To get Calculator into Control Center, open Control Center, tap the Add button, tap Add a Control, and then tap Calculator in the gallery. Once it is added, you can open Calculator from Control Center without searching the Home Screen or App Library.
Add Calculator to Control Center step by step
- Open Control Center. On an iPhone with Face ID, swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen. On an iPhone with a Home button, swipe up from the bottom edge.
- Enter editing mode. Tap the Add button (the plus sign) in Control Center.
- Open the gallery. Tap Add a Control at the bottom of the screen. This opens the list of controls you can add.
- Choose Calculator. Tap Calculator in the gallery. It is added to your Control Center layout.
- Close Control Center. Tap Done or swipe up, or tap outside the panel, to leave the editor.
Opening Control Center on your model
The gesture depends on the hardware. Apple’s iPhone guide describes two versions, and the one you use is the one that matches your phone.

Rearranging or removing Calculator after you add it
Apple’s Use and customize Control Center on iPhone guide says you can rearrange, add, and remove controls. Open Control Center, tap the Add button, and then drag controls to change their order. To remove Calculator, use the editing view to take it out of your layout. Apple also says controls can be resized, which lets you change how much space a control takes in the panel.

Version notes
Apple ties its expanded Control Center customization to iOS 18, as described in its About iOS 18 Updates page. Apple’s guide documents the Add a Control gallery, but it does not state a minimum iOS version for Calculator specifically. If you are on an older release and the steps above do not match your screen, check for an update in Settings, then General, then Software Update.

If Calculator does not appear in the gallery
Apple’s guide describes the gallery workflow but does not list every gallery entry in its text, and it does not document a Calculator-specific fix. Start with the checks below.
- Confirm that iOS is up to date, as described in the version notes above.
- Scroll the full gallery list rather than relying on the first screen of results.
- Make sure you tapped Add a Control from inside the Control Center editor, not from a different settings screen.
If none of these works, the Calculator app itself is still available from the Home Screen or App Library.

What Calculator can do once it is open
According to Apple’s Get started with Calculator on iPhone guide, Calculator performs basic arithmetic, switches to scientific mode, converts units, and uses Math Notes to evaluate expressions, assign variables, and graph equations. Those features are the same whether you open the app from its icon or from Control Center.
