To book a truffle-hunting tour in Istria, contact a local operator with your preferred date, party size and choice of a shared or private hunt. One operator, Truffle Hunting Croatia (Istriana Travel), lists guided forest walks with tasting lasting about 2.5–3 hours. Its listed adult prices range from €90 to €250, depending on the tour; transport and VAT are excluded, so confirm the full cost, meeting point and availability before you commit.
How to choose and book a tour
Truffle Hunting Croatia, operated by Istriana Travel, offers shared and private hunts for black or white truffles. The operator provides an inquiry form and contact details on its tour page. The page does not establish a live availability calendar, so contact the operator directly rather than assuming a date is open.
- Choose a tentative date and whether you want a black- or white-truffle tour.
- Tell the operator your group size and whether you prefer a shared or private experience; ask for the adult and child rates that apply to your party.
- Confirm availability, the precise meeting point, transport arrangements and the total price, including any applicable VAT.
- Verify the booking terms directly with the operator before finalizing travel plans.
What the listed tours include and cost
The operator describes the outing as a guided forest walk with a truffle hunter followed by a tasting. Shared hunts are capped at 10 people; each party has its own private table during the tasting. The figures below are adult prices listed on the operator’s page, accessed October 4, 2026—not guaranteed quotes. The page says that transport and VAT are not included.

When to go for black or white truffles
The operator lists white-truffle hunts and tastings from September 1 through December 15. The Istria Tourist Board’s seasonal information identifies October as the peak for white truffles. Truffles grow underground and are searched for with specially trained dogs, according to the regional tourism portal.
The Tourist Board’s 2026 events listing gives these dates: Motovun’s white-truffle season opening on September 5; Zigante Truffle Days from October 3 to November 1; the Teran and Truffle Festival in Motovun on October 17–18; and Livade’s Tuber Food Fest on October 24–25. Event schedules and tour availability can change, so confirm both close to your travel dates.

What the hunt is like—and what to wear
Expect to walk through a forest with a guide and trained truffle-hunting dog, then take part in a tasting. The operator gives an approximate duration of 2.5–3 hours. A hunt is an outdoor search, not a guaranteed harvest: the operator does not promise that guests will find a truffle or specify a likely quantity.
The operator advises wearing long pants and comfortable sneakers for walking in the forest. Comfortable closed-toe walking or hiking shoes are a sensible choice, but the operator does not require hiking boots or specify waterproof footwear. It also states that walking in the forest is at the visitor’s own risk.
