To approach a brand as a creator, pick companies whose product genuinely fits what your audience already watches, find a real contact route into the company, and send a short, specific message that includes accurate audience information and one or two collaboration ideas. Then agree on the scope of the work before you commit to anything, and disclose the partnership clearly in every endorsement. No method guarantees a reply, a deal, or a particular fee, but this sequence gives a brand what it needs to evaluate you quickly.
Start with a fit you can explain in one sentence
YouTube’s official guidance advises creators to partner with brands they believe in and think their audience will like. It also suggests that you state your own limits and preferences early, because a brand that knows what you will and will not do can plan around it.
Test every prospect against one question: can you finish this sentence honestly? “My audience asks about this, and this brand’s product helps with that.” If the sentence depends on a stretch, skip the brand.

Be careful about experience. FTC influencer guidance says creators cannot describe their experience with a product they have not tried. A brand fit alone does not justify an endorsement. If you have not used the product, the honest pitch is a proposal to test it and report what happened, with the brand agreeing that you may say so. Do not write a pitch that implies you already use it.

Build a short prospect list
- List the three to five subjects your audience returns to most often, based on comments, search terms in YouTube Studio, and the videos that performed best.
- For each subject, name the brands whose products or services serve that need.
- Cut any brand you could not explain to your audience in one honest sentence.
- For each remaining brand, note the contact route you plan to use (see the routes below) and the reason you believe the match is real.
A list of eight to twelve brands is easier to work through well than a list of fifty sent in bulk.
Prepare a media kit before you write
YouTube’s help article on brand deals states that “A Media Kit is an essential tool for creators looking to secure brand partnerships and other monetization opportunities.” The guidance says a media kit should be short enough to scan and should explain why you want to work with the brand, describe the channel and audience, share relevant statistics and audience demographics, and include ideas for a collaboration.
The data YouTube lists as useful includes active subscribers, view count, unique viewers, watch time, and typical retention. These are suggested data types, not benchmarks, and a brand cannot judge them unless you state where each figure came from and what period it covers. YouTube’s guidance does not set a reporting window, so choose one, state it on the page, and use the same window for every figure.
Rank #2
| Media kit section | What to include | What it lets the brand decide |
|---|---|---|
| Why this brand | Two or three sentences on why the product suits your audience | Whether the fit is real or generic |
| Channel and audience | What the channel covers, upload format, and who watches it | Whether your audience matches the buyer they want |
| Performance | Subscribers, views, unique viewers, watch time, and typical retention, each with platform and date range | Whether the scale and attention fit their goals |
| Demographics | Audience age, location, and other breakdowns available in your analytics | Whether the reach is in the markets they sell to |
| Collaboration ideas | One or two formats, such as a dedicated video, an integration, or a short segment | How the work would look in practice |
| Limits and preferences | Topics, formats, or claims you will not make | Whether the partnership will suit you before anyone spends time on it |
Keep the kit to one or two pages, update it when your numbers change, and do not paste in a figure you cannot reproduce from your own Studio data.
Find a real route into the brand
YouTube’s guidance lists three ways to reach a brand: the brand’s website contact form, a marketing contact found on LinkedIn, and the brand’s account on X. Use a route that is current and appropriate for the company. A marketing contact who has moved on, or an inbox nobody reads, costs you time and tells you nothing about the brand.
| Route | Best used when | Check before you use it |
|---|---|---|
| Brand website contact form | The site has a partnerships, creators, or press form | The form asks for a category that matches your pitch, and the site lists a current business contact |
| LinkedIn marketing contact | You can identify a person responsible for marketing or partnerships | The person’s role is current and the message refers to their work, not a generic template |
| X (formerly Twitter) account | The brand publicly answers creator or partnership messages | The account is the brand’s official one and the message is short enough to read in a feed |
| YouTube Creator Partnerships | Your channel is eligible through the YouTube Partner Program | Check your current YouTube Studio account; availability and eligibility vary, so do not assume you have access |
If you have access to Creator Partnerships, it can surface brand inquiries and campaign details. Deals from those inquiries are negotiated and signed directly with the brand, so the scope discussion below still applies.

Write the first message
A sound first message is short and specific. It should include:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Who you are and what the channel covers, in one sentence.
- Why this brand is relevant to that audience, tied to a topic or a viewer need.
- One or two accurate audience or performance facts, each with its platform and date range.
- A link to your media kit.
- One or two plausible collaboration ideas.
- A clear next step, such as a short call about campaign goals or deliverables.
Write the message for the person who will read it. A product manager and a partnerships lead care about different details. If the brand’s own content shows a campaign they run, refer to it accurately. Do not send the same paragraph to every company.
Treat a reply as the start of a scope discussion
Before you agree to anything, get the requested work in writing. Clarify the following:

YouTube’s Creator Partnerships material lists deliverables, talking points, calls to action, and product information as items creators may encounter, and it advises creators to understand the agreement terms before signing. Read those terms closely, especially usage rights and any exclusivity.
The official guidance reviewed here does not establish a standard fee, a typical deliverable package, or a response rate. Discuss money after the work and the rights are clear, and do not use averages you have seen quoted without a source. Rates depend on scope, audience, and market, and no benchmark in the sources reviewed applies to every creator.
Disclose the relationship in the endorsement itself
For content aimed at U.S. viewers, FTC staff guidance treats a material connection as including payment, free or discounted products or services, and certain personal, family, or employment relationships. When one exists and the content endorses the sponsor, the disclosure is required. The FTC places that responsibility on creators as well as advertisers. As the FTC’s Disclosures 101 for Social Media Influencers (2019) puts it: “As an influencer, it’s your responsibility to make these disclosures, to be familiar with the Endorsement Guides, and to comply with laws against deceptive ads.”

The FTC’s disclosure material is written for U.S. law and was originally published in November 2019. The FTC’s Endorsement Guides were revised in 2023, and the FTC’s staff Q&A on them is available at FTC: Endorsement Guides, what people are asking. If your audience or your sponsor is outside the United States, check the disclosure rules that apply where you and your viewers are.
Common problems and how to fix them
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No reply | Wrong or outdated contact route, or a message that did not state a clear next step | Confirm the route is current, then try another route listed above. Make the next step a single, concrete question. |
| The brand asks you to endorse a product you have not used | The brand is working from a template, or the fit is weaker than it looked | Propose testing the product first and reporting the result honestly, or decline. |
| The brand questions your numbers | The figures had no platform, date range, or source | Restate each figure with its platform and period, taken from current analytics. |
| The deliverables keep shifting | The scope was never written down | Summarize the agreed scope in writing and ask the brand to confirm it before work begins. |
| A viewer comments that the sponsorship is hidden | The disclosure sits in the description or after a “more” cut | Move the disclosure into the video or the opening of the post, and update the description to match. |
Or let it run in the cloud
Some sponsorships ask for a channel that stays live around the clock, such as a looping product showcase or a playlist that carries a sponsor’s content between scheduled uploads. If that is the deal, a machine at home does not have to stay on to keep it running. StreamNeo is a cloud service made by Yorker Media that keeps a YouTube channel live 24/7 from videos you upload. It plays uploaded recordings and playlists; it does not go live from a camera, and it streams to YouTube only.
- Upload a recording or build a playlist of the videos you want to loop.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live. StreamNeo loops the content from the cloud.
- Nothing has to stay on at home: no computer, OBS session, or home connection needs to remain running.
- Any quality up to 4K 60fps streams as you uploaded it, with no re-encode and no quality tiers, at one flat price per slot.
- Automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card, one free day per account.
- Billing can be daily, weekly, monthly, for six months, or yearly, and you can cancel at any time. UPI and cards are accepted in India, and card checkout is available worldwide.
Every slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage pooled across your active slots, looping and playlists, and support from the StreamNeo team. The same product is offered on every plan; only the length changes. The Monthly price is $9.99 per month.
To try it, start your free day at https://app.streamneo.com/register, or review the options on the StreamNeo pricing page.
