorized, unused code for the exact game and edition is available. Before paying, confirm the code has not been redeemed and that its country or region matches your PlayStation account. PlayStation says voucher codes must match the account region and can be used only once. Check PlayStation’s voucher redemption guidance.

A code advertised for a different region is not a dependable workaround: Store catalogs and voucher compatibility vary by region, and PlayStation says the account region cannot be changed after creation.

4. Know what a delisting does—and does not—tell you

A listing disappearing is about the ability to make a new purchase through that Store listing. It does not alone tell you whether a previously purchased copy remains downloadable, whether a disc is available, or whether the game’s online features will continue. Online play and other connected features can depend on a publisher’s service, which may be withdrawn separately.

Do not confuse an individual game’s delisting with a PlayStation Store shutdown. Sony’s July 1, 2026 notice concerns PS3 and PS Vita storefront closures, including staged PS3 closures in some markets in 2026 and closures in other countries in July 2027. Sony says previously purchased content on those platforms will remain downloadable for the foreseeable future; that notice is not a PS5 Store closure announcement. 5. What the January 2028 disc announcement means

Sony announced that physical disc production for new PlayStation games will end starting in January 2028. It said the transition does not affect games already released, or scheduled to release before then, in disc format. That statement concerns the format transition for new releases; it does not establish that a specific delisted game had a disc edition, that copies remain in stock, or that an existing title will be reprinted.
