The Primebook 3 Max has a MediaTek Genio 720 platform with a dedicated NPU for supported on-device AI workloads, but that does not mean every AI feature works without internet. Primebook says many everyday PrimeOS tasks, installed apps, and PrimeOffice can be used offline; browsing, initial setup, downloads and updates, and Cloud PC need a connection. Primebook has not confirmed which PrimeAGNT workflows run locally or work offline.
What the NPU does on the Primebook 3 Max
An NPU, or neural processing unit, is specialized hardware designed to accelerate certain AI computations. When compatible software uses it, those computations can happen on the laptop rather than being sent to a remote service. Primebook identifies the Genio 720 platform in the Primebook 3 Max as including a dedicated NPU for on-device AI workloads.
Primebook’s September 23, 2026 comparison rates the 3 Max’s 8th-generation NPU at up to 9 TOPS. That is a vendor specification, not an independent test of speed, battery life, or real-world AI performance. The figure also does not show which apps use the NPU.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe key distinction is between hardware capability and software behavior. An NPU can process supported workloads locally, but a particular feature also needs compatible software and, where relevant, an AI model installed on the device. Some AI features instead depend on a remote service. Primebook’s NPU explainer likewise notes that offline use depends on whether the software supports it.

Does Primebook 3 Max AI work offline?
Some functions can, but there is no blanket offline guarantee for AI on this laptop. Primebook’s official FAQ says PrimeOS supports offline use for many everyday tasks and installed apps. Primebook’s product comparison says its PrimeOffice suite—PrimeDocs, PrimeSheets, and PrimePresent—works offline.
Those examples assume the app or feature is already available on the device and does not itself rely on an online service. The presence of an NPU alone cannot establish whether a specific AI prompt, assistant, or app works without a connection.

What works offline—and what needs internet
| Task or service | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Everyday PrimeOS use | Primebook says many everyday tasks and installed apps work offline; individual app requirements still apply. |
| PrimeOffice | Primebook says PrimeDocs, PrimeSheets, and PrimePresent work offline. |
| Initial setup | Internet required, according to Primebook’s FAQ. |
| Downloading apps and updates | Internet required. |
| Web browsing | Internet required to access websites; pages or services may offer their own limited offline modes, but Primebook’s FAQ does not establish those. |
| PrimeX Cloud PC | Internet required. It provides access to Windows and Linux environments through a cloud service, so it is not offline computing. |
| PrimeAGNT workflows | Offline requirements are not specified in the reviewed Primebook materials. Do not assume prompts, online research, browser actions, or other operator tasks work offline. |
What is known about PrimeAGNT
Primebook describes PrimeAGNT as an operator AI that can carry out multi-step workflows across apps, browser tabs, and system settings. The product materials reviewed do not say which PrimeAGNT functions use the Genio 720 NPU, whether processing is local or remote for particular tasks, or which workflows continue without internet. Treat its offline capability as unconfirmed rather than inferring it from the NPU specification.

For any feature you plan to use away from Wi-Fi, check the feature’s own requirements rather than relying on the laptop’s processor label. The useful questions are whether the app supports offline use, whether any required model or content is already installed, and whether the operation needs a server. A locally processed task may reduce reliance on a network for that operation, but the available Primebook materials do not provide a controlled speed, battery, or privacy comparison for the 3 Max.
