Build your team around a leveled attacker suited to the enemies in the event node, then borrow a support Servant to cover the biggest gap in your plan. That borrowed support does not count toward party cost, while your own Servants and their Craft Essences do. Because waves, enemy classes, event bonuses, and rosters vary, the dependable team is the one that clears your specific node—not a universal lineup.
Start with the event node, not a preset team
Before choosing Servants, identify the exact quest and what you want from it. Event conditions are temporary and may differ between regional clients, so check the current notice for your version of the game.
- Note the node’s wave structure and enemy classes.
- Decide whether you value event bonuses most or need the most consistent clear.
- Identify the event currency or item you are farming, and check the current notice for relevant Craft Essence effects and bonus rules.
Fate/Grand Order’s official party formation guide explains the general party mechanics, while the official beginner and returning-player guide recommends participating in events for event-limited Servants and items. Neither provides current quest-by-quest farming data, so use the live node in your regional client to make the actual team decision.

Check the enemy classes in each wave and choose your strongest available attacker with a favorable class matchup. Official guidance confirms that class matchups affect battle outcomes. For a multi-wave node, decide which Servant will handle each wave before filling the rest of the party.

A favorable matchup is a useful starting point, not a guarantee of a clear. The official pages do not establish damage thresholds or say that any particular low-rarity Servant can defeat a given event wave. If a wave survives your planned attack, reconsider the matchup, attacker level, skill use, or support choice.
Use the support slot to save party cost
You can deploy up to five of your own Servants and one Servant borrowed from another Master. The support may be borrowed regardless of party cost, making that slot a way to add a needed role without spending your own cost budget. Each of your deployed Servants has a Craft Essence slot, and party cost covers both your Servants and their Craft Essences; the party limit depends on your Master level. See the official party guide for these rules.

Pick a support for the job your plan actually needs: an attacker for a difficult wave, a favorable class matchup, or a skill that helps your team function. Do not choose a famous support automatically if another available Servant better addresses the node’s main obstacle. The support mechanic is official; which borrowed Servant is best is a tactical choice that depends on the node and your own roster.
Fill your owned slots by function and cost
Low-rarity Servants can help preserve party cost, but rarity alone does not make a unit useful for a particular farm. Add an owned Servant when it contributes something your plan needs, such as damage, a support effect, survivability, or backup if a wave does not go as expected. Leave room in the cost budget for Craft Essences rather than spending it all on Servants.

The official material cited here does not provide a current low-rarity farming tier list or a complete list of Servant costs. Avoid treating any named low-rarity unit as universally best: suitability depends on the actual enemies, your unit’s investment, and the role still missing from your team.
Equip event Craft Essences without making the clear unreliable
Event-specific Craft Essences may help with event bonuses when you own them and the current event makes them relevant. Each deployed Servant has one Craft Essence slot, and equipment consumes party cost. Choose the useful bonuses your cost limit allows while keeping enough strength to clear consistently.

Bonus effects, currency rules, and stacking behavior can depend on the active event. Check the current event notice for your regional client rather than assuming a bonus value or how multiple effects combine.
Invest in levels and skills that change the plan
Leveling raises a Servant’s parameters. Ascension can raise level caps and may unlock skills, while skill leveling improves skill effects and can reduce cooldowns at certain levels. For a repeat farm, start with the attacker and the skills that make a wave clear or support role reliable; do not assume every unit needs maximum investment. The official beginner guide describes leveling, ascension, skills, and ways to obtain materials and QP through the game.

Test a representative run, then adjust
- Build the planned party for the actual node, including Craft Essences, and check that it fits your party cost limit.
- Run the node using the skill and command-card plan you expect to repeat. Confirm that every wave can be cleared and that the team remains reliable.
- If a wave causes trouble, first reconsider the class matchup, attacker level, skill use, or the role filled by your borrowed support.
- If the team clears inconsistently, trade some event bonus for a more reliable setup rather than keeping a bonus that compromises the farm.
For an event quest formation, the official FAQ advises setting it to match the event currently being held. Its Japanese wording is “開催中のイベントに合わせて、「イベントクエスト」編成を設定しておきましょう!”; this is a direct translation, not an official English localization. See the official support FAQ.
Compare candidate teams on the trade-offs that matter
If more than one lineup can work, compare them against the same node and your own account rather than relying on an assumed universal best team.
| Compare | What to check |
|---|---|
| Clear reliability | Can the team handle every wave with your planned skills and command cards? |
| Party cost | Does the full party, including Craft Essences, fit your current limit? |
| Event bonus | How much event-relevant bonus does the lineup retain without undermining the clear? |
| Execution | How many turns and how much skill or button sequencing does the plan require? Verify this in your own run. |
| Investment | What levels, ascensions, or skill levels are needed for the lineup to work reliably? |
| Support dependence | Would the plan still work if the support Servant you prefer is unavailable? |
These are practical comparison criteria drawn from the documented cost, support, matchup, and training mechanics; they are not official performance measurements.

Exact farming advice needs the event name, regional client, current node composition, and relevant bonuses. The official beginner guide is dated 2025-03-29 and says its contents reflect that date; general party rules and the current FAQ pages were accessed 2026-10-04. Since event schedules, enemy compositions, and bonuses change—and may differ by region—check the current notice and node in your own client before committing to a lineup. Do not assume a particular turn count, drop rate, or event bonus without current, event-specific evidence.
