Plan for about 30 hours to finish the main story in Mortal Shell II, based on one launch reviewer’s completed run. A separate trophy roadmap estimates 20–30 hours for an efficient, guide-assisted Platinum run. Those figures describe different goals and routes, not a player-wide average.
How long does Mortal Shell 2 take to beat?
For a focused main-story completion, the best available estimate is about 30 hours. That figure is attributed to a single reviewer’s run, so treat it as a useful planning point rather than a guaranteed duration or an average for all players. There is no official developer estimate established for how long the game takes to finish.

If you mean earning the Platinum trophy, a specialist roadmap puts an efficient run at 20–30 hours. That estimate assumes a planned, guide-assisted route; it is not a better estimate for a blind first playthrough. The two figures should not be averaged: they describe different completion goals and approaches. PowerPyx’s trophy roadmap is the source for the Platinum estimate, while the story estimate is attributed to a Bloody Disgusting launch review.

What makes one playthrough take longer than another?
Mortal Shell II supports substantially different routes through its world. PlayStation describes a compact open world with more than 80 dungeons, and the official game site emphasizes free exploration. The dungeon count is a measure of available content, not evidence that every player will complete it or a way to calculate extra hours.
#1 Best Overall
- Mortal Shell – A ruthless and deep action-RPG that tests your sanity and resilience in a shattered world
- Possess Lost Warriors – The lost remains of defeated warriors are yours to discover. Awaken these Mortal Shells, occupy their bodies and significantly open your understanding to diverse masteries of combat
- Face Formidable Foes – Your path is guarded by adversaries, devoted to inscrutable gods. Behold creatures both pitiable and grotesque and muster your courage and face them down
- Iron Sharpens Iron – Combat is strategic, deliberate, and unforgiving. Commit your sword only when an opportunity opens
- Exploration: Optional dungeons, hidden paths and detours add time if you pursue them.
- Combat attempts: Deaths, repeated encounters and recovery runs can extend a first run.
- Experimentation: Trying different warrior, weapon and upgrade combinations takes longer than following a prepared setup.
- Trophy cleanup: Returning for missed objectives can add time beyond a straightforward story finish.
These are reasons your own time may differ, not measured hour-by-hour additions. No reliable universal figure is established for a blind run with broad optional exploration or for completing every activity.

Choose the estimate that matches your finish line: use about 30 hours as a rough reference for the story, or 20–30 hours if you are specifically planning an efficient, guided Platinum route. For a first playthrough, leave room beyond either figure if you expect to explore freely, retry difficult fights or test builds.
Playtime counters can also differ in what they include, such as menu time, reloads or time spent offline. When comparing your run with someone else’s, check whether they mean story completion or Platinum, whether they used a guide, and how much optional content they pursued.
