Essence Extraction is AION 2’s gathering profession: interact with a resource node, and the attempt succeeds if the Success gauge fills before the Failure gauge. A successful harvest gives you the node’s material and advances the profession; a failed attempt does not produce a successful harvest. The available guides document no general Kinah fee for ordinary attempts, but reaching the Novice 50 promotion quest requires a specific Ruby item: Splendent Ruby (Bound).
How an Essence Extraction attempt works
Find a named gathering node—examples in the guides include Ruby Gemstone and Orichalcum Ore—and interact with it. The game displays Success and Failure gauges. If Success fills first, you receive the resource; if Failure fills first, the attempt fails. A successful harvest also grants profession experience, so Essence Extraction can progress independently of your character’s combat level.
Nodes can be depleted. The guides report that the game indicates when a node has no Essence remaining. One guide describes nodes as offering two to four uses, but that is a guide-reported observation, not an established universal count for every node or current build.
Do not confuse Essence Extraction with Item Extraction: the latter refers to breaking down old equipment, not gathering resources from nodes.

What materials can you gather?
Recent guides identify six gathering categories. Labels can vary slightly between guide terminology and the game client, so use the category name shown in your current interface.

A guide describes material grades as base, Fine, Pure, and Radiant, with grades affecting crafting use. Because that detail comes from a secondary guide, verify grade names and node yields in your current client rather than treating the list as exhaustive.

How the profession levels and what happens at Novice 50
Essence Extraction has its own profession level, separate from character level. A gameplay guide reports that access begins at character level 10 and that the profession starts at Novice Lv. 1, advancing through successful gathering. The level-10 access point comes from a pre-release guide and should be checked against the current client.
The same guide describes Novice levels up to 50, followed by a promotion quest to Professional. At Novice 50, the progress bar is full and advancement pauses until the promotion is completed. The reported quest requires Splendent Ruby (Bound), gathered from Ruby nodes.

Pay close attention to the exact item name. Splendent Ruby (Bound), the reported quest item, is not the same as Radiant Ruby Gemstone, which the guide identifies as a separate Jewelcrafting material. Similar names do not make the latter a substitute.
Guides disagree about the post-promotion ceiling: one describes Professional Lv. 50, while another describes Professional levels through 100. The available evidence does not establish a definitive maximum, so check the current in-game profession interface after promotion.

What does Essence Extraction cost?
The guides describe node interactions, success or failure, profession experience, node depletion, and skill-point allocation, but they do not establish a general Kinah charge for ordinary extraction attempts or a fixed consumable cost. That does not prove every attempt is free in every region or build. At the Novice 50 progression gate, the documented requirement is obtaining Splendent Ruby (Bound) for the promotion quest.
There is no supported universal attempt count, success percentage, average yield, or market price to quote. Node availability and market value can depend on your server and the materials players need; check your own market rather than relying on a general price figure.

Can skills improve gathering results?
One guide says using the profession and investing in its listed skills can improve success chances. Another distinguishes common and specialty skill points. A separate guide provides more precise skill effects and point totals, but those details are not established as universal current values. Review the live skill descriptions before spending points, and choose according to the materials and nodes you actually gather.
Practical route choices depend on the material category you need, node locations and depletion, your profession rank, and whether you want the materials for your own crafting or for sale. The guides do not provide region-wide market values or a fixed best route.
How current are the published details?
The Professional promotion and Splendent Ruby (Bound) details come from SPACE4GAMES, whose guide was based on gameplay footage and screenshots from Advanced Access before the stated October 5, 2026 release; it warned that names and values could change. VGC published a guide on October 5, 2026 that also describes the gauge outcomes and resource categories. Corpus published additional skill, grade, and progression details on October 4, 2026, but its Professional-level account conflicts with SPACE4GAMES on the upper level range. These are secondary guides, not official confirmation of post-launch rules or regional variations.
