The XGIMI MoGo 4 is rated for up to 2.5 hours of video playback in Eco Mode from its built-in 71.28 Wh battery. That is a manufacturer maximum under specified test conditions, not a guaranteed runtime for every brightness level, app, software version or environment. For audio-only playback, XGIMI quotes up to six hours when the projector’s lighting features are off and volume is 50% or lower. The separately sold PowerBase Stand for the MoGo 4 series can raise the claimed Eco Mode video runtime to up to five hours when both batteries are fully charged.
MoGo 4 battery life at a glance
There are three different figures to keep separate: video from the projector’s internal battery, music playback with the image system disabled, and video using XGIMI’s optional battery stand. They are measured under different conditions.
| Use case | Claimed runtime | Conditions and limits |
|---|---|---|
| Video on the built-in battery | Up to 2.5 hours | Eco Mode; projector unplugged |
| Music playback | Up to 6 hours | All projector lighting features off; volume at or below 50% |
| Video with PowerBase Stand | Up to 5 hours | Eco Mode; projector and stand both fully charged |
XGIMI describes these numbers as theoretical values from internal laboratory testing. Actual performance can change with the projector configuration, software version, applications, surroundings and the way you use it. The word “up to” is important: it identifies a reference maximum rather than a guaranteed session length.
What the 2.5-hour video rating means in practice
Eco Mode is the starting point
When the MoGo 4 is turned on without external power, XGIMI says it automatically starts in Eco Mode. This is the setting associated with the official video figure. If you leave that mode enabled, the manufacturer’s rating is the most relevant planning number for a film or presentation.

A 90-minute film sits comfortably inside the nominal window. A two-hour film also fits on paper, but the rating is a maximum and leaves less margin for the particular app, image settings and room conditions. For a longer programme, plan a charging option rather than assuming the battery will deliver the full laboratory result.
Brighter pictures use more power
Exiting Eco Mode gives you a brighter image, but XGIMI explicitly warns that doing so reduces playtime. The cited product information does not provide a runtime chart for each brightness setting, so there is no reliable manufacturer number for the exact reduction at Standard, Bright or another individual mode. Treat any setting-specific estimate as uncertain unless it is measured on your own unit under the same conditions.
Battery capacity is not the same as viewing time
The internal battery is specified at 71.28 Wh. Watt-hours describe stored energy; they do not promise a fixed number of hours because the projector’s light source, processor, speakers, wireless activity and software workload can draw different amounts of power. Capacity and runtime should therefore be read together with the operating mode and test assumptions.
How the audio figure differs from video runtime
XGIMI rates the MoGo 4 for up to six hours of music playback, but this is not a six-hour projection claim. The specification assumes that all projector lighting features are switched off and the volume is set to 50% or lower. In that use case, the display and lighting system are not operating as they would during a film, so the lower power demand supports a longer session.

Use the audio figure for listening to music or another soundtrack with the screen dark. Do not use it to estimate how long the projector can show a video. Raising the volume, enabling lighting effects or projecting an image changes the conditions behind the six-hour number.
Ways to extend MoGo 4 viewing time
1. Keep Eco Mode enabled for battery-powered video
- Unplug the projector and switch it on.
- Confirm that it has entered Eco Mode automatically.
- Leave that mode active unless the image is unusably dim for your room.
- Start playback only after the battery has been charged for the session you are planning.
This approach preserves the test condition associated with the built-in-battery video specification. It cannot guarantee a particular result, because XGIMI’s internal test conditions may differ from your content, software and environment.
2. Reduce brightness only as far as the room allows
If you have manually selected a brighter mode, return to Eco Mode first. When Eco Mode is too dim, make the smallest brightness increase that still gives a watchable picture instead of assuming the brightest option is necessary. XGIMI confirms the direction of the trade-off—more brightness means less runtime—but does not publish the number of minutes lost at each setting.

3. Add the MoGo 4 PowerBase Stand
The XGIMI PowerBase Stand for MoGo 4 Series is the manufacturer’s purpose-built extension. It contains a 20,000 mAh battery and is specified to provide up to five hours of Eco Mode video when the projector and stand are both fully charged.
- The five-hour figure applies to video in Eco Mode, not brighter modes.
- Both the projector and the stand must start fully charged for the stated condition.
- The stand is sold separately.
- Compatibility is limited to the MoGo 4 series; it should not be treated as a universal projector battery.
Because the claim combines two charged devices, it is not directly comparable with the internal battery’s single-device figure. It is the most straightforward choice when you want a longer video session and want an accessory specified for this projector family.
4. Use a correctly specified external power bank or adapter
XGIMI says a third-party power bank or adapter should provide between 65 W and 150 W. Its examples include 65 W at 20 V and 3.25 A or 100 W at 20 V and 5 A. Those voltage and current details matter more than a label that merely says USB-C.

- Check that the output port you plan to use—not just another port on the same bank—can deliver that profile.
- Use a cable rated for the required power and confirm that its connectors match the projector and source.
- Connect the source before starting a long session and verify that the MoGo 4 recognizes external power.
An arbitrary USB-C battery may support charging phones or laptops at lower voltages and still be unsuitable for the MoGo 4. The cited specifications do not validate a particular third-party model, so compatibility has to be checked from the bank’s published output profile and cable requirements.

Planning a session around the battery
For a single movie
Start with the built-in-battery video rating as a maximum reference, then allow a margin because your picture may be brighter and your software and environment may differ from XGIMI’s test setup. Charge fully before playback and keep the projector in Eco Mode unless the room requires more light.
For an outdoor or multi-hour event
Use the PowerBase Stand if you want an accessory designed for the MoGo 4 series and can charge both units beforehand. If you choose a third-party source instead, verify the 65–150 W capability and the 20 V profile before the event; discovering that a bank can only provide a lower USB-C profile after setup will not extend the session.
For music between screenings
Switch off all projector lighting features and keep volume at or below 50% to stay within the conditions of the separate music specification. Returning to video changes the power requirement, so do not carry the audio estimate into the next projection.

- Brightness: A mode brighter than Eco Mode consumes more power, and XGIMI does not publish a setting-by-setting reduction.
- Content and applications: Different apps and playback tasks can change the projector’s workload.
- Software version: XGIMI lists software version as one factor that can affect actual performance.
- Product configuration: Accessories and operating configurations alter the conditions compared with a bare projector.
- Environment: The manufacturer says environmental conditions can affect results, so a laboratory maximum should not be treated as universal.
- Use pattern: Audio volume, lighting features and the balance between projection and other functions change power demand.
These factors do not indicate a fault by themselves. First compare your setup with the stated test assumptions: Eco Mode for video, lighting disabled and volume no higher than 50% for music, and fully charged units when using the PowerBase Stand.

Checking an external power setup
If the projector does not run from a power bank
- Read the bank’s output specification rather than relying on its total capacity in milliamp-hours.
- Confirm support for 20 V at 3.25 A (65 W) or 20 V at 5 A (100 W), within XGIMI’s stated 65–150 W range.
- Try the bank’s high-power USB-C output if it has several ports; a lower-power port may not provide the required profile.
- Replace an unverified cable with one rated for the required power.
- Test the setup while the projector is idle before relying on it for a film.
A large capacity number without the correct voltage, current and negotiated output is not enough. Do not infer compatibility from the fact that the connector fits.
If runtime remains unexpectedly short
- Return the picture to Eco Mode and repeat the same content test.
- Charge the internal battery fully and note the playback conditions.
- Disable projector lighting features when testing audio-only use.
- Keep the volume at or below 50% if you are comparing the result with the music specification.
- Record the software version, application and environment so that a later comparison uses the same variables.
This controlled check separates a brightness or usage difference from a broader battery concern without pretending that the published figures are guarantees.
Independent context: the MoGo 4 Laser review
PC Gamer’s review of the MoGo 4 Laser reported 2.5 hours of battery runtime and just under six hours in audio-only use without ambient lighting. It also said the Outdoor Collection configuration with its PowerBase stand could extend viewing to around five hours.
Those observations are useful context because they broadly align with the manufacturer’s figures, but they apply to the Laser review configuration. They are not an independent test of every standard MoGo 4 unit, every software version or every brightness setting. The official specifications remain the appropriate baseline for planning unless your own setup has been measured.
Which extension method makes sense?
| Priority | Most suitable approach | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Lowest complexity | Use the internal battery in Eco Mode | Accept that brightness above Eco reduces runtime |
| Longer video with a designed accessory | MoGo 4 series PowerBase Stand | Series compatibility and full charge on both devices |
| Use an existing external battery | Third-party 65–150 W source | 20 V output profile, port capability and cable rating |
| Audio rather than projection | Lighting off, volume at or below 50% | Do not apply the audio figure to video playback |
In short, Eco Mode is the way to get the most from the built-in battery, the PowerBase Stand is the clearly specified accessory for extending video, and a third-party source is viable only when its electrical profile and cable are confirmed. The published numbers are maximum reference values, so leave practical margin for your own content and setup.
