Bill Skarsgård is confirmed as the lead performer in Hideo Kojima’s upcoming game PHYSINT. The studio has not announced his character’s name or said whether he is the game’s only playable character.

“The face” is best understood as shorthand for that lead casting and the visual preparation Kojima described—not as confirmation that Skarsgård is the sole playable character. The announcements do not disclose a character name, detailed role description or playable-character status.
Kojima said fittings, scans and camera tests with Skarsgård and Charlee Fraser had taken place earlier in 2026. That establishes that visual and performance preparation was underway, but the studio has not specified a capture method or explained how those materials will be used in the finished game.

How did Kojima and Skarsgård connect?
According to GamesRadar’s October 5, 2026 report on Kojima’s Koji10 podcast remarks, composer Woodkid—who worked on the Death Stranding 2 soundtrack and is friends with Skarsgård—introduced the two. Kojima reportedly pitched the game to Skarsgård, who agreed to join. Kojima Productions’ casting announcement separately says the pair are long-time fans of each other’s work.
Who else is in the announced cast?
Kojima Productions names Charlee Fraser, Don Lee and Minami Hamabe in the ensemble alongside Skarsgård. Xbox Wire also identifies those performers. The announcements do not give detailed descriptions of their roles, so their characters and their place in the story remain unconfirmed.
What is PHYSINT about?
Kojima Productions describes PHYSINT as an action-espionage game and its third original IP. GamesRadar’s account of Kojima’s podcast remarks says he called it a spy game and wanted “plenty of new ideas and a different kind of spy action.” The same report says the story is written but the script is not finished.
The poster tagline reported by PC Gamer is “The Next Cold War Begins.” It is a tagline, not a full plot synopsis: the announcements and podcast report do not establish the game’s setting, detailed plot or mechanics.
Why might Skarsgård’s name be familiar?
Kojima Productions describes Skarsgård as a Swedish actor and producer. Its announcement highlights his performances as Pennywise in It (2017) and It: Chapter Two (2019), and lists credits including Atomic Blonde (2017), John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023), Barbarian (2022), Nosferatu (2024), The Crow (2024) and It: Welcome to Derry (2025). Those credits identify his past work; they do not reveal what kind of character he will play in PHYSINT.
