Mario Kart Tour loadouts are course-specific: choose one driver, one kart, and one glider, then prioritize the best course tier you own in each slot. If several owned items share a tier, compare their levels, base points, and abilities against how you score. Nintendo discontinued the game’s service at 11:00 p.m. PT on September 29, 2026, so treat this as a guide to the game’s historical loadout system—not a promise that you can still open the app or check an account.
What a loadout does
A loadout is a driver, kart, and glider selected for a particular course. The course’s item shelves show which of your items receive the strongest course benefits. A combination that works well on one course may not be the best on another because item coverage and course tiers vary. Nintendo’s game page describes the collectible drivers, karts, and gliders, while the historical mechanics reference explains how their course placement affects scoring.
Choose items by course tier first
- Check the course’s shelves for each category. Compare drivers with drivers, karts with karts, and gliders with gliders.
- Use a top-tier owned item in each slot when possible. If you do not own one for a category, compare your middle-tier options before considering bottom-tier choices.
- Break ties using level, base points, and ability. Consider the kind of actions or scoring style each item supports, as well as whether you can maintain combos on that course.
Course tier is a major factor, but it does not make every item at that tier interchangeable. Levels and base points differ, and special items or skills support different play styles. A higher numeric level alone does not erase a course-tier advantage.

What each slot contributes
Driver: item access and scoring
A driver’s course tier determines access to one, two, or three item slots. A top-tier driver can receive three items; when all three match, a Frenzy may be triggered. If multiple drivers have the same course tier, compare their levels, base points, and special items.

Kart: action-point multipliers
Kart course tier and level affect action points. The historical mechanics reference documents these course-tier multipliers before the applicable level multiplier:
| Kart course tier | Action-point course multiplier |
|---|---|
| Top tier | ×2 |
| Middle tier | ×1.5 |
| Bottom tier | ×1 |
A kart’s skill also boosts a particular action, such as mini-turbo or jump boost. When two karts share a course tier, consider which skill matches the actions you are likely to perform.

Glider: combo value and duration
Glider course tier affects combo points, and its tier and level affect how long you can continue a combo before it breaks. A higher-tier glider is especially useful on a course where you can chain frequent actions.

The score combines your selected items’ base points, bonuses from actions and combos during the race, and points for finishing position. Actions include jumps, item hits, and other in-game events. Chaining actions quickly adds combo points; the glider’s tier affects combo value and duration, while kart tier and level affect the action multiplier.

When comparing two options on the same course, use this order:
- Course tier.
- Item category: driver, kart, or glider.
- Level and base points shown for the item.
- The relevant ability: a driver’s special item, a kart’s action skill, or a glider’s combo-related benefit.
- Your scoring goal and ability to keep actions flowing into combos.
This is a way to compare candidates, not a guarantee that one setup will earn a particular score. Course conditions and your actions matter, and no universal ranking can replace a course- and inventory-specific choice.

Account for levels and historical upgrade limits
In the historical system described by the points guide, race experience and point-boost tickets raised an item’s base points, while points-cap tickets raised its maximum. When comparing candidates, use the levels and base points that applied to your own items rather than assuming every item of the same type has identical values. Rarity by itself is not a reason to spend a scarce upgrade resource if the item does not improve useful course coverage.

What cannot be determined without your inventory
There is no single best driver, kart, and glider combination for every player and course. A precise recommendation depends on the target course and the items in the player’s account, including their tiers, levels, and base points. Public references cannot establish what a specific account owns; with service discontinued, current in-game verification cannot be assumed.
Nintendo states that service for Mario Kart Tour on smart devices ended at 11:00 p.m. PT on September 29, 2026, in its service discontinuation notice. The scoring details above are historical mechanics documented by a community-edited reference whose stated basis is data gathered during the Ice Tour, not confirmation of current live-service behavior. A separate tips reference also describes score components and combo behavior.
