To beat Bonemass in Valheim, use a blunt weapon, carry Poison Resistance Mead, and keep moving when the boss releases poison. Deal with the minions it summons before they crowd your space. These tactics address the fight’s main threats without relying on a particular build or an exploit.

1. Choose a blunt weapon

Bonemass is vulnerable to blunt damage, making that damage type a sound choice for the fight. An Iron Mace is a practical option; it is not the only weapon that can work, and the available evidence does not establish a single best weapon for every character or play style. The Valheim Wiki’s Bonemass overview and the boss strategies guide support blunt weapons as a useful approach.

2. Prepare for poison, then leave its danger area

Bring Poison Resistance Mead to reduce the risk posed by Bonemass’s poison attack. Resistance is preparation, not a reason to stand in the attack: watch for the tell and move away from the affected area. A community boss-strategy guide recommends poison resistance and avoiding the poison cloud. Exact current damage and timing values are not established here, so focus on recognizing the attack and creating distance rather than counting on a precise dodge window.

3. Keep room to maneuver and manage the minions

Bonemass summons minions, adding pressure while you handle its attacks. Keep enough open space to move around the arena, and respond to the adds before they accumulate and restrict your movement. Kiting the boss and minions can help you avoid being pinned down; the fight does not require making the arena completely safe or using a specific exploit.

What defeating Bonemass unlocks

Defeating Bonemass grants the Wishbone, which helps locate silver in Mountain biomes. That reward makes the fight a progression step as well as a boss encounter. The Bonemass overview describes the reward, and the Valheim 1.0 progression guide places it in the route toward Mountain exploration.
