Nintendo’s U.S. suggested retail price for the standard edition of Metroid Dread was $59.99 at its October 2021 launch. That is a historical launch price, not a confirmed current checkout price: prices vary by seller, format, condition, and edition.
What was Metroid Dread’s original price?
Nintendo announced a U.S. suggested retail price of $59.99 for the standard game at launch. There is no single verified current price in the available official listing. Nintendo’s U.S. product page lists the digital Nintendo Switch edition, but the retrieved page content did not show a live checkout price. Nintendo also says retail partners set their own prices, which may vary. Check the eShop or retailer’s current listing for the amount you would actually pay.

Why might a physical copy cost more than $60?
Physical resale prices can exceed the original MSRP, especially for sealed copies, but a high listing is not a universal market price. GamesRadar reported on September 23, 2026, that some recent sold eBay listings for sealed U.S. copies were above $100, with a handful reaching $170. Those are examples reported at that time, not an official valuation or a guarantee of what a copy will sell for. Read GamesRadar’s report.

- Edition: Confirm whether the listing is for the standard game or Special Edition; the latter’s launch bundle included collectibles.
- Format: Compare a digital purchase with a physical game card.
- Condition: Check whether a physical copy is new, sealed, or used.
- Seller and region: Verify the seller, region, shipping, and final total rather than relying on an asking price alone.
- Current price: Retail pricing varies, so confirm the checkout amount directly with Nintendo or the retailer.
Nintendo’s support page says retail partners set their own prices. Its May 2026 pricing-change notice concerns new Nintendo-published digital titles exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2; it does not establish a new price for Metroid Dread. Nintendo Support: game pricing.
