You can add funds to a PlayStation account from a web browser, from a PS5 or PS4 console, or by redeeming a PlayStation Store gift card or voucher code. The route you use depends on your device and on the payment methods available for your account’s PlayStation Store country or region, so check that first.
Add funds from a browser
The browser route works on any device with a web browser and does not require a console. It is the same wallet that your PS5 and PS4 use.

Add funds with a gift card or voucher code
A PlayStation Store gift card can be redeemed as a voucher code to add funds to your wallet. Before you buy a card, confirm that it is valid for your account’s country or region. A card bought for another region may not work on your account, and the same applies to any third-party seller listing.
If a card linked to your account cannot be used, PlayStation’s US troubleshooting guidance suggests choosing an alternative payment method or using a PlayStation Store Wallet Top-Up code from the same Store region.
#1 Best Overall
- Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
Which payment methods you can use
Accepted payment methods are set by region, so a method that works for one reader may not appear for another. Check the payment page for your own PlayStation Store region rather than relying on a list from another country. Two examples from PlayStation’s own support pages show how much they differ:
- United Kingdom: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Paysafecard, certain mobile networks, and Apple Pay, as listed on PlayStation’s UK support page.
- Canada: PlayStation’s Canada support page lists a different set of options. The specific list is not reproduced here, so check the page for your region.
Card region mismatch
PlayStation says that a payment card registered to an address in a different country from your account’s Store region may not link. If that happens, try a payment method that matches your region or a same-region top-up code. The mismatch is the most common reason a card that works elsewhere is refused.
Rank #2
- Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
Mobile billing
Mobile billing is available only in some regions and only through participating carriers. In the UK, PlayStation’s guidance names Three, EE, and O2. The mobile SIM and the PlayStation account must be registered in the same country or region, and carrier spending limits may apply. Treat these details as specific to the UK and check your own region’s support page before relying on this option.

Each adult account has a wallet. PlayStation’s wallet guide states: “When you pay for a purchase, your wallet funds are used first.” If the balance does not cover the purchase, the remainder can be charged to another payment method on the account.
Rank #3
- Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
A subscription bought with wallet funds may still require a payment method on the account. Check the payment settings before you assume a wallet balance alone will cover recurring charges.
Child accounts
A child account does not have its own wallet and cannot add funds directly. A child can make purchases within a monthly spending limit that draws on the family manager’s wallet. The limit defaults to zero when the child account is created, so the family manager must set an amount before the child can spend.
Rank #4
- Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
- Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
Refunds and transfers
PlayStation’s wallet guide says funds added to the wallet cannot be refunded. PlayStation’s US terms describe wallet funds as non-refundable and non-transferable, except where the law requires otherwise. These US terms do not set out rights that apply in every country, so read the terms that apply to your region before you add a large amount.
Check your wallet balance
- Browser: Sign in to PlayStation Store, open the profile menu, and select Payment Management. The wallet balance appears at the top.
- PS5: Open PlayStation Store, press Triangle, and select More. The balance appears beside the profile icon.
- PS4: Go to Settings > Account Management > Account Information > Wallet and sign in if prompted.
- PlayStation App: Open PlayStation Store, open the menu, and select Payment Methods. The balance appears at the top.
Menu labels and payment options were checked against PlayStation’s support pages in October 2026, and they can change by region and over time. If a label on your screen differs from the one above, the support page for your region is the authoritative reference.
