Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival is currently the only released standalone Hellraiser story game with a published campaign estimate. Saber Interactive’s 2026 FAQ gives the game an estimated completion time of about 8–12 hours. Earlier Hellraiser projects, including Virtual Hell, never shipped, and Pinhead’s appearance in Dead by Daylight is crossover multiplayer content rather than a separate Hellraiser campaign. That leaves no honest list of several released Hellraiser games with comparable hour totals.

The short answer: only one Hellraiser campaign has a published runtime

If you are looking for several Hellraiser games to rank by length, the available evidence does not support that comparison. Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival is identified as the first true standalone Hellraiser game to release, and Saber Interactive’s FAQ estimates its campaign at about 8–12 hours. That figure is a developer estimate, not a measured average from a large player sample.

The other recognizable game appearance is Pinhead in Dead by Daylight. It adds Hellraiser-themed multiplayer content, but matches do not follow a fixed story campaign, so there is no meaningful “hours to beat” number. Earlier projects were announced or discussed but never became playable releases. They have no completion times to report.

What “other Hellraiser games” actually includes

Search results often place several names next to one another, which can make unreleased concepts look like completed games. For a playtime comparison, a project needs to have shipped as a playable title with a defined activity that can be completed. Using that standard produces three different categories:

  • Released standalone campaign: Hellraiser: Revival, with a published estimate for its main story.
  • Released crossover content: Pinhead and related material in Dead by Daylight, where session length depends on matches and player activity.
  • Unreleased proposals: Earlier Hellraiser or Virtual Hell projects that never materialised and therefore have no playtime.

Keeping those categories separate prevents a multiplayer expansion or an abandoned project from being presented as another full Hellraiser adventure.

Playtime comparison

Game or project Status Campaign availability Playtime evidence Replay or completionist data Format information
Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival Released standalone game Full single-player Hellraiser story About 8–12 hours, according to Saber Interactive’s 2026 FAQ; a developer estimate rather than a measured player average Not stated in the cited evidence; no verified completionist, replay, difficulty-by-difficulty or demo figures were announced A physical PlayStation 5 edition is documented, alongside digital and other physical formats
Dead by Daylight featuring Pinhead Released crossover multiplayer content No fixed Hellraiser narrative campaign No campaign runtime; match duration and total time vary with player activity Not applicable as a linear story completion measure Played within the multiplayer game rather than as a separate Hellraiser title
Earlier Hellraiser and Virtual Hell projects Never released No playable campaign No playtime exists to report Not applicable No commercial game format to compare

The table’s first row is the only direct campaign-to-campaign measurement available. The other rows explain why a longer ranking would be misleading.

How long is Hellraiser: Revival?

The published estimate

Saber Interactive’s FAQ, reported in a 2026 guide, puts the main campaign at approximately 8–12 hours. “Approximately” matters: the number describes the intended scale of a normal story run, not a guarantee that every player will finish inside that window.

The cited evidence does not provide a community average from a tracking service. It also does not establish separate times for rushing the story, exploring every area, playing on each difficulty, replaying missions, or completing optional content. Treat the range as planning guidance rather than a stopwatch result.

Why an individual run can differ

Any fixed estimate is sensitive to how a person plays. A player who follows objectives directly may finish sooner than someone who searches every room, experiments with puzzles, or pauses frequently. Difficulty can also affect failed attempts and combat time. If the game contains optional discoveries or rewards, collecting them will extend a first playthrough even when the main objectives are unchanged.

Those variables do not invalidate the estimate; they explain why it should be read as a band. For budgeting a weekend or deciding whether the campaign fits a short holiday, plan around the full upper end instead of assuming the lower number is guaranteed.

Why there is no measured “average” yet

Playtime databases are useful when thousands of players submit completed runs, but the guide citing Saber’s FAQ reported that HowLongToBeat did not have enough data when checked. Without a sufficiently populated, verifiable dataset, publishing a supposedly precise average would create false accuracy.

Evidence quality therefore differs by title:

  • Revival: a specific estimate from the developer, useful for scale but not a statistical average.
  • Dead by Daylight: variable match sessions, so a single campaign number would describe the mode incorrectly.
  • Unreleased projects: no observations at all, because players cannot complete them.

When newer, independently verifiable completion data becomes available, it can supplement the developer estimate. Until then, the 8–12-hour range is the most defensible published figure.

Are there any other released standalone Hellraiser games?

Not among the projects identified in the cited reporting. Revival is described as the first true standalone Hellraiser game to ship. That wording distinguishes it from earlier announcements and from licensed appearances inside other games.

Clive Barker described the project’s significance in a statement quoted by PC Gamer on 22 July 2025: “Working on the first true Hellraiser game has been a venture deep into the recesses of my darkest imaginings.” The quote reflects the project’s position as a new, dedicated adaptation rather than evidence of several completed predecessors.

What happened to Virtual Hell and earlier projects?

Clive Barker’s official catalogue records earlier Hellraiser-related game concepts, including Virtual Hell, as projects that never materialised. They may appear in histories of the franchise, but they were not released products that a player can install and finish.

Because no final game shipped, there is no main-story length, side-content total, speedrun baseline or completionist estimate for any of them. Assigning hours would be speculation, not comparison. They are best understood as development history, not entries in a playtime list.

Is Pinhead in Dead by Daylight a full Hellraiser game?

No. Dead by Daylight includes Hellraiser crossover content featuring Pinhead, but it remains an asymmetric multiplayer experience. Players participate in repeated matches rather than progressing through a fixed Hellraiser narrative from an opening chapter to an ending.

A match-based game can provide dozens or hundreds of hours of play, yet that total depends on how often someone queues, match outcomes, friends, events and personal goals. None of those measures answers “How long does it take to beat the Hellraiser story?” because there is no single story campaign to beat. It should therefore be listed as crossover content, not as another Hellraiser campaign with an hour total.

  1. For a direct story run, reserve roughly the lower part of the published window if you normally move from objective to objective without extensive searching.
  2. For a first playthrough with exploration, allow the full range so puzzle solving, backtracking and optional discoveries do not force you to stop midway.
  3. For higher difficulty, add flexible time for retries; the published estimate does not break out failure rates or difficulty-specific completion times.
  4. For replay or completion goals, do not assume the campaign estimate covers them. No verified completionist or replay total was provided in the cited information.

This approach gives you a practical plan without converting an estimate into a promise.

Edition and physical-copy considerations

A physical PlayStation 5 edition of Hellraiser: Revival is documented, along with digital and other physical formats. If you prefer a boxed copy, search specifically for the PlayStation 5 edition and check the retailer’s current region, stock and price before buying. Availability can change, and the existence of a documented disc edition does not guarantee that every market has it in stock.

The format does not alter the campaign estimate. It only affects how you obtain and store the game.

What the playtime comparison can—and cannot—tell you

The available figures answer a narrow but useful question: how much time to reserve for the released standalone story. They do not establish the amount of optional content, the number of endings, replay value, speedrun potential or a guaranteed completion time. Those details should not be inferred from the 8–12-hour estimate.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

They also do not support ranking Revival against unreleased concepts. A project that never reached players cannot be shorter or longer than a finished campaign. Likewise, multiplayer match totals are not interchangeable with a linear story runtime.

Bottom line on Hellraiser game length

Hellraiser: Revival is the only released standalone Hellraiser campaign identified here, with Saber Interactive’s estimate of about 8–12 hours. Dead by Daylight supplies replayable Pinhead crossover matches but no fixed campaign, while Virtual Hell and other earlier proposals never shipped. For now, that is the complete honest comparison: one campaign estimate, one variable multiplayer appearance and no playable runtimes for the abandoned projects.
