Build around the players you actually own, not a lineup made by copying every S-tier name. Use the October 5, 2026 Pocket Gamer tier list, labeled version 1.9.0, as a dated shortlist: cover goalkeeper, defense, midfield, and forward roles, then choose the highest-ranked available players whose roles and skills suit your team. The list is Mihail Katsoris’s view of the meta, not an official ranking or a tested formation.
What the tier list can—and cannot—tell you
Pocket Gamer’s Captain Tsubasa: Ace tier list considers player stats, skills, and available options. Its author, Mihail Katsoris, cautions that “there’s no absolute tier list.” That matters because the list has many more midfielders and forwards than goalkeepers, and a high ranking alone does not make a complete team.
Use S tier to identify candidates, not to dictate your entire lineup. The rankings are the author’s assessment; the page does not prescribe a tested formation or one best combination. The snapshot below reflects the page’s October 5, 2026 update, labeled version 1.9.0. Future updates and character releases may change the meta, so check the current list when making later decisions.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteStart by covering the four roles
Look at your available roster and first check whether you can field players for goalkeeper (GK), defense (DF), midfield (MF), and forward (FW). Then compare your options within each role by tier, rarity, and the specific skills or role descriptions available. If a role has no S-tier option in your roster, an A-tier player can still be a practical choice; the list describes A-tier players as solid options, particularly alongside strong S-tier players.

- Goalkeeper: prioritize a goalkeeper you own rather than leaving the role to chase a different position’s S-tier player.
- Defense: choose from your available defenders; several S-tier options are listed, but the tier label does not itself explain how to combine them.
- Midfield: consider the skills that fit your intended approach, such as carrying the ball, passing, intercepting, or shooting.
- Forward: select from your available forwards, balancing their list placement with the role and skills described for the individual player.
Use skills and role descriptions to choose between candidates
Tsubasa Ozora
Tsubasa is described as an all-round midfielder with strengths in dribbling, passing, and shooting. His “Undead Wings” skill boosts technique and dribbling when he uses a skill. Those details make him a candidate when you want a midfielder who can advance play and contribute in more than one way.
Jun Misugi
Misugi is described as strong at dribbling, intercepting, and shooting. Consider those listed strengths when choosing between him and another available midfielder; the tier placement alone does not tell you which player best fits your roster.
Rank #2
- From the Captain Tsubasa series.
- Features Tsubasa Ozora in his appearance from the storys Elementary School arc.
- Recreated pulling up his sleeve with a determined stare.
- Made of high quality materials.
- Great addition to any collection.
Taro Misaki
Misaki is described as a midfielder who can advance play, make the final pass, or score. His passive can trigger an auto-dribble against a tackle, and a successful dribble buffs his shot attribute. These are useful role details to weigh if you want a midfielder involved in both buildup and attacking chances.

Make the list work with the roster you have
- Inventory your players by role. Write down which goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards you can use. This reveals gaps before you focus on rankings.
- Use the tier list to compare candidates within each role. Start with S-tier options you own, but do not leave a role uncovered simply because its best-ranked player is unavailable.
- Compare skills and the described job. For midfielders, for example, decide whether a player’s listed strengths match how you want to move the ball or create chances.
- Keep strong A-tier options in consideration. The source calls A-tier players solid choices, especially when paired with strong S-tier players; rarity alone is not a reason to dismiss them.
- Recheck the dated ranking when the game changes. The page warns that updates and new characters affect the meta, so treat this snapshot as time-specific rather than permanent.
Why an S-tier-only lineup is not the answer
The snapshot has two S-tier goalkeepers, seven S-tier defenders, eight S-tier midfielders, and six S-tier forwards. That uneven distribution is a reminder to build by role rather than selecting names from one undifferentiated ranking. It also does not establish a single optimal formation, synergy, or winning lineup. The practical decision is which players you own can cover the roles you need and bring useful listed skills to those roles.
