You can build the weather station documented by Ubidots with four XinaBox hardware items: a CW01 Wi-Fi core, SW01 Advanced Weather Sensor, IP01 USB programming interface, and XC10 xBUS connector pack. Program the CW01 from Arduino IDE, then send sensor readings to Ubidots to view them remotely. The tutorial describes HTTP in its walkthrough but also references MQTT, so check the code and transport settings rather than assuming the title alone identifies the protocol.
What the station measures
The SW01 uses a Bosch BME280 sensor. It measures temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure. The tutorial also describes altitude, cloud base, and dew point as values that can be calculated from those readings; they are not listed as direct measurements by the sensor.

Parts and software for the documented build
| Type | Item | Role in the build |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware | CW01 Wi-Fi core (ESP8266/ESP-12F) | Runs the program and provides Wi-Fi connectivity. |
| Hardware | SW01 Advanced Weather Sensor (Bosch BME280) | Provides temperature, humidity, and atmospheric-pressure readings. |
| Hardware | IP01 USB programming interface (FT232R) | Connects the assembled modules to a computer for programming. |
| Hardware | XC10 xBUS connector pack | Connects the modules together. |
| Software and service | Arduino IDE and ESP8266 Arduino platform | Development environment and platform used to program the CW01. |
| Software | Ubidots ESP8266 library, xCore, and xSW01 | Libraries named by the tutorial for the device, core, sensor, and Ubidots workflow. |
| Service | Ubidots account | Receives the readings and provides the remote device and dashboard view. |
These are the parts and software named in the Ubidots Help Center tutorial, dated September 26, 2024. It does not establish whether the listed hardware is currently available, whether revisions remain compatible, or whether the software is maintained today. Confirm the exact module and library versions before buying or building around this configuration.

- Use the XC10 xBUS connectors to join the CW01 Wi-Fi core and SW01 sensor.
- Connect the assembled modules to the computer through the IP01 USB programming interface.
- In Arduino IDE, install or configure the ESP8266 Arduino platform and the tutorial’s named libraries: Ubidots ESP8266 library, xCore, and xSW01.
- Configure the program for your Ubidots account and device, then compile and upload it to the CW01. The tutorial’s stated completion estimate is 10–15 minutes; this is Ubidots Help Center’s estimate, not an independently measured build time.
- Once the device is sending data, check the corresponding device record and variables in Ubidots.
The source describes the required components and intended workflow, but does not establish current compatibility details or give enough evidence to guarantee that a particular present-day IDE, library release, or hardware revision will work without adjustment.

How readings reach Ubidots—and the MQTT/HTTP discrepancy
The intended data flow is sensor readings from the SW01, processed by the CW01, sent over Wi-Fi to Ubidots for remote monitoring. However, the tutorial is internally inconsistent about transport: its title refers to MQTT, while the body says the tutorial uses HTTP and that MQTT could also be used. The sample-code excerpt includes the Ubidots ESP MQTT library. Treat HTTP as the body’s stated walkthrough and MQTT as a referenced alternative, but verify the actual sketch and library configuration you use before selecting or troubleshooting a transport.
View readings remotely
Ubidots is the cloud destination in this build. Its tutorial describes creating a device record and viewing the variables sent by the station. Dashboards can organize device data and derived insights using widgets such as charts, indicators, controls, tables, and graphs. The tutorial does not establish current account features, pricing, or plan limits, so check Ubidots directly for details relevant to your account.
Rank #2
- Kit represents the three core components of weather measurement: wind speed, wind direction and rainfall.
- It uses sealed magnetic reed switches and magnets so you'll need to source a voltage to take any measurements.
- All of the sensors in the weather meter kit are passive components. This means you will need a voltage source in order to measure anything with them.
- Sensors include Wind vane, Cup anemometer, Tipping bucket rain gauge. RJ11 terminated cables.
- Stand: Two-part mounting mast, Rain gauge mounting arm, Wind meter mounting bar, 2x Mounting clamps and 4x Zip ties.
Availability and compatibility limits
The guide documents one XinaBox configuration; it does not compare alternatives or verify current stock, product revisions, or ongoing software support. If a named module or library is unavailable, do not assume a replacement is interchangeable: confirm its sensor measurements, network connectivity and protocol, compatibility with Ubidots, programming requirements, and availability before adapting the build.

Quick Recap
Rank #3
- WEATHER STATION WITH 3 WIRELESS SENSORS - This weather station is equipped with 3 outdoor sensors so you can monitor the temperature and humidity indoors and in 3 different places. In the open area, the wireless sensors have a transmitting range of 330ft/100m (Please set the channels of the wireless sensor to channel 1, channel 2, and channel 3 respectively, otherwise the Weather Station will not be able to connect to all sensors.) and can be placed in different places according to your needs
- 12-IN-1 MULTIFUNCTION WEATHER STATION - This digital weather thermometer has 12 functions. Self-calibrating atomic time function, time setting, calendar display, 7 time zones, 2 alarm clocks with snooze functions, temp & hum display, weather forecast station, comfort level icon, barometric pressure reading, max/min records for temp and hum, low battery indication, backlight with 3 levels of brightness. This outdoor-indoor thermometer is easy to operate with 7 touch buttons for all settings
- ATOMIC CLOCK & DUAL ALARM - Weather stations wireless indoor outdoor with atomic clock signals can automatically or manually search for WWVB signals and calibrate the time. Please select the correct time zone (AST, EST, CST, MST, PST, AKT, HST) for your weather clock according to your location. The long range weather station can set two different time alarms at the same time and comes with a snooze function, which will help you to organize your time more rationally
- 7.5" FULL-COLOR TOUCH SCREEN WEATHER FORECAST STATION - Weather Station indoor outdoor thermometer wireless will predict the weather for the next 6-12 hours based on the sensor temp and hum of the barometric pressure fluctuations, rather than the current weather. And it is displayed by 6 weather icons: sunny, slightly cloudy, cloudy, rainy, heavy rainy, and snowy. This weather station has a large 7.5-inch color screen, so you can see the weather forecast and prepare for the next trip
- 2 POWER SUPPLY MODES & ADJUSTABLE BACKLIGHT - The home weather station is primarily powered using an AC-AC adapter power supply (included) or 2 x AAA batteries (not included). If using the power adapter, the screen will stay on, but when using battery power, the screen will automatically turn off after approximately 10 seconds to conserve power. In addition, you can always keep the screen on when using the power cord, and there are 3 levels of brightness to suit your different needs
