To become an administrator on a Path of Titans server, add your Alderon Games ID (AGID) to the server’s administrator configuration or have an existing administrator promote you in-game. Your in-game nickname is not the identifier used by the configuration files. There are three documented approaches: add a ServerAdmins=AGID entry in Game.ini, assign an AGID to a role in Commands.ini, or use /promote while the server is running.
Configuration-file changes normally take effect only after the server is stopped and started again. The live promotion commands do not require a restart, but the account issuing them must have the promote permission. Because the current official Alderon Games administration specification is not publicly documented in the material available for this guide, treat file paths, key names and command permissions as build-dependent and confirm them with your server’s existing files and the in-game /help command.
What you need before changing anything
Have these details ready before editing a server:
- Access to the server control panel or files. A hosted server may expose
Game.iniandCommands.inithrough a web editor rather than a normal file browser. - The administrator’s AGID. Use the numeric Alderon Games ID, including its hyphens, rather than the player’s display name.
- A maintenance window if you will edit a configuration file. Save a copy of the original file first.
- A way to test permissions. Keep a non-owner account available so you can check what the new role can and cannot do.
Do not paste an AGID from memory. Copy it exactly and check every digit. A correctly formatted but wrong ID gives that person no access, while an ID copied from another player can grant administrative power to the wrong account.
Find the correct Alderon Games ID
Server administration identifies players by AGID. Third-party setup instructions say the ID can be viewed in account settings on the Alderon Games website and in the Alderon Games Launcher under My Settings. Those menu labels have not been confirmed against a current official administration document, so use the account or launcher screen that currently displays your numeric ID and copy it verbatim.

An AGID is normally shown as groups of numbers separated by hyphens, for example 048-236-424 or 123-456-789. The examples are format demonstrations, not real accounts. Do not substitute the player name shown above a dinosaur, a platform username or a Steam/Xbox/PlayStation account name.
Method 1: Add an administrator in Game.ini
The simplest file-based method is to place one ServerAdmins= line for each administrator beneath the [/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession] section in Game.ini. A typical block looks like this:

ServerAdmins=123-456-789Each line represents one AGID. Do not combine several IDs on one line, and do not remove unrelated settings from the section.
Step-by-step procedure
- Stop the server completely. Use the panel’s stop or shut-down action and wait until the process is no longer running. Editing while the server is writing its configuration can lose your changes.
- Open the server configuration directory. Public setup guides describe
PathOfTitans/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.inifor Linux installations andPathOfTitans/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/Game.inifor Windows installations. The two paths conflict across guides, so follow the directory structure that actually exists in your installation or panel. - Back up the existing file. Download it or duplicate it with a date in the filename so you can restore the previous settings.
- Locate the session section. Search for
[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]. If it is present, add the administrator entries directly beneath it. If it is absent, do not blindly create a second configuration section; check the file generated by your server build or host first. - Add one line per AGID. Use the exact key spelling
ServerAdmins=shown above. One published guide supplies that key name, while other summaries only say to add the AGID under the session header, so compare the syntax with an existing file from your installation. - Save as plain text. Keep the filename exactly
Game.ini. Do not let a desktop editor append.txt, change the character encoding unexpectedly or replace line breaks. - Start the server again. The new administrator list is read when the server loads. Join with the account whose AGID was added and test a harmless command.
Adding comments without changing the setting
In the configuration syntax described by the guides, a semicolon begins a comment. You can label an entry for your own records:
ServerAdmins=048-236-424 ; primary moderatorKeep comments short and verify that your host’s editor preserves them. If a panel rewrites the file, it may remove comments even though the setting remains valid.

Remove an administrator
Stop the server, delete that person’s complete ServerAdmins=AGID line, save the file and start the server. Removing a nickname from a player list does not revoke access if the AGID line remains. If the same person is also assigned a role in Commands.ini, remove that separate assignment as well.

Method 2: Assign a role in Commands.ini
Some server builds use a role system in Commands.ini instead of, or in addition to, the administrator list in Game.ini. A published hosting guide describes four built-in roles: Owner, Admin, Moderator and Creator.
Assign an existing role
Under a [PlayerRoles] section, place the AGID, an equals sign and the role name:

048-236-424=ModeratorThe role name must match the role defined by the server, including capitalization if the parser is case-sensitive. Guides describe these assignments as being read at startup, so stop and start the server after saving the file. If your panel has separate fields for player roles, use the panel’s generated format rather than creating a second [PlayerRoles] section.

Where the build supports custom roles, define a role section and list its permissions:

048-236-424=EventModeratorThe permission names are not a universal list. One guide uses +Permission=restart for the restart command, while other commands and versions may use different names. Start with the permissions already present in your server’s file, add only what the person needs, and verify the result with /help in-game.
When to prefer role assignments
Roles are useful when several staff members need different powers. Give a moderator moderation permissions without granting ownership-level settings, and reserve an owner role for the smallest possible number of accounts. A broad role is convenient but increases the impact of a stolen account or a mistaken command.
Method 3: Promote a player while the server is running
If an existing staff account already has the promote permission, it can grant a role without editing files or restarting the server.
Promote a player
- Join the target server with an account that already has permission to promote players.
- Confirm the target player is online and use the identifier format accepted by the current build.
- Run
/promote <user> <adminrole>, replacing<user>with the target and<adminrole>with the role to assign. - Have the target run
/helpor execute a low-risk command to confirm the role was applied.
For example, the command shape is:
/promote PlayerName ModeratorThe guides describe the placeholders as <user> and <adminrole>; they do not establish whether every current build accepts a nickname, an in-game player ID or another identifier. If a name containing spaces or punctuation fails, use the exact player-selection syntax shown by /help.
Demote a player
Run:
/demote <user>The documented behavior is to remove all administrator roles from that user. It is therefore broader than removing one permission from a custom role. Use it when you intend to revoke every admin role, and check the player’s status afterward.

Why the command may fail
- Your account does not have the promote permission.
- The target identifier is not in the format accepted by this game build.
- The role name does not exist or is misspelled.
- The server’s command set differs from the guide being followed.
- The player is offline or has disconnected between selection and execution.
Type /help in chat. The command list shown to your account is the most useful live indication of available commands and short descriptions.
Common Path of Titans administration commands
The following commands are listed by public server guides, but command names, capitalization, arguments and permissions can change between builds. Treat the table as a starting reference and use /help on the running server before relying on a command.

Do not test a destructive command on a live community without warning players. A restart, ban or world-state change can affect everyone currently connected and may be logged by the host.
Which administration method should you use?

Do not assume that an entry in one file automatically appears in the other. Game.ini administrator lines and Commands.ini role assignments are separate mechanisms. Use the one your current build and hosting panel document, and check both if you are auditing a server whose permissions do not match expectations.
Verify that the new administrator actually works
- Confirm the source ID. Compare the AGID in the account or launcher with the characters in the configuration file.
- Confirm the load cycle. For file edits, make sure the server completed a full stop and start after the save. A browser refresh of the panel is not enough.
- Check the live command list. The new account should see the commands appropriate to its role when it runs
/help. - Run a reversible test. Use a non-destructive action such as a test announcement, then remove the test message if the server supports that behavior.
- Test from a second account. A regular player should not gain the same command access. This catches an overly broad role or a role-definition mistake.
- Record the change. Note the AGID, assigned role, date and person who approved it. Keep the record outside the live configuration file if your panel rewrites comments.
Troubleshooting
The player remains a normal user after editing Game.ini
- Check that the line is under
[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession], not under an unrelated section. - Check the spelling and punctuation of
ServerAdmins=. - Check every digit and hyphen in the AGID.
- Confirm the server was stopped and started, rather than merely reloaded.
- Make sure you edited the active instance’s file. A host may have separate staging, test and production directories.
The file is in a different folder
Linux and Windows guides list different directory names: LinuxServer and WindowsServer. The correct location depends on the server installation and host panel. Search within the server’s own Saved/Config tree for the Game.ini that the active instance loads. Editing a similarly named backup or inactive instance has no effect.

A Commands.ini role is ignored
- Confirm the section is exactly
[PlayerRoles]. - Use the AGID on the left side of the equals sign and an existing role name on the right.
- Check that the role definition appears in the same file and that permission lines use the expected
+Permission=...syntax. - Restart the server if the build reads role assignments only at startup.
- Use
/helpto distinguish a missing permission from a command that does not exist in this build.
/promote returns a permission error
The account issuing the command must itself have the promote permission. Assign that permission through the server’s role system or ask an owner-level administrator to perform the promotion. A player having ordinary moderator commands does not necessarily have the ability to grant roles.

A command listed online does not work
Command lists are version-dependent, and some public pages are old; one indexed community wiki page was approximately 1,028 days old at the time it was listed. Treat its syntax as a hint, not a guarantee. Run /help, inspect the current role permissions and test on a private or low-population server before announcing a procedure to players.
Security and administration practices
Grant the minimum role needed
Use a moderator or custom role for routine moderation and reserve owner-level access for people who manage configuration and staff. The ability to restart, ban by IP, change world settings or promote other accounts has a larger operational impact than the ability to answer player questions.
Protect configuration files
Configuration files can contain more than administrator entries. Limit panel and file access to trusted staff, use unique control-panel credentials and keep backups somewhere that ordinary moderators cannot overwrite. Never publish a complete Commands.ini or Game.ini screenshot if it exposes private identifiers or host details.
Review staff regularly
When a moderator leaves, remove the AGID from every mechanism that granted access. A person demoted in-game can still regain access if a persistent ServerAdmins= line or [PlayerRoles] assignment remains. Review the files and live roles together.
Plan for a locked-out owner
Keep a verified backup of the last working configuration and make sure at least one trusted owner can access the host panel. If a malformed file prevents startup, restore the backup, remove the newest entry and start the service before attempting a narrower change.
What is established and what remains build-dependent
The consistent points across the available third-party instructions are the use of an AGID rather than a nickname, the ServerAdmins= pattern under the session header, role assignments under [PlayerRoles], startup loading for file changes and the existence of /promote, /demote and /help concepts. The exact active file path, the current key spelling in every build, accepted promotion target syntax and permission names are not established by an official Alderon Games administration reference in the available material.
That distinction matters when a guide and your server disagree. Do not force a Linux path onto a Windows installation, mix a role assignment into the wrong file or assume that a command from an older list still exists. Inspect the files generated by your server, use the live help output and make one controlled change at a time.
