Build a Go admin dashboard by putting an authenticated Go backend between the browser and your error-monitoring API. Have the backend fetch unresolved issue groups, apply project and environment filters, convert provider responses into a stable internal model, and serve a triage table with a focused detail view. The example below uses Sentry’s issues API; keep the provider adapter replaceable so the UI does not depend on Sentry’s response format.

How should a Go error-triage dashboard be structured?

Separate the dashboard into three layers: a browser UI, a Go API that authenticates users and mediates requests, and an adapter that talks to the monitoring source. The browser should call your Go API, not the vendor API directly. This keeps vendor credentials out of client code and lets the backend enforce access rules, normalize data, and handle provider-specific errors.

  • Browser: show the unresolved-group list, filter controls, and selected issue details.
  • Go application: authenticate dashboard users, validate filter inputs, call the provider, and return only fields the UI needs.
  • Provider adapter: translate between the vendor’s API schema and an application-owned model.

This structure also works if you later change monitoring providers or feed the dashboard from an internal issue service. OpenTelemetry is useful for collecting telemetry, but the available OpenTelemetry documentation does not establish it as an issue-grouping and triage API equivalent to Sentry’s issue endpoints. Evaluate data shape, filters, authentication, hosting region, and adapter work before choosing a source.

What should the Go dashboard show?

Define a view model that reflects triage tasks rather than copying a provider response. For example:

type IssueGroup struct {
    ID string `json:"id"`
    Title string `json:"title"`
    Status string `json:"status"`
    Project string `json:"project"`
    Environment string `json:"environment,omitempty"`
    EventCount *int64 `json:"eventCount,omitempty"`
    LatestOccurred *time.Time `json:"latestOccurred,omitempty"`
    DetailURL string `json:"detailUrl,omitempty"`
}

Use pointers or another explicit optional representation for values a provider may omit. Do not invent an event count, latest occurrence, or detail link when the source does not return it. Keep provider-specific identifiers and URL rules inside the adapter where possible.

A compact list can include status, title, project, environment, available frequency or impact information, and recency. Selecting a row can open a panel that fetches detail on demand. Sentry’s issue-detail endpoint can provide basic stats, comment and user-report counts, and a latest-event summary; request only the fields your triage workflow actually displays. The provider does not prescribe a ranking formula, so define and label any prioritization score as your own product rule.

How can the dashboard list unresolved issues and filter by project or environment?

Sentry’s organization issue-list endpoint defaults to unresolved issues and supports project and environment filters. Build the request from validated filter values, rather than accepting an arbitrary upstream query from the browser. See the organization issues-list API documentation for the route and current parameter details.

  1. Read filters: accept project and environment selections from the authenticated dashboard request, and validate them against the projects and environments the user is allowed to access.
  2. Construct the upstream request: use the organization issue-list route with unresolved status and the selected filters. Encode query parameters with Go’s URL utilities instead of concatenating user input into a URL.
  3. Call the API from the server: attach a bearer token held in server-side configuration, not in HTML, JavaScript, or browser storage.
  4. Normalize the result: map the API response into IssueGroup values, treating missing optional fields safely.
  5. Return a bounded response: expose the list and any continuation information your adapter supports; do not assume pagination behavior without checking the live API documentation.

The reviewed API documentation supports these filters, but pagination and rate-limit behavior should be confirmed against the current endpoint documentation before implementation. Handle non-success responses explicitly: preserve useful provider status information in server logs, return a safe error to the browser, and avoid exposing credentials or raw sensitive payloads.

How should the Go backend authenticate and call Sentry?

Use a server-side bearer credential for Sentry API calls and grant only the scopes required by the selected endpoints. Sentry’s issue-detail API documents bearer authentication; confirm current scope requirements, account permissions, and list-endpoint authorization in the Sentry API documentation before deployment. Keep the token in a secret manager or protected runtime configuration, and redact it from logs.

Sentry describes its web API as version 0 and documents regional API hosts, including US and Germany examples. Make the API base host configurable for the organization’s region instead of embedding a single hostname throughout the code. Consult the Sentry API documentation for current regional endpoint guidance.

Use request timeouts and bounded response handling in the Go client. Surface actionable errors to dashboard users—for example, a permissions failure should not look like an empty issue list. The endpoint’s current pagination and rate-limit contract must be verified from the live documentation; design the adapter so those mechanics can be adjusted without changing the browser contract.

How should issue details and triage work?

Keep the list fast and fetch detail only when a person selects a group. The detail panel can present the latest-event summary and available statistics, along with comment and user-report counts when returned by the endpoint. This avoids requesting unnecessary detail for every row and gives the list a clear purpose: help a person decide what to inspect next.

Allow sorting or prioritization by useful signals such as available event frequency and latest occurrence, but explain the chosen ordering in the UI. A simple recency-first sort is a product choice, not a Sentry-defined priority. Preserve the provider’s status and project context so operators can make the final decision without mistaking a dashboard score for an authoritative severity.

Should the application send telemetry, and what does Go telemetry mean?

Application telemetry and Go toolchain telemetry are separate choices. If you want the dashboard’s Go service to report errors or performance data, evaluate the official Sentry Go SDK or OpenTelemetry Go according to your existing stack; neither is a required combination for building this dashboard. The Sentry SDK repository says its support policy covers the two most recent Go releases, so check its current support information before setting a Go version requirement.

The OpenTelemetry Go project documents traces and metrics as stable and logs at release-candidate status. This is a project maturity snapshot, not a guarantee that every exporter or instrumentation library has the same status. See the OpenTelemetry Go documentation when deciding which signals fit your application.

Go’s own toolchain telemetry controls do not determine what your application collects or uploads. The Go project states: “By default, telemetry data is kept only on the local computer, but users may opt in to uploading an approved subset of telemetry data to telemetry.go.dev.” That statement describes toolchain telemetry. Go 1.23 or later provides go telemetry controls for the toolchain’s on, off, and local modes; consult the Go Telemetry documentation for current behavior.

What should be verified before deploying?

  • Confirm current API route parameters, token scopes, account permissions, regional host, pagination, and rate-limit behavior in the official Sentry API documentation.
  • Ensure the dashboard’s own authentication and authorization restrict which projects and environments each user can query.
  • Keep credentials server-side, redact secrets from logs, and return only the issue fields necessary for triage.
  • Test empty results, missing optional fields, provider timeouts, authorization failures, and upstream errors so the UI does not confuse an API failure with zero unresolved issues.
  • Recheck the Sentry Go SDK’s supported Go releases and OpenTelemetry signal maturity when upgrading dependencies.
