Build around the heroes you own and have developed—not an idealized tier list. Pick a damage source suited to the activity, then add the support, durability, and fortress synergy that address your current bottleneck. Because progression and game modes can change what matters, there is no single best lineup for every account.
Start with your roster, progress, and activity
Before choosing heroes, note which units you own, how developed they are, and where the lineup is failing. A team that clears waves may not be the right one for a boss, dungeon, or PvP. Fortress Saga features upgradeable heroes, team synergies, hero weapons, dungeons, and PvP, according to its Google Play listing.

- Roster: List the heroes you can actually field. Do not build a plan around a limited or highly ranked hero you do not have.
- Development: Compare levels, stars, and practical access to upgrades. A lower-ranked hero you can develop may be a more workable choice for your account than a preferred pick you cannot yet build.
- Mode or stage: Name the activity and the problem: for example, a boss surviving too long, your team falling before a wave ends, or a PvP matchup going poorly.
Use the Pocket Gamer tier list as a snapshot, not a command. It was updated September 16, 2026 for version 2.1.02 and identifies Anubis as the latest addition. Its author describes rankings informed by the Japanese version and adapted for Global; they are editorial guidance, not official balance data or a promise that a hero is best for every server or account.

Give each slot a job
Think in functions rather than rarity. Role names such as dealer, tank, bruiser, and support are useful vocabulary, but they are not a mandatory official team template; an older Pocket Tactics guide uses these categories, while its March 13, 2024 rankings are too old to treat as current meta.
#1 Best Overall
- A build-it-yourself anime figure; requires assembly. Its highly articulated design and interchangeable parts allow for a variety of display options.
- Design inspiration: Includes the 30MF ROSAN LANCER, Rosan Fortress and Advanced Armour Accessory Pack, faithfully recreating the medieval style and details of the original artwork.
- Material: Crafted from high-quality PVC.
- Size: Approximately 15 cm / 5.9 inches in height when fully assembled, ideal for display on a desk, bookshelf, display cabinet or in a collection space.
- Gift: The perfect present for collectors, suitable for Christmas gifts, birthday presents and more.
- Damage: Choose a developed damage option that fits the activity. Consider whether the lineup needs hero-team damage, fortress damage, or both.
- Support or buffer: Favor a hero whose effects improve your chosen damage source or keep the fortress effective.
- Survival: If the team or fortress is dying before it can deal enough damage, consider a durable frontline, healing, shielding, or other available protection.
- Pressure control: Where a hero offers a useful effect such as silence, weigh it against the damage or survival contribution you would give up by using that slot.
These are selection questions, not a fixed number of slots for each role. The right balance depends on what is stopping your progress.
Compare the heroes you can field
When deciding between owned options, compare them in the context of the activity rather than relying on rank alone:
- Role in this mode: Does the hero address the specific problem you identified?
- Current development: How ready is the hero now, and can you reasonably upgrade them?
- Weapon and passive synergy: Does an available weapon or passive amplify the hero, another teammate, or the fortress?
- Durability and support: Will the lineup survive long enough to deliver its damage?
- Damage source: Does the hero strengthen fortress damage, hero-team damage, or a combination that suits the encounter?
Community roster discussions illustrate why these comparisons are account-specific: players weigh durability, weapon access, and substitutions based on what they own. That is useful context, not controlled evidence that one choice will outperform another for everyone.

Do not assume the same lineup remains optimal as you unlock systems or switch activities. A Reddit discussion about Stage 13-16 describes a player-reported shift after Harmony Sanctum unlock, with the fortress becoming the main damage source for a time. The suggested boss setup used Hoya as a fortress buffer, a tank, Mael for boss damage and silence, Violet for support, and another team buffer, with a sixth-slot option. Treat that as an anecdotal example for that progression and boss context—not a universal lineup or a verified rule for every stage.
If your own fortress damage has become central, test whether a fortress buffer and enough protection help more than another hero-team damage dealer. If the encounter instead depends on hero damage, survivability, or a different matchup, adjust accordingly. Recheck the role of each slot after a progression unlock and when moving among bosses, waves, dungeons, and PvP.
Quick Recap
A practical team-building checklist
- Write down the activity or stage and the failure point.
- Choose your best-developed owned damage option for that task.
- Add a support or buffer that benefits that damage source or the fortress.
- If survival is the limiting factor, make room for frontline durability or available healing or shielding.
- Check weapon and passive effects for synergies before settling on a substitute.
- Try the lineup in the problem activity, then change one slot at a time so you can tell what helped.
- Repeat the comparison after major progression unlocks or when changing modes.
