Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG all offer overlapping services in audit or assurance, tax, and advisory or consulting. For careers, the most useful comparison is not a firm-wide ranking: it is the specific local office, service line, role, and working arrangements. The firms’ service labels and career paths vary by country, and the available company information does not establish which firm pays more, offers better hours, or delivers better outcomes.
Big Four services at a glance
| Firm | Service areas described in the cited source | Scope of the example |
|---|---|---|
| Deloitte | Audit, Consulting, Enterprise Risk Services, Financial Advisory, Tax, and internal support | Deloitte Middle East’s student careers page. Deloitte later announced a planned FY2025 realignment; see below. |
| PwC | Assurance, tax, and advisory; the page also calls out audit and business services | PwC US careers overview; this is a US example, not a global organization chart. |
| EY | Assurance, Consulting, Tax & Law, and EY-Parthenon | EY Norway careers page; local career areas include technology and data and business support. |
| KPMG | Audit, Tax & Legal Services, and Advisory | KPMG Global describes these as its functions; offerings can differ by local member firm. |

At a broad level, each network works across assurance or audit, tax, and advisory or consulting. That overlap means a client or job seeker will often learn more by comparing the relevant local team, specialty, industry, engagement, or role than by choosing a firm based on its name alone. Confirm the service offering with the member firm in the country concerned.

Audit and assurance
Audit and assurance work is concerned with examining information and processes and providing assurance or related services. The exact engagements and qualifications required depend on local regulation and the role. A firm’s use of “assurance” as a broader label does not mean every offering is an audit.
#1 Best Overall
Tax and legal services
Tax teams advise on tax matters and compliance; some networks also group legal services with tax. The names “Tax,” “Tax & Law,” or “Tax & Legal Services” reflect different organizational labels, not proof that every office provides the same legal or tax capabilities.
Advisory, consulting, and transactions
These labels can cover a wide range of work, including business and technology consulting, risk, strategy, and transactions. The boundaries between teams differ by firm and location, so read the job description or engagement scope rather than inferring the work from the service-line name.

Structures can change
Deloitte’s Middle East student page lists five client-facing paths alongside internal support. Separately, Deloitte’s FY2024 global announcement said it planned to align capabilities during FY2025 into Audit & Assurance, Tax & Legal, and two consulting units: Strategy, Risk & Transactions and Technology & Transformation. That planned structure illustrates why an older local page may use different labels; check current local listings. Deloitte FY2024 global announcement.
How to compare the firms as employers
Start with the work itself, not a general reputation ranking. The official career pages reviewed describe opportunities and development programs, but they do not provide a standardized comparison of compensation, workload, promotion, or employee satisfaction.
Rank #3
Compare like with like
- Service line and daily tasks: Determine whether the role is audit, tax, consulting, risk, transactions, technology, or another specialty, and what a typical assignment involves.
- Office and client market: Local teams can differ in industry focus, client mix, staffing, and available specialties, even within the same network.
- Entry route and credentials: Check whether the posting expects a degree, professional qualification, exam progress, or a particular license. Requirements depend on country and role.
- Level and start date: Compare postings for the same seniority and intake period; otherwise, different responsibilities can make the offers incomparable.
- Personal priorities: Ask about learning support, specialization, travel, working arrangements, benefits, and expected workload before deciding what is a fit.
What the career pages establish
Deloitte’s Middle East student page describes five service paths, says professional qualifications may be studied, and presents internal mobility as an opportunity—not a guarantee. EY Norway describes early-career, graduate, and experienced hiring across its listed areas. PwC US advertises entry-level careers and a learning and development framework. These are region-specific descriptions by the firms, not independent evidence that one employer produces better outcomes. A practical comparison process
- Find current postings for the same city, service line, seniority, and start date at each firm.
- Read the responsibilities and required credentials closely; note which qualifications are mandatory and which are supported after hiring.
- Ask each local recruiter or team about client mix, travel, learning support, compensation, benefits, and working arrangements.
- Compare the answers against your own priorities, and verify any details that are not stated in the posting before accepting an offer.
FY2024 revenue: a scale snapshot, not a quality ranking
Each network reported a large global revenue figure for FY2024, but the fiscal year ends differ. These company-reported totals provide context on network scale; they are not a perfectly synchronized league table, and revenue does not establish service quality or career outcomes.
Rank #4
| Network | Reported FY2024 global revenue | Fiscal period or reporting qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Deloitte | US$67.2 billion | Year ended 31 May 2024; Deloitte also reported approximately 460,000 people globally. |
| PwC | US$55.4 billion | Gross revenue for the year ended 30 June 2024, as reported on PwC US’s careers overview. PwC also reported more than 370,000 people, services to 86% of Global Fortune 500 companies, and 105,549 people joining PwC firms. |
| EY | US$51.2 billion | Global FY2024 revenue; the cited announcement does not specify a fiscal year-end in the supplied figures. |
| KPMG | US$38.4 billion | Globally aggregated member-firm revenue for the year ended 30 September 2024; KPMG reported 275,288 global headcount. |

How to choose a firm for a particular service
For a client, the relevant question is whether the local member firm has the right expertise and capacity for the assignment—not which global network has the largest reported revenue. Compare the proposed team’s experience in the sector, the engagement scope, local delivery capabilities, and any applicable independence restrictions. Ask for details about the specific service and team, since global service categories do not establish what every country office offers.
