Godlike.Host offers hosted Soulmask servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
To become an administrator on a Soulmask server, set an admin password, restart the server, join it, press ~ to open the console, run gm key followed by that password, and then confirm administrator access in the GM panel. A server password and an admin password are separate: the first controls who can join, while the second authorizes GM commands.
The procedure below reflects community-documented behavior. Menu names, console keys and GM commands can change with game patches or hosting-panel updates, so test the procedure on your own server before relying on it during an event or moderation incident.

- Control of the server launch settings or its hosting control panel.
- The ability to restart the server after changing its configuration.
- The admin password that will be entered with
gm key. - A keyboard layout that lets you open the in-game console.
Keep the admin password private. Do not post it in a public chat, server description or shared screenshot. If other people have seen it, change the password in the server configuration and restart the server before granting access again.
Do not confuse the two passwords
The normal server password is for joining the server. The admin password is used for GM authorization after you are inside the game. They can be different values, and using different values is safer. A player who knows only the join password should not be able to run administrative commands.

Choose the configuration method
There are two practical ways to provide the same admin password. Choose the route that matches who controls the server startup configuration.

Both methods supply the password used by gm key. The difference is only whether you edit the launch command yourself or use a provider’s control-panel field. Some hosted installations leave the field empty by default, so an administrator must fill it in before restarting.
Set the admin password
Self-hosted server: add -adminpsw
- Stop the running Soulmask server process if it is currently online.
- Open the server’s launch command, startup script or launch-options field.
- Add the parameter in this form:
-adminpsw="your password". - Replace the example value with a private password. Keep the quotation marks when the value contains spaces.
- Save the launch configuration and start the server again.
The exact location of launch options depends on how the server is started. The important part is that -adminpsw is present in the command that actually launches the dedicated server, not merely in an unrelated client shortcut.

Managed server: use the control panel
- Open the server’s configuration or startup page.
- Find the field labeled Admin Password. Some panels place it under Startup; others expose it in an editor named Soulmask Server Settings.
- Enter the password you intend to use with
gm key. - Save the configuration.
- Restart the Soulmask server from the panel.
Do not assume that a blank field means admin access is enabled. A blank or missing value usually means there is no password for the GM login step, so set an explicit value and restart.
Confirm that the new setting was loaded
Join only after the restart has completed. If the old password still works, or the new one does not, stop the server and inspect the startup setting again. A common cause is editing a panel field without applying the save or restart action, or changing a client launch option instead of the dedicated-server launch configuration.
Join the server and open the console
- Launch Soulmask and connect to the server using its normal address and, if configured, its server password.
- Once your character is in the world, press the tilde key,
~, to open the console. - If that key does not open anything, try the numpad minus key. Community reports also indicate that keyboard layout can matter: on some German layouts, switching Windows temporarily to QWERTY made the key immediately to the left of
1open the console.
The key that works can vary with the physical keyboard and operating-system layout. This is a client input issue, not evidence that the server password or admin password is wrong.

Run gm key and confirm administrator status
- With the console open, enter
gm key [password], replacing[password]with the admin password configured on the server. - Submit the command. This should open the GM panel.
- Enter the admin password again inside the panel when prompted.
- Confirm the prompt or authorization control that grants administrator status.
- Close the panel and test a harmless GM function before using destructive commands.
Opening the GM panel is not necessarily the same as becoming an administrator. The password must be entered and confirmed in the panel’s authorization step. If you can see the panel but commands do not work, repeat that confirmation step rather than assuming the login succeeded.
Check access after reconnecting
Community instructions disagree about persistence. One account says administrator status is lost between sessions and requires gm key again after every login; another says the rights remain after the panel is closed. Treat persistence as server- and build-dependent: disconnect, reconnect and run a harmless check on your own server. If access is gone, repeat the console command after each login.
GM commands documented by the community
Enter commands exactly as shown. The command names are case-sensitive, and several use Pinyin keywords rather than English words.

A kick command was not documented in the available instructions. Do not guess a syntax from another game; use the server’s documented moderation controls or remove the player through the normal server-management interface.

The console does not appear
- Try
~and the numpad minus key. - Check the operating-system keyboard layout. Switching temporarily to QWERTY can make the physical key left of
1respond correctly on layouts where tilde is mapped differently. - Make sure the game window has focus and that you are already connected to the server.
gm key says the password is wrong
- Confirm that you are using the admin password, not the server’s join password.
- Check spelling, capitalization, spaces and quotation marks in the launch parameter.
- Verify that the server was restarted after the password was changed.
- On a managed host, confirm that the panel value was saved in the Soulmask server settings rather than in a generic account or client field.
The panel opens, but you are not an admin
Run gm key [password] again and complete the password confirmation inside the GM panel. The panel’s appearance alone does not establish administrator status. Then test a low-impact command such as a manual save.
Commands do nothing or return an error
- Retype the command with the exact capitalization shown in the command reference.
- Do not translate Pinyin command names such as
FuHuoorBaoCun. - Check that the authorization step completed and that your session still has admin rights.
- Consider that a game update may have changed command behavior; community command lists are not guaranteed to match every build.
Admin access disappears after reconnecting
This behavior is unresolved in community guidance. Some instructions require repeating gm key after every login, while others report that rights persist after closing the panel. Test a disconnect and reconnect on your server and adopt the behavior you observe.

You are looking for ServerSetting.ini
The filename ServerSetting.ini is not confirmed by the available instructions. Hosting documentation describes a control-panel entry called Soulmask Server Settings, but it does not establish that this exact filename exists in every installation. Do not rename or edit an assumed file unless your host or server package explicitly identifies it.
An older guide mentions enabling console execution
A 2024 Steam-community discussion describes a separate in-game admin panel and an additional console-execution step. That may reflect an older build or a different client setup. Start with the current password-and-gm key flow above; use the older procedure only if your specific build clearly requires it.
Operate admin powers safely
- Use a unique admin password and share it only with people who need GM access.
- Test commands on a backup or quiet server before using teleport, NPC removal or moderation commands in a populated world.
- Use
gm BaoCunbefore planned maintenance, then wait for the save to finish before shutting down. - Record the exact command and SteamID when banning or unbanning someone so another administrator can audit the action.
- After a password leak, change the value, restart the server and require every administrator to authenticate with the new value.
What is established—and what is not
The password parameter, hosted-panel field, console workflow and commands listed here come from third-party hosting and Soulmask community instructions rather than an official developer administrator manual. No official Wuchang Studio or Steam step-by-step guide was identified for this procedure. Consequently, command names, keyboard behavior, persistence and panel labels should be treated as build-sensitive details and rechecked after updates.
For most servers, the reliable sequence is still: configure -adminpsw or the panel’s Admin Password, restart, join, open the console, run gm key, and confirm the password in the GM panel.
