Gran Turismo 7 updates can add cars, new events at existing circuits, track-layout experiences, menus, and gameplay features in a single release. They also adjust rules, controls, settings, and fixes. The latest official notice identified here is update 1.71, dated August 20, 2026.
What kinds of content can an update add?
Official notices group changes into several kinds of additions and revisions. A release may include more than one category, so its car list alone does not describe everything players will find.

- Cars: New vehicles, with the notice often specifying whether they appear in Brand Central, Used Cars, or Legend Cars.
- Racing activities: New World Circuits events at named circuits or a Circuit Experience for a particular layout.
- Modes and features: Menus, engine swaps, and other systems, sometimes subject to progression, level, platform, or DLC conditions.
- Adjustments and fixes: Changes to event rules, target times, penalties, controls, display settings, localization, and bugs.
For example, update 1.71 added four cars, three World Circuits events, and one Circuit Experience, alongside regulation and gameplay adjustments. The official version 1.71 notice lists the full changes.

What does “new track content” mean?
A notice mentioning a circuit does not necessarily mean the game added an entirely new circuit. It may add an event at a track already in the game, a different or reverse layout, or a Circuit Experience activity. Read the specific entry in the notice to distinguish them.

Update 1.71: events and a layout experience
The August 20, 2026 update added World Circuits events at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya GP Layout No Chicane, Suzuka Circuit, and Kyoto Driving Park – Yamagiwa. It also added a Circuit Experience for Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya Rallycross Layout. These entries describe three events and one layout-specific experience, not four newly added circuits.
Update 1.70: a broader mix of venues
The June 11, 2026 update added events at Fisherman’s Ranch, Watkins Glen Long Course, Le Mans 24 Hours Racing Circuit, Sardegna Road Track A, and Eiger Nordwand Reverse. It also added a Circuit Experience at Fisherman’s Ranch Full Course Reverse. The layout names matter: an event or experience using a particular configuration is not the same thing as a new circuit announcement. The official version 1.70 notice gives the event and layout details.

What did the latest update, version 1.71, add?
According to its August 20, 2026 notice, version 1.71 included these cars:
- Caterham Seven Superlight R500 ’08
- Hyundai IONIQ 6 N ’25
- Toyota Chaser Tourer V ’97
- Toyota Mark II Tourer V ’97
It also added the three World Circuits events and the Circuit Experience described above. Other listed changes include a new mechanical-damage option for Championships, revised target times and demonstrations, less strict shortcut-penalty criteria, updated PS5 Pro PSSR use, and revisions to Power Pack PP regulations. The notice identifies the update’s contents; check its entries for availability details where they apply.
How do progression and platform conditions affect access?
Some update additions are gated or tied to specific versions of the game. These conditions are separate from the fact that an update notice lists the feature.
Progression and Collector Level
Version 1.70 added Café Extra Menu No. 54 and engine swaps for five named cars. The notice specifies Collector Level 50 for those swaps. It also added a Seasonal Menu that becomes available after completing Menu Book No. 39, “Championship: World GT Series,” and watching the ending. These are access requirements for those features, not requirements for receiving the update itself.

Paid DLC and platform availability
The version 1.69 notice states that Power Pack is paid DLC exclusive to the PlayStation 5 version of Gran Turismo 7. Accordingly, a Power Pack feature should not be presented as a standard feature available on every platform or included at no extra cost. The official version 1.69 notice provides the platform and purchase qualification.
Wheels are not an update requirement
Update 1.56 documents force-feedback adjustments for the Thrustmaster T300RS and Fanatec GT DD Pro/Extreme. It notes a 10 percent reduction to T300RS output to reduce motor strain. This is a wheel-setting change, not a requirement to own a wheel to receive update content. The official version 1.56 notice describes the adjustment.

How can you compare two updates?
To understand what a release changes, compare its content, access conditions, and effect on play rather than counting only new cars.
