To add a keyword to a photo or video in iOS 27, open it in Photos, tap the Info button or swipe up, tap Add Keywords, enter the label, then tap Done. You can later find tagged items by searching for that keyword in Photos.
How to add keywords to photos and videos on iPhone
Apple describes keywords as “tags or labels you add to your photos and videos to help you easily find them.” The iPhone workflow edits one item at a time.

- Open the Photos app and select a photo or video.
- Tap the Info button, or swipe up on the item to open its information panel.
- Tap Add Keywords, type the keyword or keywords, then tap Done.
- Swipe down to close the information panel.
If the item already has keywords, tap Edit in the keyword field to add or change them. Apple’s iOS 27 guide documents this workflow for individual items; it does not establish a bulk-tagging procedure. See Apple Support’s iPhone instructions.

In Photos, tap Search, enter a keyword, then select the suggested result. Apple marks keyword suggestions with Aa. You can enter multiple keywords separated by spaces to search for items matching those terms.

How to manage keywords
To manage the labels available in Photos, go to Collections, tap the profile icon in the top-right corner, then choose Manage Keywords. Select a keyword to see its available actions:
- Add to Favorite to mark a keyword as a favorite.
- Rename to change the keyword.
- Delete to remove the keyword.
Tap Add Keywords at the bottom of the screen to create a keyword.

Can you add or search keywords on iCloud.com?
Apple also documents keyword editing on iCloud.com. Open a photo or video, open its Info panel, then choose Add Keywords or Edit. To search by keyword on iCloud.com, you must allow Data Access and Search. This is a web workflow; Apple’s documentation does not establish that its controls or sync behavior are identical in every configuration. Details are in Apple’s iCloud.com Photos guide.
Keywords versus captions
Keywords are labels you add to help find media. Captions are descriptive text about a photo or video, and Apple says they can also make an item easier to find in Search.
