A focused main-story playthrough of Little Kitty, Big City takes about 2.7 hours according to HowFarAmI’s estimate, refreshed August 15, 2026. Allow about 4.2 hours for the story plus major side content, or about 6.8 hours for full completion. If your goal is all 39 Xbox achievements, TrueAchievements estimates 6–8 hours based on reports from 2,876 members. These are player-derived estimates, not guaranteed runtimes.
Reaching home does not end the save. You can keep exploring, help animal characters, collect missing items, take photos, and access later additions. The best estimate for your own run depends on whether you follow the main objective or spend time wandering and completing optional activities.

How long is Little Kitty, Big City?
There is no developer-published average completion time in the official materials cited here. The available figures come from completion-time services, so treat them as useful benchmarks rather than promises. They describe different goals and should not be collapsed into one definitive answer.
| Goal | Estimated time | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Main story | About 2.7 hours | HowFarAmI estimate, refreshed August 15, 2026; player-derived. |
| Main story plus major side content | About 4.2 hours | HowFarAmI estimate, refreshed August 15, 2026; player-derived. |
| Full completion | About 6.8 hours | HowFarAmI estimate, refreshed August 15, 2026; player-derived. |
| All 39 Xbox achievements | 6–8 hours | TrueAchievements estimate, accessed October 13, 2026, based on the modal completion time reported by 2,876 members. |
The main-story estimate is the closest fit if you mainly want to see Kitty’s journey home. The longer estimates apply when you choose to do more than reach the ending: side activities, collections, and completion goals take additional time. Achievement completion is a separate measure, and the TrueAchievements figure specifically concerns the Xbox achievement list; it is not a universal time for every platform or every definition of “100%.”

Why your playtime may differ
This is an exploration-focused game, so your route through it matters. A player who heads toward the main objective will naturally spend less time in the city than someone who pauses to investigate, meet characters, collect items, or take pictures. The estimates also come from aggregated player reports rather than a controlled test, and individual pace varies. Use the figures to plan a rough session count, not to decide that you are playing too slowly or too quickly.
For a practical expectation, set aside a few hours for the central story and more time if the pleasure is in roaming around rather than reaching the destination quickly. A completion-focused run can extend beyond the story without requiring a new save.
How to compare the completion estimates
The 2.7-, 4.2-, and 6.8-hour figures come from the same HowFarAmI estimate, but each describes a different level of involvement. The first is a story-focused benchmark; the second allows for major side content; the third is the service’s full-completion category. They are not three different versions of the game or official time limits. A relaxed player may spend longer than any of them, especially if they stop often to explore or take photos.
The 6–8-hour TrueAchievements estimate answers a narrower question: how long members report taking to earn all 39 Xbox achievements. It is based on the modal time among 2,876 member completion reports, rather than a developer statement or a guaranteed minimum. Use it if achievements are your goal, not as a replacement for the main-story estimate or as a direct comparison with every platform’s completion checklist.
Does the game end when Kitty gets home?
No. Finishing the central story does not close off the save. Double Dagger Studio’s official press kit says players who have already climbed home can return to their existing save and find Tanuki to access the Picture Purrfect additions. That makes the ending a natural point to switch from the main objective to optional play, not a hard stop.

The studio describes the game as a city to explore, with animal friends to meet and quests to pursue. Its official description also highlights hats and the chaos Kitty leaves behind. Those activities give you reasons to continue even if you have already completed the main journey. Later updates add further spaces and interactions, so the post-story options depend in part on which updates are available in your version.
What can you do after finishing the story?
Return to the city and complete optional quests
Continue exploring the neighborhoods and help the animal characters you encounter. The official game description presents quests and helping animal friends as optional activities, making them a straightforward next step if you want more structured goals after the ending. You can choose to pursue those tasks in whatever order suits your exploring; they are not necessary to make the story ending count.

Look for hats and other collectibles
Hat-finding and exploration are among the activities highlighted by the studio. If you have been concentrating on getting home, revisiting areas gives you a chance to look for things you passed by. Collecting is also a good fit for a relaxed return visit: you can focus on one part of the city at a time instead of treating the game as a race to clear every objective.
Use the Picture Purrfect additions
The free Picture Purrfect Update was scheduled by Double Dagger Studio for August 27, 2025. Its additions include new areas and characters and an expanded photo mode. The studio says this content slots into the existing story, and its press kit specifically tells players who already reached home to return to their save and find Tanuki. In other words, you do not need to start over just to access the additions.
If photography is what interests you, the expanded photo mode gives you another reason to revisit locations and frame scenes. The game’s official description presents the city as an open-world playground to explore at your own pace, so taking pictures can be a goal in its own right rather than simply a record of story progress.

Explore Kitty’s apartment in the Birthday Update
In a May 12, 2026 Xbox Wire report, Arsenio Navarro, Business Operations at Double Dagger Studio, announced that Kitty’s apartment had become a fully explorable area. The report describes interactions with Turt, birthday decorations, photo stickers and frames, and a hat to find among the presents. If you have finished the city storyline, the apartment offers a different kind of space to poke around in without turning the post-game into another main campaign.

The apartment additions are distinct from the Picture Purrfect route through Tanuki: they give you a new space to explore, with its own objects and photo options. The announcement specifically mentions a hat hidden among the presents, so it is worth looking around rather than simply passing through. These additions are reasons to return to the same save, not a separate story-length estimate.
Keep playing casually
You do not have to treat the remaining content as a checklist. Return to a favorite area, look for an animal you have not helped, experiment with photos, or simply explore at your own pace. The game’s activities support both goal-oriented cleanup and unhurried play; reaching home does not require you to complete every optional task before you can continue enjoying the save.
How to continue on an existing save
- Load the save where Kitty has already reached home. The official press kit says players who have finished the climb home can return to their existing save.
- Find Tanuki. The studio identifies Tanuki as the way to access the Picture Purrfect content from that save.
- Explore the added areas and activities. The Picture Purrfect additions include new spaces and characters, with expanded photo mode features. The update’s content fits into the existing story rather than requiring a fresh playthrough.
- Choose your next goal. Continue optional quests, revisit areas for hats and items, take photos, or explore the apartment additions if they are available in your game version.
If you do not see the Picture Purrfect content, first check that the game is updated to a version containing that update, then return to the completed save and look for Tanuki. The cited studio materials establish this access route for the Picture Purrfect additions; they do not provide a detailed troubleshooting sequence for every platform.
There is no need to rush through the post-story activities in one session. You can use the ending as a convenient stopping point, then return later to follow up on quests, revisit places you remember, or spend time with the photo mode. The save remains the starting point for this cleanup, so a second playthrough is not required simply to continue with the added content described by the studio.

Does playtime differ by edition or platform?
The cited completion estimates do not establish different story lengths for separate editions. They compare player goals, not editions. Two platform-specific facts may still matter when choosing how to play:
- Nintendo Switch packaged edition: SEGA announced a Japan-market physical edition for June 18, 2026, and said it contains the same content as the digital edition. That announcement does not establish current stock, price, language options, or compatibility details for a particular retailer listing.
- Mobile edition: The official mobile FAQ says it launched October 12, 2026. It is free to try and then unlocked through a one-time purchase, has no ads or paid DLC, and is a separate purchase from the PC or console version. Mobile includes an exclusive AR mode, but saves cannot be transferred between mobile and other platforms.
These platform details do not change the available playtime estimates. They are relevant if you are deciding where to play or whether progress can move between devices. In particular, mobile is not an upgrade that carries over a PC or console save: the FAQ says saves cannot be transferred, and the mobile purchase is separate. If you want to switch platforms, plan on separate access and progress rather than assuming the same save will follow you.
The Switch package announcement is specifically for the Japan market and says the package contains the same content as the digital edition. It does not confirm a retailer’s current inventory, price, region compatibility, or language details. Check those specifics on the listing before buying a boxed copy.

- Use about 2.7 hours as a rough reference for a focused story run, based on HowFarAmI’s August 15, 2026 estimate.
- Use about 4.2 hours if you expect to complete the main story and spend time on major side content, using the same service’s estimate.
- Use about 6.8 hours as a full-completion benchmark from HowFarAmI, while recognizing that “full completion” may not match every player’s checklist.
- Use 6–8 hours only when your specific target is all 39 Xbox achievements, as estimated by TrueAchievements from 2,876 member reports.
Those figures are most useful as ranges for different play styles. If you enjoy wandering, photography, or finding every collectible, the ending is only one milestone; if you want the central story, the game is short enough to finish in a few focused sessions.
