A 7,000mAh battery has 40% more nominal capacity than a 5,000mAh battery, but that does not mean a phone will last 40% longer between charges. Capacity is only one factor: the phone’s display, processor, software, signal strength, temperature and your mix of apps all affect runtime. To estimate everyday endurance, compare tests of the exact phones under similar conditions—not their mAh figures alone.
How much longer does a 7,000mAh phone battery last than a 5,000mAh one?
The figures differ by 2,000mAh: 7,000mAh is 40% more than 5,000mAh. That is a comparison of stated battery capacity, not a measured runtime result. A 7,000mAh phone can have more energy available when other factors are comparable, but capacity alone cannot tell you how many extra hours—or days—you will get.
A direct answer in hours would require a matched test of one 7,000mAh phone and one 5,000mAh phone, using the same workload, settings and test method. The sources cited here do not provide that comparison.

No. The percentage describes the capacity figures, not screen time. Two phones can use their stored charge at different rates because of differences in their screens, chips, software and network conditions. Even phones with similar or larger batteries can produce noticeably different results in the same type of test.

For example, a 2025 91mobiles comparison tested four phones with 7,000mAh or larger batteries in PCMark, measuring from 100% down to 20%. The OnePlus 15 (7,300mAh) recorded 17 hours 6 minutes; the OPPO Find X9 Pro (7,500mAh), 16 hours 1 minute; the iQOO 15 (7,000mAh), 13 hours 7 minutes; and the Realme GT 8 Pro (7,000mAh), 12 hours 45 minutes. These results show variation among those tested models, not how much longer a 7,000mAh phone lasts than a 5,000mAh one. See 91mobiles’ test and conditions.
Test hours also depend on what the phone is doing. PhoneArena’s battery methodology includes separate tests for scripted web browsing, video streaming and 3D gaming. Its tests use 200-nit brightness, Wi-Fi, new devices and the latest firmware available at test time; PhoneArena cautions that signal strength, temperature and battery aging can change results. Will a 7,000mAh phone last two days?
It might for some people, but the capacity figure cannot establish that it will. A light-use day on Wi-Fi and a bright-screen day with gaming or navigation place different demands on a battery. Mobile signal quality, display settings, software and battery age also influence how quickly charge falls. There is no population-level everyday-use statistic in the cited sources that supports a general promise of two days.
Manufacturer claims can illustrate what a brand advertises, but they are not interchangeable with an independent test or a guarantee for your routine. Xiaomi’s UK POCO M7 page lists a 7,000mAh typical battery and advertises up to 28 hours of video playback, attributing usage figures to POCO Internal Labs and noting that actual results may vary. That is a manufacturer claim for that model, not a matched comparison with a 5,000mAh phone. Check Xiaomi’s UK POCO M7 specifications and claims.

How to compare two phones you are considering
Look for results that use the same testing method and compare the workload and conditions, rather than treating every runtime figure as equivalent.
- Match the task: Compare browsing with browsing, video with video, and gaming with gaming. A PCMark result, a video-playback claim and a short gaming session do not measure the same thing.
- Check the setup: Brightness, network connection, firmware, device age and starting and ending charge levels affect what a reported runtime means.
- Separate lab use from your day: Controlled tests make models easier to compare, but your app mix, signal, temperature and settings determine your own result.
- Keep charging separate from endurance: A larger battery does not by itself indicate how quickly it charges. Check each model’s supported charging rate and, where available, a measured charge time under stated conditions.
- Compare the actual phones’ dimensions and weight: Do not assume a larger battery always means a heavier or thicker phone; other components affect the finished device.
For context, PhoneArena lists the 5,000mAh Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra as supporting 45W wired charging and reports 1 hour 9 minutes to reach full charge in its test procedure. That is one model’s result, not a benchmark for all 5,000mAh phones. Check the listing and PhoneArena’s test details.

In the 91mobiles sample, the four tested 7,000mAh-class phones weighed 214–224g and were about 8.17–8.3mm thick. Those figures describe that sample only; they do not establish the size or weight difference between all 7,000mAh and 5,000mAh phones. See the sampled devices’ measurements.
What about battery aging?
A battery’s stated capacity is not necessarily what it will retain after years of use. OPPO says the Find X9 series battery retains over 80% of its original capacity after five years of typical use. This is OPPO’s claim, not an independent long-term comparison of 7,000mAh and 5,000mAh batteries. Read OPPO’s Find X9 series statement.
