To add a medication on iPhone, open Health, tap Browse > Medications > Add a Medication, then enter its details and schedule. You can use Health to set reminders and record whether you took a scheduled dose, but the schedule is information you enter—not medical advice or a check of what you should take.
How to add a medication to the Health app on iPhone

Open the Health app and tap Browse.

Tap Medications, then tap Add a Medication. If you already have medications in Health, the button may appear as Add Medication.

Search for the medication by name. In the United States, Health can suggest medications and lets you use the iPhone camera to enter one. If you are outside the United States, cannot find the medication, or prefer not to use a suggestion, tap Add to enter it manually.

Choose the medication type and strength. If the strength you need is not listed, Apple says you can enter a custom strength.

Set the schedule to match the instructions you have received, including when and how often you take the medication. Enter its start and end dates or other duration details. Depending on the schedule type, Health offers options such as specific times, selected days of the week, or cyclical schedules.

Choose the medication’s shape and colors if you want to use those visual details to identify it. Review the information and finish adding the medication.

How to log a dose as taken or skipped
Open Health > Browse > Medications and select the medication. For a scheduled medication, mark the dose Taken or Skipped. For an as-needed medication, select it and log it as Taken. If you use Apple Watch, you can also log medications from its Medications app.

How to turn on medication reminders
Health can send notifications according to the schedule you entered. To manage them, go to Health > Browse > Medications > Options and turn on reminders. Apple also offers an optional follow-up reminder if you have not logged a scheduled medication 30 minutes after the initial notification.
What to do if you cannot find a medication or schedule
The medication does not appear in search
Tap Add to enter the medication manually. Apple notes that medications not listed in Health are not included in potential drug-interaction checks. Drug-interaction information and medication suggestions are not available everywhere: Apple’s instructions limit suggestions and camera entry to the United States, and drug interactions are available only in the United States. A cyclical or weekday schedule is unavailable
Apple requires iOS 18 or later for cyclical schedules and schedules set for specific weekdays. If Health shows Schedule Unavailable, the schedule type may not be supported by the iOS version on your iPhone. Update iOS if possible; otherwise, reset the schedule and choose a different type. Use only a schedule that reflects your healthcare provider’s directions.
Use Health as a tracker, not a source of medical instructions
Health records the medication details and schedule you provide; it does not prescribe a medication or determine the right dose or timing for you. Apple cautions: “The Medications feature should not be used as a substitute for professional medical judgement.” Consult a healthcare provider before making health decisions related to the feature.
