Spoilers: A third-party walkthrough identifies Minamoto no Yoshitsune as the final boss and describes a three-phase fight. Its recommended approach is to parry and counter during the ground duel, evade the reported aerial attacks, then use Oni Awakening against the final phase. Capcom’s official material supports the game’s parry, stamina-break, Break Issen, and Oni Awakening mechanics, but does not confirm this boss’s identity or moves. Treat the encounter details below as guide-reported rather than officially verified.
What the walkthrough reports about the final boss
Onimusha Strats names Minamoto no Yoshitsune as the final boss and places the encounter at the end of “The Clash At Rendaino.” It describes three phases: a ground duel, an aerial phase, and a final phase featuring spectral attacks and illusion copies. The official Capcom and PlayStation pages reviewed do not independently confirm the boss identity, mission name, phase structure, or attack patterns.

The safest way to use the walkthrough is as a tactical outline, not a guaranteed script: read the attacks, prioritize defense when unsure, and attack when the boss gives you an opening.

The guide describes close-range sword combinations and recommends holding a defensive posture until you can read the sequence, then parrying the incoming strikes. It says repeated successful parries deplete Yoshitsune’s stamina and create an opening for Break Issen. Its specific claim about how many parries the boss requires is not independently confirmed.
#1 Best Overall
- Day 1 Edition includes the Base Game Disc, Steelbook, and World Map.
- Make The Story Your Own - Experience and shape the plot the way you want. Embark on the quest to save your family, or swear revenge on your sire and destroy everyone standing in your way. Discover ancient secrets lurking in the valley. Rush in head first or risk taking time to prepare. Go alone or search for friends and forge unlikely alliances.
- Day And Night - Experience two different gameplay loops, offering distinct abilities to choose from, mysteries to uncover, and varying ways to achieve your goals. Experiment with different approaches and discover how the world reacts to your actions.
- Every Action Matters - Every action - and inaction - shapes the world around you. Your family’s days are numbered, and every time you take on a quest, time moves forward, compelling you closer to the end. Choose carefully whom to help and whom to leave behind. You will not have time for everyone. The world waits for no one. And neither does the villain.
The underlying mechanic is supported by Capcom director Satoru Nihei, who explained that Break Issen becomes available after an enemy’s stamina gauge is completely depleted. Nihei’s PlayStation Blog interview also distinguishes the new system from traditional Issen timing: “Traditionally, Issen required strict frame-perfect timing, but this new system allows players to experience those iconic attacks across a much wider variety of combat scenarios.”
- Stay close enough to read the sword sequence, but avoid attacking through the boss’s active combo.
- Parry the strikes rather than trying to trade damage. The guide’s strategy depends on wearing down stamina with repeated parries.
- When the stamina-break opening appears, use Break Issen instead of continuing ordinary attacks into the boss’s defense.
Phase 2: Evade the reported aerial volleys
According to the walkthrough, Yoshitsune rises into the air, fires tracking projectile volleys, teleports, and then attacks with a downward strike. These moves and their timing are guide-reported; official material reviewed does not verify them.

- Marvel’s Wolverine is a new action-packed adventure from Insomniac Games
- Play as Wolverine and Ravage enemies with explosive brutality and unleash razor-sharp adamantium claws to deploy fast, fluid attacks and overcome impossible odds
- An Original, Emotionally Charged Story. Beneath Wolverine’s gruff exterior and violent temperament is a man fighting for a cause greater than himself
- A Global, Adrenaline-Fueled Journey where you slice into enemies across detailed locales such as the frosted Canadian Wilderness, the narrow streets of Tokyo, and the high and low districts of the island nation of Madripoor
- Dodge between volleys instead of committing to an attack while projectiles are tracking you.
- Keep enough room to react after the teleport, and avoid attacking until the downward strike has passed.
- Look for recovery after the landing to take a controlled counterattack, rather than trying to interrupt the aerial sequence.
Phase 3: Jump the waves and identify the real enemy
The guide describes broad energy waves and illusion copies in the final phase. It recommends jumping over the wave and confirming which figure is real before attacking. It also advises activating Oni Awakening at the start of this phase. Oni Awakening is an official game feature, but this specific timing is the guide’s suggestion, not an officially confirmed boss instruction.
- When a broad wave approaches, follow the guide’s advice to jump over it rather than rushing in.
- Pause long enough to identify the real Yoshitsune among the reported copies before spending an attack.
- If following the walkthrough, activate Oni Awakening as this phase begins, then use the openings you can safely confirm.
How to apply the strategy without overcommitting
Across the reported phases, the advice favors controlled defense over constant offense. Parrying is the guide’s main way to create a stamina-break opportunity in the ground duel; dodging is its recommendation for the aerial volleys and final wave. If an attack pattern differs from the guide, prioritize reacting to what is on screen rather than forcing the described sequence.

Precision meets intensity in high-stakes combat.
Capcom’s general game materials also describe using souls and treasures to upgrade gear and unlock abilities, and note that arrows can sever a boss from its power source in a duel. Those are general systems, not confirmed Yoshitsune-specific requirements, so they should not be treated as mandatory steps for this encounter.
