You can’t confirm that an AdultFriendFinder profile is genuine from a photo, a detailed bio, or a verification badge alone. Check whether the profile and conversation stay consistent, watch for pressure to share money or personal details, and treat ConfirmID as one limited identity-check signal—not proof that someone is safe or sincere. AdultFriendFinder says there is no foolproof way to identify a catphisher.
1. Check whether the profile and conversation stay consistent
Compare what the person tells you over time with the basic details they chose to share on their profile. Pay attention to material contradictions, evasive answers to ordinary questions, or details that shift without explanation.
This is a judgment call, not a reliable detection test: one inconsistency does not prove a profile is fake. And a polished profile or attractive picture does not prove the person shown is the person messaging you. AdultFriendFinder cautions that people appearing in photos and videos may not be actual members.
2. Watch for money requests, personal-information asks, and pressure
A request for money, bank information, or sensitive personal details from someone you have just met is a serious warning sign. AdultFriendFinder’s online-safety advice says to keep early communication on the site, avoid sharing personal information with new contacts, and not send money even when a story sounds urgent. Avoid clicking suspicious links as well.

The service specifically warns against sharing details such as where you work, your home address, family members’ names, or Social Security information. Keep the conversation on-platform while you decide whether you trust the person; a push to move elsewhere quickly can make it harder to use the site’s safety controls.
3. Understand what ConfirmID can—and cannot—tell you
AdultFriendFinder’s ConfirmID instructions describe scanning a government-issued ID and completing a face scan. Those steps indicate that an identity-check process was completed; they do not establish a member’s intentions, current activity, or criminal history. AdultFriendFinder says it does not conduct criminal background screening, and its materials do not independently establish that every member has completed ConfirmID or that the process guarantees authenticity.

Use verification as one signal alongside the profile and interaction—not as a safety guarantee. If the person pressures you, asks for money or sensitive details, or otherwise makes you uncomfortable, stop engaging and use the platform’s block and report options.

What to do if you think a profile is fake
- Do not send money or share sensitive information. Avoid giving out banking details, your address, workplace, or other identifying information.
- Keep evidence within the service where practical. Note the member’s username and the behavior that concerns you.
- Block and report the account. AdultFriendFinder’s help instructions describe reporting through Report Abuse and providing the suspected username, a reason, and a comment. Its message-center guide also explains how to mark a message as spam, block the member, and submit an abuse report; marking spam is described as blocking the sender too. Interface labels may vary by device or account.
AdultFriendFinder’s safety guidance and help pages explain its advice and available controls, but they do not provide an independently measured fake-profile rate or a validated screening method. No single profile clue can settle whether someone is genuine.
