This Itechguide teaches you how to block someone on Google Hangouts. The guide offers steps to block someone on Google Hangouts from a PC, from the Android App or from the iPhone App.
Option 1: Block Someone Through a PC
- Open hangouts.google.com from your PC. Then login with your Hangouts account.
- On the left pane of the page, click on a person from your hangout lists – see the highlighted portion of the image below. This will open a Hangouts conversation.
- Then, on the top right of the hangout conversation window, click the gear icon.
- From the list of displayed options, click Block & report.
- Finally, on the confirmation page, click Confirm. If you also want to report the person, before clicking Confirm, check the Also report box.
Option 2: Block Someone via the Android App
- Open the Hangouts Android App. Then login with your Google account.
- From your Hangouts conversation list, tap on the person you want to block. This will open up a Hangouts conversation window.
- If this is the first time the person sent you an invite, the Invitations window will be displayed. To open the conversation, tap ACCEPT…
- From the top right of the Hangouts conversation window, tap the More button (3 dots). Then tap People.
- Finally, from the list of people displayed, beside the person you want to block tap the dots. A list of options will be displayed.
- Then, from the list of options tap Block.
- You will receive a final confirmation page. to block the person on Google Hangouts tap BLOCK.
Option 3: Block Someone Using the iPhone App
- Open Hangouts App from your iPhone. If you have not logged in already you will be required to login.
- Then from your conversation list, tap the person you want to block.
- When the conversation window opens, on the top right, tap the 3 dots. Then tap People.
- From the list of people in the conversation, tap the 3 dots beside the person you want to block.
- Then tap Block user.
- Finally, on the confirmation screen tap Block.
