Kyndryl and Dynatrace announced a global alliance on November 1, 2023, combining Dynatrace observability software with Kyndryl consulting and implementation and managed services. The collaboration is intended to help large organizations understand application and infrastructure performance, modernize applications, and automate operations. Those are stated goals—not a guarantee of improved performance or independently verified customer outcomes.

What the Kyndryl–Dynatrace alliance does

The alliance pairs Dynatrace’s observability capabilities with Kyndryl’s consulting and end-to-end IT services. In practical terms, Dynatrace provides software to collect and analyze operational data, while Kyndryl can help customers assess their environments, implement solutions, and operate them over time.

The companies identified three focus areas: unified observability, application modernization, and enhanced AIOps. AIOps applies analytics and automation to IT operations, with the aim of helping teams detect, diagnose, and respond to problems more effectively.

The global announcement built on regional work. In February 2022, the companies announced a Brazil partnership focused on using Dynatrace’s observability platform and Kyndryl expertise to integrate and accelerate operations in multicloud environments. Kyndryl’s Brazil announcement describes that earlier collaboration.

What each company contributes

Dynatrace: observability software

Observability tools bring together telemetry such as metrics, logs, and traces to help teams investigate how applications and supporting infrastructure are behaving. The alliance announcement positioned Dynatrace’s observability and security platform as the technology component of the collaboration. The November 2023 announcement does not provide a detailed product configuration or a guarantee that every customer environment will be covered in the same way.

Kyndryl: consulting, implementation, and operations

Kyndryl said its services for Dynatrace customers could include application assessments, building and implementing custom solutions, and continuous managed services. The announcement also described real-time monitoring and related cloud-managed services. That makes the offer broader than software licensing alone: the intended model includes help deploying and operating the technology.

How the collaboration is meant to improve insight

Unified observability is intended to give teams a more connected view of applications and the systems they depend on. Application modernization work can use that visibility to understand application composition and performance while changing or migrating systems. Enhanced AIOps aims to use operational data and automation to reduce manual work and support faster diagnosis and recovery.

The companies said the alliance aims to minimize outages, optimize resource consumption, improve diagnostic and recovery times, and automate low-value manual activities. These are objectives stated by the companies, not measured results established for all customers.

What the 2026 solution brief adds

A 2026 Dynatrace–Kyndryl solution brief describes managed-service use cases spanning mainframes, virtual machines, and containers. It also describes integrating Dynatrace health metrics through Kyndryl Bridge APIs, using Kyndryl’s Ansible platform for remediation, and establishing an observability Center of Excellence. These details illustrate implementation patterns; the brief does not by itself establish that they are available in every region or customer configuration. Read the Dynatrace–Kyndryl proactive operations solution brief.

The brief cites “7,000+ playbooks” for closed-loop remediation through Kyndryl’s Ansible platform. That figure is a vendor-published description, not an independent measurement of customer impact or proof that a deployment will achieve a particular number of automated remediations.

What customer examples and evidence show

Kyndryl’s alliance page names Banco Patagonia and CIB Bank as examples, and the 2023 announcement includes a Hapag-Lloyd customer quotation about its observability transformation. These are company-supplied examples, not independent case evaluations. The official materials cited here do not provide an independently measured statistic quantifying the alliance’s customer impact.

For a prospective customer, the distinction matters: the sources establish the companies’ service model, stated use cases, and selected customer examples, but they do not establish a universal reduction in outages, faster recovery by a specified amount, or a guaranteed return on investment.

What an organization should evaluate before adopting it

The alliance may be relevant to enterprises that want observability technology alongside consulting and ongoing operations support. Before selecting it, buyers should confirm that the proposed scope fits their systems and procurement needs.

  • Coverage: Which applications, infrastructure, and environments will be instrumented, including mainframes, virtual machines, containers, and multicloud systems where relevant?
  • Deployment and integration: How will the proposed implementation fit existing operations, cloud services, APIs, and automation tools?
  • Services: What assessment, implementation, monitoring, and managed-service responsibilities will Kyndryl take on, and which remain with the customer?
  • Evidence: Ask for customer references and outcome measures relevant to the organization’s own baseline and use case; vendor examples should not substitute for measured results.
  • Commercial terms: The cited official materials do not state comparable pricing, service-level terms, or regional availability for the alliance offer. These need to be confirmed directly for a specific engagement.

Bottom line on the partnership

Kyndryl and Dynatrace’s alliance is an enterprise software-and-services collaboration: Dynatrace contributes observability capabilities, and Kyndryl offers consulting, implementation, and managed operations. Its stated aims include better operational visibility and more automation, but the public materials cited here do not independently verify a quantified business outcome.
